Anderson

We all know he can't play 90 minutes.

So why the feck isn't he coming on to help control the game in the last 30? Injured?

I guess we just ran out of substitutions to make.

Cleverley was knackered out there despite not playing in a while. The fitness of our midfield (outside of Carrick) has been quite poor compared to other top clubs.

He was poor against Norwich last weekend and that cost him a chance of playing in either of the games this week IMO.

Not allowed, again. We didn't have a choice, midfield was ailing and needed a boost, Anderson should have come on.

Fergie obviously doesn't trust him. Which is fine, but if you don't trust him, make a decision in the summer. About him, about our midfield.

He should have started today really. Sir Alex said the midfielders were knackered after tuesday, so why not start Anderson here? There's really not much between him and Cleverley, so why not give Cleverley a rest and put Anderson in for this game? Only thing that didn't make much sense to me.

Yeah felt Clevery had a good 45 mins in him till his tank was on empty.

Anderson is knackered anyways when he plays plus is in poor form.

A fresh Ando isn't of much use to us against a quality opponent.

No way. We've got Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson, Giggs, Powell coming through and Fletcher bound to come back. If we buy someone else nobody will get enough games. Obviously.

Don't bet on that in a hurry

The reason Anderson didn't play today is crucial in determining how much we need a midfielder. If he doesn't trust him, we need to buy. If he isn't fit, well, for me that says the same thing. If SAF didn't think he was tactically the right person to bring on, it's another one of those cases where I scratch my head and put it down to, SAF knows best, my my he works in mysterious ways.

Then why do we still have him around?

If SAF doesn't have the faith in him, why not sell the guy?

Good question. I believe we will sell Ando this summer. I also believe we will procure a midfielder this summer and possibly bring up one of our whippersnappers.

It was a good idea, but Ando just doesn't have the heart of a true United man.

Hope we get a midfielder but even if we do it might not mean Anderson will be gone this summer. A lot depends on how many games we think we'll be able to get out of Fletcher, Scholes and Giggs. We might not be able to afford to let him go yet.

He isn't good enough to be in our first team and doesn't seem consistent enough or fit enough to be a squad player.

Doubt Fletcher will ever come back as a player. Scholes will more then likely retire in the summer, and Giggs can't really hack it starting in a midfield two anymore. No two ways about it, we need at least 1 central midfielder, but more preferably, two center midfielders. We have basically 3 to choose from right now, and one of those is injury prone. Ideally we'd want to have 5 good center midfielders, who can all come in for another one and not make out team much worse overall.
Sir Alex really has let our midfield turn crap over these last 5 years without doing anything about it.

Anderson is the perfect example of why every player should pick utd as their destination. You can be chunky, unfit, and inconsistent and you'll still get 5+ years at the club.

No other club on the planet at our level would give the same amount of time.

 he has put in plenty of good performances against quality sides. He would have been a decent sub to bring on. Better to take cleverley off for anderson instead of take Hernandez off.

But I do agree taking Hernandez off was not a stroke a tactical genius.

Ando has had good performances against top teams. Yes he has had poor performances as well. But more often than not you get a decent performance out of him. If he stayed fit he would be alot higher in the peaking order.

Bringing him on for cleverley couldn't have made things any worse, and would have at least given us a player who can carry the ball forward if space opens up.

Wanna bet?

He might not sell him but looks like Anderson as I said to you earlier on in the season is running out of time here. You may still argue but your still wrong (I really wish you were right on this one though).

Have to agree, SAF has showed unlimited pantience with Anderson, with little after little return, there has to be an end in sight unfortunately... I rate Ando but you can't say to date his transfer has been a success, if he left today, you couldn't call it anything other than a failure.

People jump the gun too quickly. We know feck all as to why Ando wasn't playing yesterday. Do we know if he'll be sold in the summer - nope. Fergie has built a great partnership in Carrick/Cleverley and if Anderson were to leave, who is he gonna bring in in on the balance of "Carrick/Cleverley are my starters. You will have to work your socks off time and time again to knock one of the lads out of contetion".

Imo, Ando is going nowhere and there should really be nothinf else to it. He is continuously injured and as frustarting as it is, what human being would want to leave the best team in the world with that history.

Don't think any body is basing their opinion on yesterday to be fair more like the last 5 years.

I don't know what will happen in the summer. But if your manager prefers a bench without a midfielder against Real to having you on it; or says after Chelsea are midfielders were knackered and still doesn't bring you on, it says a whole lot.

You are = You're

Moving on... I'm not arguing to be fair, I agree that his time might be running out here. If you remember our debate earlier in the season just after he picked up that injury I said, "he needs to return quickly and he needs to come straight back into form", it's now March and that hasn't happened. I'm still convinced that Anderson would be brilliant for us if he could go a full season without injury, but it seems less and less likely that will ever happen. He'll get fit, take a while to get into form, hit top form and then get injured again.

I still bet he won't be sold this summer though.

Cleverley hasn't impressed me lately, I think Anderson deserves his chance, at least two or three games as a starter.

Anderson last week was far worse than anything Cleverley has done recently. Like I said last week that performance will have done Anderson no favours at all.

SAF said himself that Cleverleys legs had gone. he had Anderson on the bench but refused to use him. I'd say thats pretty damning

Cannot see him being at OT beyond the summer

On what basis? If he starts it would be down to Cleverley being knackered and/or being pretty poor yesterday (certainly in the second half, at least). I don't think Ando's done much to say he 'deserves' a start, given that his last run out was pretty awful.

Why do people keep saying he "deserves a chance"? We've given him a billion chances already.

He has player over a 100 games for us and still hasn't shown that he is good enough for United. How many more seasons should we wait to finally realize that he is not good enough!
