Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

I always find it stupid when one of the centrebacks ends up trying a tough pass with scholes on the pitch, what's the point? Just work the ball a little more and give it to scholes.

As expected Toon went quite direct but we dealt with most of it ok, first goal was just a mistake and second should have been offside. Attack is floundering though. Valencia is doing ok but not causing enough problems, Giggs is trying but the pass hasn't come off yet. Hernandez has been poor and we can't get RVP in to good positions. Think we should swap Scholes for Clev, we need thrust through the middle atm.

Might even be worth trying to go for a 3. We're getting outnumbered when they attack at times and it's not just cause of our middle 2. They've got 5 across the middle and it causing us problems as the wide players are too far away too tuck in, in time.

Despite the shambolic and incorrect decision to award Newcastle their 2nd goal, I've no qualms them leading at half time. They have been the better team and deserve to be winning.

RVP, Hernandez and Valencia have been poor and need to assert themselves alot more as well as eradicate stupid mistakes in the 2nd half. I'd like us to also slow the pace down and knock the ball [/B]about in the knowledge that Newcastle will eventually have a break in concentration and concede, like they did out first goal.

Worrying we don't really have any options aside from Cleverley from the bench to change the flow of the game. I'd expect him to take over from Scholes on the hour mark. Hernandez and RVP really need to get into the game and win this for us.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. I see nothing that's going to make an impact as there's a worrying lack of inspiration without Rooney or even unpredictable brilliance without Nani.

I would never have begrudged a team with a younger member eg Powell but to perservere with the aged(no longer aging) midfield sends out the wrong signals

there is no flair, creativity or any kind of understanding in this team. we really look poor but lets hope for the second half

I lost count of the number of times I've watched this season, both live and on TV and though we were shit. It's amazing that we're in the position we are to be honest. We used to play the best football in the league but now we're not even in the top 5 I believe. Still using tactics from the 90's. I'm getting fecking fed up of it.

Our brand of football is not in the top 10 if you ask me and various others. We are just about getting by and scraping the results.

Textbook half time on the CAF.

Everyone is sh!t. That is all.

Let's hope it's the usual end of game on the CAF where suddenly all is well again!

We'll pull this out of the bag and the same old problems will keep getting ignored.

We cant afford to be dropping stupid points like this. Everytime the team gets changed we struggle, I know there's injuries but surely he must know how shit we are when Scholes and Giggs start we drop points every single time.

The team sheet comes in and literally everybody can see we are going to drop a bollock before its even kicked off.

Is it not that simple?

If you interfere with play, it doesn't matter if you touch it or not, it's offside.

its about phases, and he was obviously deemed as not interfering with that phase of play.

The primitive tactics isn't the main problem it's that we are using players that played in the 90s when it's 2013...

I think our rotation at the back is costing us. Smalling and Rio looked good against sunderland until vidic came on. Since then we have been just changing for fun. Don't think it will improve with the amount of rotation.

Not sure why we have tunnicliffe on the bench. Is he there to make up numbers? Will be only be given a chance if we are winning 3-0. I know hes 19, but we clearly need energy in our midfield, why not put him in the deepend now. Better than going through the same thing with slow lumbering build up.

Cleverley needs to start the second half. Its a must.

We're more than good enough to win this game, but it all depends on how the team responds.
Usualy we'd be more optimistic, because we usualy have a great bench to rely on if shit goes sour.

Carrick cant play with Scholes anymore - he neds someone dynamic - he is a brilliant foil to a dynamic player.

The defence is all over the place as the midfield is out of shape and Evra once again is making the wrong decisions in defence.

I actually like Darke and McManaman together. Funnily enough, I never hear criticism of television commentators when we're tearing teams apart, it just rears its ugly head when things aren't going our way.

We should be focusing our bad mood on the team selection and the non-performance of some of our players rather than two television commentators.

A few horrible mistakes have put us in a hole, but we still have enough quality on the pitch to bag the trey.

However, keeping the panic button nearby wouldn't be imprudent!

The midfield is a real problem how Ferguson can't see this is anyones guess. Valencia makes it worse too because he can't seem to put a decent ball into the box and why does he keep hesitating on the ball. Hopefully Cleverley comes on but apart from that there isn't much we can do. I agree with whoever said Rooney, Young and Welbeck can't all be injured, I think its more a case of resting/dropping when we can't afford too.

I think he just wants all of the centrebacks 'match fit' and the busy Christmas period is probably the best time to do that. Throughout January we'll find our settled CB pairing and they will play against Madrid.

Wouldn't be surprised if we turned this around, only if cleverley comes on for scholes though. This was one of those games where we really could have worked on our goal difference, they've been awful this season.

Giggs legacy has slowly been tarnished over the last few months. It's getting to the point where I can't stand the sight if him. On the bench or not. Have some self-respect like Neville.

I'm all for being positive but you cant deny the fecking obvious! would you rather we remain complacent and say nothing when we are so mediocre?

Id be asking where Giggs was rather then Evra

Nah that's definitely Evra to blame. He does not need to be that central at all - have a look at the goal again and we had both CBs plus Smalling all in the box who could've marked the Newcastle striker.

Yet Evra decides to be lazy and hover around the penalty box instead of closing his man down for the umpteenth time in his career.

baffling team selections were the prserve of Wenger, Mancini and Rafa but not anymore - Fergie is leaps and bounds ahead of them when it comes to picking the wrong side.

Fergie having a proper go at Mike Dean there

Wow just looked at the bench, Doesn't give me much confidence of a game changer coming from them other than cleverley

Is it not that simple?

If you interfere with play, it doesn't matter if you touch it or not, it's offside.

That ridiculous rule means the ref only blows offside if the attacker touches the ball.

And Fergie just ripping each of the officials.
