Benitez to Chelsea Discussion & Sack watch

Swap deal for Brendog Rodgers? Makes sense for everyone.

I'd rather swap him for Mourinho, considering Rafa is the fans' favourite to take over at the Bernebau and Mourinho is the fans' favourite to take over at Chelsea.

Jose back is a dream, probably one that wont happen but it is a dream.

Admittedly he doesnt have the same powerful team as he did in 2004, but he is the only manager I know who SAF has a lot of respect for his skills besides Moyes and probably the only one that United fans would fear managing a rival team :smirk:

They'd have every right to fear him, he has won wherever he goes - without exception.

He has a house in South-West London, a daughter at school here and his ego will surely be crying out for the kind of unconditional love he received at Chelsea and in England, it is the best way for Roman to win the fans back and he was apparantly not a million miles away from joining in the summer, hence the delay to RDM's contract being unveiled - that is the only case I can make for it. That and the fact that there is no other serious option, apart from Klopp who would be absolutely mad to go anywhere near us.

The most worrying and staggering thing for me are the noises in the media that Benitez might be "making the position his own", despite having the worst record of any manager in Abramovich's whole tenure. Di Matteo had to jump through all of the flaming hoops in the world to get that job and then had it taken away from him at the first sign of a wobble, but Benitez seems to be getting every encouragement despite his poor managerial record so far and disharmony throughout the club.

It makes me feel ill that he could be made full time manager. Surely he wont be considering its extremely well known how unpopular he is.

Really??

As toilet cleaner?

Nope, apparantly he is the people's champion out there. I would tell them to be careful about what they wish for.

The Madrid-based newspaper says Benitez is the preferred replacement should Mourinho leave next summer, with the vote of 21.4% of socios (members). Germany manager Joachim Low came second in the poll with 19.5% and current Swansea manager and ex-Madrid player Michael Laudrup was third with 15.6%.

A report in Friday's Daily Telegraph claimed that Benitez, a former Madrid youth-team coach, had been approached by a third party with a view to taking charge at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu next season. The claim ties in with an interview given to Spanish radio station Onda Cero in December when Benitez enigmatically suggested he had held talks about replacing Mourinho

Is that bullshit though? How can Real Madrid fans seriously want Rafa over Jose.

I've had half a bottle of Port and still know that's a terrible decision.

I can safely say I wouldn't "fear" any manager being in charge of our rivals.

Lies ;). In all seriousness though, Jose was the only manager who could seriously have put a dent in Uniteds league dominance over the years, he is a motivational and tactical master, and IMO bettered only by SAF himself in the managerial role. I feel a Jose team regardless of who it was would have won the league in at least 2 out of the last 3 seasons where points tallys have not been sky high.

Of courses its all ifs and buts, but he always wins titles and trophies wherever he goes, it's not if but when.

Erm possibly a couple of years ago when we won it with 81, but your squad wasn't that great. Year before that you won it anyway and last year - no chance,

Meh. Mancini won the league with City last season.

Ultimately, Fergie loves a challenge. The 2006/07 title win over Mourinho's Chelsea is probably still one of his favourites. It doesn't matter who is in charge and which club happens to be challenging, there'll always be someone.

No but I'm imagining if he had stayed with us right through. I know its all ifs and buts though one can only assume he would have done better than we did in the league throughout that period.

Not taking anything away from José who's a brilliant manager, you've got to point out he's won everywhere he's gone... after choosing very wisely where he's going. He didn't win everything he did with second string squads or underdogs.

Only with Porto did he do that.

He likes to go where theres money to build his squad how he wants it. To be honest Im not sure we have a squad that leaps out at him, as he seems to prefer power and strength. I have no doubt though that if he were to rejoin us he would mould us into a title winning team within a few years again.

I've had half a bottle of Port and still know that's a terrible decision.

He has a good reputation in Spain for winning La Liga with Valencia and his Champions League pedigree is impressive, whether you like him or not.

You have to give him credit for making Liverpool a serious contender every fecking season (2 finals and 1 semi) considering they were a long way from having one of the best sides in Europe.

Whatever you want to say about his CV, he is definitely a terrible fit for Chelsea. He obviously took the job thinking "if I do well it's going to raise my stock and if I feck up you can just blame it on the Chelsea FC circus and I've had enough of this blogging anyway".

Let's swap him for Jose now if they want to do it, I certainly want to do it.

You seen this stuff in the papers about how Emenalo wanted Benitez at the beginning of the season and it was him influencing Roman to turf him at the first sign of trouble? fecking under-12 girls netball coach Emenalo!?

I despair sometimes.

Another fabulous result for fatty. KRAC.

What are the chances of him staying for the next season? At least we can hope!

Another example of him not willing to take a chance, should have had hazard, mata and oscar on the pitch once they went a goal down imo, you can bet Fergie would have added attackers not swapped one for another.

How far ahead were Chelsea in 3rd place when Rafa took charge? They may feck up 4th place, unbelievably. Would be absolutely hilarious.

He was hoping for an away goal, obviously.

Shocking game today, I know City away isn't easy but Jesus they weren't even interested. Just 3 wins in 9 league games they wont be finishing top 4 if they keep this up for much longer.

So then... since Benitez took over Chelsea results have been:

7 Wins
4 Draws
4 Losses

That's 25 points out of a possible 45.

Before Benitez took over Chelsea's stats:

7 Wins
3 Draws
2 Losses

That's 24 points out of a possible 36.

I wonder where Chelsea would be in the table if the season started when Rafa took over... 25 from a possible 45 really isn't very good. It's mid table at best.

I'm sick of seeing it and talking about it.

I'm sick of the backwards way this club is being run.

I'm sick of seeing full strength teams put out in return home legs of tin pot cups and half strength sides in the league.

I'm sick of seeing non sensible subs being made at stupid times.

Why do we sack competent managers and now we have one that really really needs sacking, he isn't being sacked?

In some respects if we do finish outside the top four its a wake up call to RA, that he either changes his ways or he needs to go.
