Adnan Januzaj

For all his talent - one thing in his game he needs to improve, is the ability to get into scoring positions. When I watched him for the academy he always seemed to be too far away from the oppositions goal - with his back to the goal.

Adnan has never played for the reserves, and Paddy doesn't commentate on academy games. So it's possible he's never actually seen him.

Think he goes down to academy games..some of the other players do. That's one of the great things about the club.

Paddy is almost always at home academy games so has certainly seen him plenty of times.

You'd know more about that. I've seen him pictured in the crowd a few times, but I didn't realize he attended most academy games. Adnan hasn't played in many games though.

The first game listed on the reserve schedule for this year was a game against Accrington Stanley, he came off the bench in the 65th minute for Bebe but the official report doesn't mention how he was.

He was on the bench for the first U21 game vs Stoke, but was an unused sub.

He wasn't in the squad for the U21 game against Spurs, probably because Lindegaard, Evans, Fletcher, Powell and Buttner came into the starting XI, requiring quite a few players to sit and others to miss the bench.

He also didn't make the squad for the United XI vs Stalybridge Celtic friendly.

Maybe he picked up a knock for that last one.

But he's not been in the squad for any U18 game, that I can see, anyway.

Here's the U21 schedule and match reports.

Here's the U18's.

He seems to have been moved permanently to the under 21s as he wasnt even in the under 18s squad photo although Id still expect him to play in the youth cup. He will probably start to see more playing time for the under 21s as more players go out on loan

admittedly seen very little or next to nothing of him. although to be fair I don't really watch youth matches.
great to hear he's highly rated on here. how long do you guys reckon is he away from the 1st team? 2-3 years, more, less?

Good, that's what I was hoping. I saw the Stoke u21 game in which he was on the bench, but missed everything since. Having watched him in the friendly against Aberdeen, I'd have said he's probably ready for u21 level already.

Oh yes, he looked quite good against Aberdeen as I recall, I left that one out. The reserves are really stocked this year, I hope a lot of them get a chance to make a run in the CC.

Yeah hopefully they're given a chance in the League Cup, or whatever it is now called. With Januzaj being younger, I would expect he will miss out this year, but with him being selected to play against Aberdeen, you just never know.

Impossible to say as this stage. He's got plenty of higher levels to conquer and a lot of physical developing to do. 2-4 years.

Really hope he's not injured again.

If recent experience is anything to go by, we'll sell Adnan after giving him barely a sniff of first team action, and replace him with an inferior player of the same age and give them a chance instead

I'm kidding of course, but we really do give more of a chance to young players that we've paid for.

We've only got the League Cup to experiment in. And even with that you have loads of big money players who need a run out. If we had a squad ad small as Liverpool there would be more opportunities for youth.

He's had a start and two subs so far this season, but he hasn't played in our last four reserve/U21 games. Neither has he played for the U18s, so I think he must have some manner of injury.

Very good.

Looks lively!

He's also sporting all-black boots, this needs some serious attention!

I had no idea he was so quick over a medium stretch! I've seen in U18s games that he has the ability to glide past a player or two, but that third gif up from the bottom is James Wilson pace!

I really like the look of this kid, superb talent, great technique, pretty good name and he can cross. He seems a perfect fit for United. Lets hope he can make it here along with some of the other bright academy stars.

Reckon he'll get a crack in the Carling cup next season.

Has been promoted to the U21's permanently now, it seems plus already made his first team friendly debut in the summer.

Surprised he didn't travel with the squad to the Mercendes Benz Cup. Shame, I think he would have really shun in a 6-a-side format.

Shone, you mean ?

Think he has been promoted above that level now permanently. Didn't travel to Asia too.

Yeah I meant shone.

Ah I forgot about that as well. Either way, hopefully he makes a mark with the U21's in the elite stage.

Nah, he's fit. But as Cevno said, he seems to have been promoted to the u21s on a full time basis.

Hows he coming on?

Hows he coming on?

Have a look at the GIF's a little further up the page from the recent FA Youth Cup game.

He is an extremely talented and exciting player who, in my opinion, has outgrown youth football. So far for the reserves we have not seen him show the kind of spellbinding form that he showed at youth level but I think that there is plenty of reason for optimism. He has to be considered on of the best prospects to come through the ranks in the past 10 years.

Jake has already commented on the gifs so I imagine he has seen them..

He didn't go to the recent u-21s tournament or play in the u-18s friendly or that 5 a side tournament either. I can only assume he's been injured for a month or so based on that.
