Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

The way we defended gives me a lot of confidence going forward. We're in great shape. This diamond system still doesn't work for me though. We need to be very intricate and clever with our passing if we want to create anything.

To be fair spurs thoroughly deserved the point. We didn't play at all in the second half and they just got better and better. Its something that is becoming quite predictable, when we go ahead on goals we stop playing. Especially if we hold a first half lead.

I think the main thing that pissed me off was that throwing on Rooney and Valencia was supposed to improve us. Neither was at all impressive.

Valencia had acres of space to run into and yet he chose to stop the ball and pass it back. Its fecking appalling decision making and it put our already tired central midfield under more pressure. The least he could do is run it towards the byline and win a throw-in. He is supposed to have fresh legs too. Absolute fecking disgrace if you ask me when you see what lennon did for 90 minutes in the snow. If someone asked me right now if you would swap lennon/bale for Valencia I wouldn't hesitate.

Rooney started off well and then just disappeared from the game. I expected more from him but then again he has been very subpar this season. Disappointment especially in his consistency.

It was brave defending by Rio and Vidic but in the end we just ran out of gas and spurs got the break they needed. We didn't help our cause by giving away about a million freekicks on both flanks.

I just feel sorry for De Gea (Vida and Rio) for not being able to keep that clean sheet right at the end. I was actually expecting Welbeck to be brought off for someone like Ando or Smalling because Danny was gassed in the last 10 minutes.

Just a real kick in the teeth to concede so late in the match and watch those chavvy fecks celebrate like they won the league.

And if we had held on we wouldn't have heard another peep from you can't be bothered with supporters like you. Played well very unlucky in the end should have had a penalty. Life goes on not a bad point when the dust settles the lads all done well in a tough away game in tough conditions.

He's not worth it, just another mouthpiece who thinks he has a brain.

I thought we did very well as a team under the conditions and away at WHL. Everybody were putting their bodies on line with DDG, Carrick, Rio and Welbeck all having played very well. Sure it is two points lost but for some reason I am not gutted.

Jesus, the over reactions are coming lads.

DDG was not at fault for the goal, at all. anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

He was part culpable at the goal. I'm one of his biggest fans he was brilliant today but found wanting at the death. Good signs from him though what a GK we have.

I was worried there with 15 mins to go, if you had got a goal then i think you might have nicked another.

Spuds deserve the draw.

Nah, I think that would have spurred us on to go up another gear. They got lucky they scored so late on for us to do anything about it. It's why they were all celebrating a draw in the end.

The whole point of the way we set up was to get that goal and then break on them late in the game. It was going all according to plan until Rooney and Valencia came on and repeatedly broke down counter attacks. Valencia is a non entity at the moment, it's not worth the bother playing him at all. And our strikers weren't doing enough tracking back late in the game, Spurs would continually have space around the centre circle.

Team played poorly in the 2nd half. Substitutions didn't pay off. Ref was poor, especially one of the linesmen. Tottenham deserved the point.

Vidic and Ferdinand were magnificent, they were let down by a typical Rafael feck up.

DDG is a boy amongst men when it comes to crosses. He should have caught the fecking ball. That being said, he was fantastic for most of the game.

the decision to punch was the correct one imo, really if we are nitpicking he could have got some more power behind it but really it was a scrappy play and it gave way to a scrappy goal.

I'll go with that. I'm not devastated because I expected a loss today to be honest, unlike the trend I thought we'd get something when I saw the lineup (and said as much).

To be honest we'll need to be a lot better when we go to Madrid. Spurs are fairly average and made us look poor at times, Madrid will punish us.

Still, we've been to Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Spurs and come away with 10 points. Can't complain (too much)

It was a good performance. Defence was great. The line up looked like an attacking one but it was more defensive. When Rooney and Valencia it completely made us defensive. RvP was stranded alone up front because of that. I doubt anyone will talk about that penalty decision. People will only consider this as a deserved draw for spurs. Hats off to welbeck. Such a hard worker. I don't understand why Sir Alex is going all out defence whenever we are in the lead with 25-30 mins to go. We are leaking goals in all kinds of matches and we are only best when we keep possession. That said, Jones and Carrick were Brilliant throughout.

Agree it weakened us Chief but Clev and Kagawa were tiring so not needless.

Should have put Anderson on for Clev instead of Valencia IMO. Valencia was generally good defensively although he may have to take his share of blame for the goal. We just lost control of the midfield completely once Cleverley went off.

Nev is right on DDG at the goal but I'm not to down on him as he was awesome today. Saved us 2 goals that pretty much would have been a given had another GK been playing for us.

didn't really think the Rooney one was a pen, more a strong bit of defending. Certainly wasn't a dive either, some people are incapable of realising not everything has to be one or the other.

We were hanging on today.

De Gea made a couple of really good/very lucky saves.
It's just the fact it was inthe 93rd min that really guts.

But next game will be up soon, and we go again.

We relied too much on our defensive nous to bail us out. IMO our substitutions weakened our midfield needlessly.

thought danny or RvP should have come off instead of Cleverley but we were 30 seconds from seeing it out so hard to complain

Vidic and Ferdinand were magnificent, they were let down by a typical Rafael feck up.

harsh but Rafael was too interested in countering but didnt realize that jones had slipped/on the floor so that gave space for the cross. Still think its hard to blame someone, it was a scrappy goal that just worked in their favour really

Keep deluding yourself we played very well. I cannot remember the last time we played so timidly against Spurs.....Have you seen the match facts? We had only 2 shots on target with the calibre of players in our squad. We were lambs out there today. Fergie was more concerned about NOT LOSING than winning.

I still do not know how Jones in the midfield helped stem the flow of attack from Spurs. He contributed nothing offensively or defensively. There's a Brazilian player called Anderson on the bench that would have battered Dembele to a pulp in the last 20 mins and yet we left a weary Jones in there for the entire game.

The only reason we are saying Spurs deserved a draw was because we played like gibbons in the 2nd half.

Draw wasn't such a bad result but the way we conceded so late was terrible. We have a run of fixtures where we can pick up max points so we have to put this behind us and charge forward. SAF has some problems with defensive substitutions and must work that out. And yeah Valencia too, think he needs some time with Julian Assange in the Ecuador embassy

Feels shite when it comes in the last few minutes but we've done it to enough teams in the past.Giving the ball away needlessly in the last 10 minutes and wastefulness when we had it cost us.A game like that was crying out for a Giggs or Scholes to come on and keep the ball, we seen how Giggs managed it against West Ham in midweek but all we did late on was hoof the ball up to the half way line and it was coming back time and time again.Saying that if the ref would have given the penalty we'd have been home and dry.
Still 5 points clear.

You sound like a West Ham fan. Do you have many in your family?

No, I have a brother who supports Notts. Forest for complicated reasons of no interest to you.

Had the game lasted another 5 mins Spurs would probably have won ... you were rocking like a baby in a cradle. De Gea saved you a point.

Good game and probably a fair result in the end.

We are so wasteful it is unbelievable. That match just showed the humungous difference between having someone like RVP and Defoe upfront. 18 shots on target, some of them very good chances and we score 1, RVP puts it away from one of your 2. Excellent player. Switch them around and the result would have been very comfortable imo.

Harsh to blame De Gea for the goal, the media are quick to make decisions on new players and will not change their opinions for years regardless of the evidence in front of them. He made 3 or 4 exceptional saves.

Caulker on Rooney was probably a pen but I think if Dempsey had chosen to go down earlier, it would have been a penalty and red for Evra. And as Man utd fans have been telling me for years, these things even themselves out. Apparently. ;)
