Has this been done already? My apologies if so.

Who in your view should make up the the the Team of the Season thus far? The formation is entirely up to you.

Mata and RVP to be sure.

And although De Gea quite naturally has a following on here, one of his United predecessors in Foster has been doing very well at West Brom.

It may well have been, if so I'm sure a mod would merge it.

Cech - Best of a bad lot really. I'd like to say De Gea, but outside of our club, I'm not sure he's viewed nearly as highly.

Rafael - Solid and increasingly dependable.
Vertonghen - Impressed me, good on the attack as well.
Shawcross - Might be a bit of a controversial one, but I'd say he's been as good as anyone, and Stoke have been pretty watertight this season
Baines - Not setting the league alight as he did in the first few months of the season, but in those first few months he was sensational.

Carrick - Needs no explanation.
Toure - Not as good as he has been, but still better than the others IMO.

Mata - POTS so far.
Michu - Value SOTS so far.
Cazorla - Debated between Hazard, who started exceptionally, but went off the boil a touch, and Bale, who's been brilliant some weeks, but okay in others. Cazorla's slightly better consistency gets him in.

RVP - No brainer.

Pretty much exactly this, actually. Thanks IrishLegend, saves me the job of typing the names out <_<.

Hazard------Toure------Gerrard------Diame-------Walters

Defoe------Ba

I'm just not sure if Suarez deserves to be in any team of the year this far. Whenever I watch in play, he just seems to be the greediest bastard ever and 9 times out of 10, be makes the wrong decision causing Liverpool to surrender possession. Fair enough, he's scored a fair few goals but as the sole striker in the Dipper's team, you'd expect nothing less as they create a fair few chances.

Defoe is exactly the same but yet doesn't feature on anyone's radar at all!

-----------RVP------Suarez-----------

Struggled to find a DM so went with Diame as he's been very impressive in a couple of games I've seen

I swear Toure is the new Essiem, doesn't matter how poor he's been he gets in on reputation alone

Begovic
Rafael Huth Olsson Baines
Diame Michu N'Zonzi
Fellaini Mata
RvP

N'Zonzi has been superb for Stoke.

Mulumbu and Mirallas misses out, just.

Joe Hart? Jesus wept.

It is just as bad as people including Carrick after him being mediocre all season and then having 1.5 great games!

-----------------Begovic---------------

Mata------Arteta------Cazorla------Bale
-----------RVP--------Rooney----------

Begovic
Rafael shawcross vertonghen Baines
Carrick fellaini
Mata michu Suarez
Van Persie

Bale narrowly misses out. There hasn't really been any outstanding midfielders this season so it was hard to choose Carrick or fellaini.

Carrick's been pretty consistent all season as long as he hasn't been paired with scholes.
Arteta? Rooney even? He's been good at best this season, Suarez has been better, as has michu.
Also I'm not really seeing why people are putting in nastasic? He's looked nothing more then decent whenever I've watched city, and to be honest they don't deserve to have any players on here.

Carrick mediocre all season? What absolute rubbish. I acept he's the sort of player who's only really appreciated by his own fans but he's been brilliant for us this season. I honestly dread to think what we'd be like without him in the side.

EDIT: And then after your Carrick comment I see you've put Arteta in there

Arteta has been superb this season. Carrick has only got back to last seasons levels in the past couple of games, he has only been average for the most part before that. You are engaging in short term thinking.

No he hasn't and no I'm not.

Arteta has been good. Carrick has been better.

Carrick is running the midfield for the side that's 7 points clear at the top of the league and Arteta is running the midfield for the side that's 7th and 16 points behind. Now that obviously isn't the full story but it's not like Arteta has been standing out in a mediocre Arsenal season. Cazorla's been the go to guy all season and recently Wilshere has been better too.

Both have played above their average, but the superior in terms of performance rather than performance against personal ability is Carrick, he has been levels above and his team has been more successful partly due to him

Nail on head.

Also why the feck have someone chosen Gerrard in their XI.

Also Vertongthen as center back when he has mainly played as a left back for Spurs?

Wilshere really hasn't been better than Arteta, if anything, Wilshere has underwhelmed since he has come back.

It is interesting that you think that someone is actually 'running' our midfield because it doesn't look that way to me, we are all over the place, we have conceded 28 goals already, we have won the league in the recent past conceding only 23!!! The defence has been bad but the midfield has not been up to scratch, Carrick has been the best of a bad bunch, as the defensive midfielder in the team he has to shoulder some blame for our shocking goals against tally.

The reason that we are top of the league is because Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie are number 1&2 in the combined goals and assist charts, then we have Hernandez who is adept at saving our arses too. They are bailing us out again and again.

I'm a big Carrick fan but he doesn't warrant a place in this 11 just yet, continues how he has been the last couple of months and he will walk in

Fair enough. But I don't think our midfield has been at all bad this season in the games Fergie has made the right call re who plays there.

The problem has been an ever changing back 4 and a seeming lack of confidence in either goalkeeper. In my opinion at least.

Michu is not a midfield player. He has played deep in a few games this season (mainly early on) but has been very much leading the line for the last 3 months.

--------------Begovic--------------
Rafael--Shawcross--Jagielka--Baines
---------Cazorla--Carrick-----------

-----------RVP----Michu-----------

SUBS: Jaask, Vertonghen/Nastasic, Arteta, Fellaini, Suarez

Begovic
Rafael Shawcross Kompany Baines
Carrick Fellaini
Mata
Robin Michu Suarez

Ignoring the positions of course, this formation would hardly work in game.

I know Kompany isn't having his best season, but he still very good, plus city have second best defense in the leaue.

De Gea

Rafael - Shawcross - Vertonghen - Baines

Mata - Fellaini - Cazorla - Bale

Van Persie - Suarez

Wrong and wrong again.

I was waiting for a Gooner to come in and correct him, since he was so wrong I couldn't even be arsed. Clearly watched one or two games immediately after Wilshere's return from god knows how many months of injury, and then hasn't seen his great performances recently.

Still Carrick over Arteta for me, anyway.

Begovic

Rafael - Shawcross - Nastasic - Baines

Honourable mentions to Mignolet, Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Vertonghen, Bale, Ki, Mulumbu, McCarthy, Lallana, Long, Ba and Defoe.

Begovic
Rafael - Shawcross - Vertonghen - Baines
Carrick - Toure
Mata - Michu - Cazorla
Van Persie

I went for Carrick and Toure because they have actually played in CM this season. Players like Cazorla, Michu, Fellaini, Mata have played in various attacking positions, and putting them in CM in things like this to allow space for more attacking players is not right IMO.

Begovic

Rafael Cahill Shawcross Rose

Dembele Sandro

Mata Cazorla Rooney

RVP

Surprised no one else seems to have gone fro Cahill. Rose edges Baines for me. Sandro and Dembele dominate everyone. Cazorla and Mata show just what a vast difference there is between Spanish and English creative players. I know Rooney has come in for criticism, but an off form Rooney still is one of the best in the league. He's the complete player and has to be in. RVP has shown more in terms of all round game to Michu.

Dembele hasn't actually played that much tbf
