Fabio has had a wonderful game for me. He's going to be a good defender this boy.

Evra seems to enjoy playing pretty much every game though, but with Fabio fit, I think Evra would enjoy and benefit from some rest and Fabio would get game time with a proper team.

I think even if we had Roberto Carlos in his prime, Fergie would still struggle to drop Evra. And I think he didn't want to put Fabio in that position again where he only gets the odd game. This could be a big season for Fabio if he keeps his place in the team for the rest of the year.

On the winning side, away to Chelsea. Not a bad night's work from him. He should get an extended run in their team now. From what I saw he defended very well against their various attacking players.

Amazing! You'd think I'd have heard that already on this, a Man Utd forum wouldn't you?

He was as a youth player, he was something like player of the tournament at the U17 Copa America and scored something ridiculous like 6 goals from LB, he scored 10 goals in 13apps at U17 level.

He got MOTM on whoscored.com making 11 tackles and interceptions.

Good performance from him. Beeing in the winning side against Chelsea away surely cements his place in the starting eleven?

Fabio was rated higher mainly due to his attacking qualities. Didn't he top score in a Youth tournament for Brazil?

I clearly need to work on my sarcastic undertones.

You need to work on using that quote function FB... ;)

Really? I'd never heard that before.

Yep. And you could see in the early days Fabio was the more polished of the two, but injuries intervened amd Rafael pulled ahead.

Fabio looked very, very good today. Scary good.

OK, now I'm not sure which ones are being sarcastic back...

[sarcasm] [/sarcasm] maybe you should try this in future to help other people with low sarcasm detection radars. I on the other hand got it in one cos I'm

I hope so. However, one can easily imagine the dour mood in training there.

I'm still not sure why Fabio was sent out on loan. He's ready to serve right now as Evra's understudy, though I have nothing against Buttner whatsoever.

It's quite clear as to why he was sent out on loan, to get a season of PL experience and improve, as well as giving us a better idea of how good he can perform when he's playing on a regular basis (which has been hampered at times this season thanks to QPR).

Fabio staying wouldn't of done him a great deal of good. Evra was always going to be starting on a regular basis this season, meaning there was a good chance that it'd be another season of us not really getting to see Fabio getting much of a look in bar a few appearances here and there. Him going out on loan was expected to be a win/win. We sign Buttner as cover, meaning Evra plays as usual with Buttner coming in on the odd occasion, meanwhile, Fabio goes out and get's an entire season under his belt and we get a rougher idea of whether or not he's ready to start being touted as our LB.

Sadly we sent him to the worst club fecking possible in the league (Bar possibly Reading), where I still fear he's going to learn very little and ultimately it'll be a wasted loan spell.

I get the concept of a loan, but couldn't Fabio have snuck in for more than a few oddball matches? After all, Evra is getting older and could use more rest.

But here we are and so far, so good.

I can imagine final day of the season where the QPR players are all crying and Fabio's like "yeah I'm off guys, see you next... Well, see you."

Good to see him get another start and for QPR to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea. Didn't watch the game, but sounds like he played well. Hopefully he locks down that LB spot and runs out the rest of the season strongly
