Would really like to see a front four like that. Plenty of interlinking positions between them all.

Nani will tear Shaw a new one.. and then destroy that as well.

Do any of you think SAF might gamble and give Carrick or Evra a rest for this one? As both played on saturday I can see one of them giving a game off, can see Buttner coming in.

Reckon Hernandez will start personally. He'd certainly be hard to drop after the game v Fulham.

I'm expecting:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Rooney
Van Persie Hernandez

It's hard not to be very excited over some of the teams we've been able to field this season. We're much a much better side than at any stage over the last three seasons.

Saints are without Guly Do Prado (who the fans don't seem to rate at all) and Jose Fonte is still out. Lallana comes back from injury but is short of game time so its likely that he'll be on the bench.

Looks like they'll line up like this:

-------------Boruc----------
Clyne---Forren--Yoshida-Shaw
------Cork---Schneiderlin-----
Puncheon--Ramirez-----De Ridder/Fox
-----------Lambert--------------

They might play either Rodriguez on the left or Ramirez on the left if they want to play Rodriguez.

Buttner seems to be rated so lowly he only gets very rare run outs in very low key games.

You'd think tomorrow would be the right time to give Evra one game off surely!

We have to win this. Simply have to. Take no chances, absolutely strongest team possible.

If city's draw tonight hasn't got everybody up for this game then nothing will. Massive chance for us to open a 7 point gap again.

3 points.

That is all. No f*cking about with the team selection. Best XI we have a available. 7 point gap at stake.

is there a single person here that doesnt want to see nani, kagawa, rooney and rvp all start? mouth watering.

I think when them 4 played the second half against Spurs in the Old Trafford game it was the best we have played all season, just a shame the first half was such a disaster. but I have opted for Welbeck ahead of Kagawa due to form.

If ever there was a boost before a game, tonight was it.

Let's hit Southampton hard.

Southampton is one of the few clubs I hate to see us beat. I can't explain why, but I have a soft spot in my belly for them.

But my head must rule my heart and we absolutely must rip their guts out right through the fecal orifice and send a message that United are serious about reclaiming our trophy.

oh ya never recalled they had. kagawa was very good that day and rvp should have had a couple. would love to see it tomorrow and hopefully at home vs real, if away result requires it.

Time to get the lead back up to 7 points. But we have to keep in mind, we have a tricky and harder away game to Fulham two days after this one.

Tomorrow's game has just got bigger - you could say 7 times bigger!
Having that 7-point gap would be fantastic again - and with us having decently straight forward fixtures in the coming month or so, it would really kill City's confidence.

I would also like to see this lineup, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Evra or/and Carrick rested.

And we have beaten them the past 7 times we have played them.

Since Carrick subbed out against Fulham - I'd say that he'll probably be starting tomorrow.

No messing about - put our strongest eleven out. We may not get a better chance to extend our lead to 7 points again.

Agreed. Go for the full disembowelment on Soton. Then make the few tweaks required (Hernandez, Jones, etc.) to dispatch Fulham.

RvP
...-Rooney-...
Carrick Cleverley
Evra-Vidic-...-Rafael
DDG

All extremely likely IMO, CB place alongside Vidic up for grabs and then any of Valencia/Nani/Kagawa/Welbeck/Hernandez/Anderson filling the 2 remaining positions.

Yep, I'd say all those positions are pretty nailed down. Or at least they should be. Personally I'd like to see Kagawa and Nani, but Anderson (to make it more of a 4321) or Welbeck would both be strong calls too. And I will never be anything but pleased to see Hernandez on the pitch. Valencia I'd give a match off, and then let him have another stab next time round.

Getting a big win here would not only be good for our morale, as ever, but could also seriously dent City's. There's nothing quite like stumbling against the league's worst team and then seeing that your rivals have battered their opponents to stretch their lead. We'll look uncatchable, and they might start to flag.
