Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

Against Liverpool Jones was pretty much man marking Suarez...wonder if he'll be tracking Bale?

Rooney must not be fully fit, there's no other logical explanation not to be starting him.

Will Welbeck still be shit if he's man of the match again? I think I'll avoid this thread when the game kicks off today, it's brain numbing at times.

The first one to slag him today should win a short ban ;)

Rafael deals well with Bale usually. Putting Jones at RB makes even less sense to me versus putting him in midfield.

If he is fit enough to be on the bench, then he is fit to start imo.

RvP brace today. Come on united, let's get some payback.

Why the feck would Rafael suddenly play on the wings according to people here? When has SAF done that?

It wouldn't surprise me if we were lined up to control the threat of Dembele who has battered us twice in two different halves of football with two different teams, as well as Bale.

Jones CDM and Welbeck on the right? Or Jones RB and Rafael RM? Could certainly go either way.

Could actually be a diamond (hope not).

The options we have from the bench to change the game are incredible though. Hernandez, Rooney, Anderson and Valencia oh and Giggs.

Welbeck is a great player in the bigger games. He works so hard and doesn't give the opposition a moments rest. We've got Van Persie there as a huge goal threat so there is no harm in continuing Welbeck's progress and showing faith in him.

Rooney is a fantastic player to have coming off the bench. It's a real sign of our strength.

OFFICIAL MUFC XI:

de Gea

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

So good to have this back 5 again.

Hoping they can get plenty of outings together and start delivering a series of clean sheets, starting today all the way to the season end.

If they do that, we win all sorts of trophies.

in Fergie we trust, but playing against a team with pacy wingers, with erm..no wingers of our own?

Thought Valencia was a shoe in even out of attacking form he'd be worthwhile defensively

Rafael deals well with Bale usually. Putting Jones at RB makes even less sense to me versus putting him in midfield.

Thinking that Bale just stays on the left and doesn't drift infield makes even less sense. I'm most worried about him storming through our centre, like at Old Trafford.

I don't think 'carry him' is right at all, but I agree Welbeck deserves to keep his form going.

If he has a shocker, which he sometimes does coming back, then we cant afford it. Fergies seen him in training all week and must think at the moment welbeck is the better option

He's played at LB and CM, I'm sure it's not farfetched to think he might one day step out on the right wing. Preferably not today though.

Jones in the middle...

Jones is the new Fletcher.

I predict that fans will be surprised, astounded, indignant and repulsed by the choice of Jones in the center for the next two years, when he will confound us all by turning into a world class midfielder. And Fergie will be proved right all along. :)

He created loads of chances for the team last weekend and ruined their plqying style, no reason to drop him on that performance

I agree, he deserves to start for his performance, but he's still not scoring, so I don't exactly see him as 'in-form', as far as a striker goes.

Dembele had a great first half but was anonymous once we actually got our heads on, no reason why with the form carrick is in and clev playing well they couldn't have controlled the game. The risk with jones when he plays in the middle is he has no positional awareness and if he Ends up as the most advanced which he usually does he can really inhibit our attacking moves. Still of he sits and allows clev to push up and carrick to influence more it could be good but we've never seen that happen before.

Great man management by SAF again.

Welbeck will work his socks off again which is any day better than having a half fit Rooney. I have a feeling he might get himself in the scoresheet today.

Will people stop saying Rafael is going to be anywhere other than RB. He's been our most consistent player along with Carrick and RVP all season, I'd be in disbelief if he isn't in at RB and wouldn't want Jones there ahead of him what so ever.

I'd expect Jones in a midfield three with Carrick and Cleverley. This will allow freedom for any of the three to roam forward, because they're all good going back and all good enough going forward. Should give us a very good balance I'd imagine, with Cleverley possibly even having the freedom to sometimes drift out into a wide position.

Reminds me of the Alan Smith move to midfield.

Yeah, Jones in to counteract Dembele seems to make sense. The way he has ghosted through the middle of our midfield in the past, with the likes of Bale and and on-form Defoe in front of him, could be a massive problem. Put an extra body in there, sitting a bit deeper.

It's a shame it means playing someone out of position though.

If both were fully fit, I'd still choose a world class striker like Rooney over Welbeck 100 times out of 100. I'm sure Welbeck will play well though and we have the option of Rooney later on.
