I think it was Shimo but he said this tripe has come up ever since Nani has been here or something like that only for it to be resolved in the end. Looks like he got it right again.

Plenty said it, because we hear it year on year about loads of our players. This year I've seen Anderson, Evra, Vidic, Valencia, Rio, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez all being talked about leaving, stories for each of those players. That's not to say it can't happen and there wasn't a bit more in this one (because we do know about the outstanding contract issue), but there are so many stories about our players leaving throughout the year there is little point getting worked up until something is announced or it actually happens. In this case all we actually know is the contract hasn't been extended yet and he's been in poor form before his injury, the rest really is just speculation.

Stop it - I don't get told I am right ever.

Whatever you bastards, I've said all along he won't leave (I think, probably not, maybe a little), and I'm not remotely biased or anything.

This situation had a lot more substance though to those others - contract running out, rumoured Petrucci incident, poor form, Lucas interest, Fergie criticising his role in the Chelsea league cup defeat - I guess it all made for an easy story.

Had a quick flick back over the last ten pages or so. Incredible how many people thought he was a sure thing to be sold. Or that evil genius Fergie was lying about the injury, and had instructed Nani to fake his limp, because somehow selling one of our best players would be ok if he's been injured for a month or so.

Not saying he's definitely staying, but this statement has at least forced a few Caftards back in the vague direction of sanity.

So how are the contract negotiations going then? Whether Nani has been frozen out or not, whether SAF and Nani are bosom buddies or not, the bottom line is if they cannot reach an agreement over wages then Nani will have to leave.

I just don't know what to make of it all tbh. Is Nani's inconsistency the reason we won't give him what he wants? If it is an issue, i don't see how we can continue to use him the same way we have used him before, and somehow get a different result.

Will we then play him differently in a wide forward role, as i have long suggested he would be far better suited to? Probably not. I find the whole scenario very frustrating personally. I just really hope we keep hold of him, and find some way to get the best out of him.

So you predict contract negotiations will end up with a player either signing or not. Situation clarified and sorted then ;)

It's negotiations. We've had players sign with a year left. People are being silly about this. Everything the press has said could be correct..sure - but let's not forget how easy a story it is. You think they wouldn't take it? People are gullible

It's a negotiation. It takes time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hmmm, that implies they were sane to begin with - including me, and that is highly doubtful.

There was clearly issues with Nani and Fergie. Consistent rumours which don't go away happen for a reason.

I'm certain it was disagreements over the contract but hopefully that is now resolved.

That's the spirit.

Bullshit. He's dead and they've stuffed him with live ferrets to make it look like he's moving.

Probably too early for him to be on the bench on Saturday but would be great. We need him back, badly

fergie also publicly backed veron a week or two before fecking him off to chelsea.

If you read Veron's interview in 442 this month: he states that after the Chelsea bid arrived SAF asked him to stay; Veron asked for a guaranteed starting place but SAF said that he would have to earn his place; so Veron chose to leave, a decision that he regrets.

No harm having him back as he is class but to say we need him back BADLY is a bit of a dramatic opinion.

We are winning games bud!

Our wingers are not really in top form (except maybe Young for the last few weeks but he's not moving mountains either) so that is why it would be great to have him back.

Despite us winning games, it has not been because of our wing play

---------------RVP---------------
Kagawa------Rooney----------Nani
---------Carrick-----Cleverley-----
Evra----Vidic------Smalling----Rafael

This may still be a possibility for me :D

Is there a link to this interview?

So, he's back. Hopefully he will find the form which made him probably the best attacking player in PL in 2010-2011 season.

@Mark_Froggatt: Boss says "Nani started training and is almost fit and all of the defenders, including Phil Jones, will be ready in the next week or so."

We're getting scarily close to having a fully fit squad, it would be amazing to have them all available for just one game. So amazing, in fact, that I can only remember it happening twice (early 2007 and early 2008) and it will surely never happen again.

Hopefully a lot more than that! We've just added another game to our calender now, we need as many options as possible to avoid overplaying in this busy period. We have a tough calender coming up, really is great news that the cavalry is returning. Once that happens, the next step is rythm and consistency, so hopefully they stay fit.

Alleluia!

We've done very well without him but Nani can do things nobody else in our team can do and with the form of our wide players at the moment a fit and firing Nani can come right back into the starting XI. I hope he comes back ready to prove he should be on the big bucks and plays his way to a new and improved deal.

Nani seemed to let the uncertainty over his contract get to him in the early months of this season but if he can get his head straight he'll be key to our title charge. I hope when he returns to the side he come back absolutely determined to show the suits at the club why he should be a top earner. We've missed this:

That's my point , we are not reliant on wingers to win games.

But yeah I agree it'd be better to have him back.

I read that as "Nani started training and is almost fit" + "All of the defenders, incl. Phil Jones, will be ready in the next week or so".

Is that how everyone else read it? I didn't read it as if Nani would be ready to play next week I mean.

*In before someone makes a joke about literally reading the sentence :D

Yes, that is how it is meant to be read I think. Still means that Nani isn't far off returning though if he has started training.
