Saturday 16th March 2013
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 1730 GMT

Be great to get back to the league, feck the cups.

de Gea
Smalling Vidic Evans Evra
Young Carrick Anderson Welbeck
Rooney van Persie

A win is vital for a few reasons.

#1 Title Race.
#2 Two games without a win, potentially going from a treble > single within one week. Need a result to get the team back into the swing of things.

De Gea
Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra:
Cleverly, Carrick, Anderson.
Rooney, Young.
Van Persie

(Assuming Nani will miss this one through injury)

De gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic evra
Young Carrick Anderson giggs
Rooney van Persie

Was gonna say rest Rafael, evra and Carrick, but really there's no need to with this being in a week. Hopefully van persies form finally picks up, really hope Suarez doesn't win the golden boot ahead of him.

The last I was positive we gave one of our worst performances of the season (even when we were two goals up :wenger:) so I am going to start by saying, I don't have a good feeling about this one. Any game against relegation battlers would be tough at this stage of the season.

Some players obviously need a bit of a rest and we need to utilize the squad.

Team:

De Gea
Jones Vidic Smalling Buttner
Carrick Anderson
Giggs Rooney Young
Van Persie

Subs: Amos, Evra, Evans, Scholes, Kagawa, Hernandez, Welbeck

I wonder if "not allowed" has been relegated to a "not wanted" status. If Anderson is not good enough to start this game, he never will be.

United 3 - Reading 0.

We should be able to win this game. The week break will hopefully help us regain a bit of the energy that was lacking in the second half and help us keep it far tighter.

Wishful thinking, we win our match and everton take points of City

Hopefully by the time we kick off City would have dropped points at Goodison and we'll have even more incentive to get the win here.

I wouldn't bank on it after what Wigan did to them at Goodison this weekend.

Dangerous game, we need to get back to winning ways at Old Trafford and a team fighting for survival are a threat. We'll need to rest a few but sadly Carrick won't be able to get any as Jones is still injured.

Valencia has to be at the very least on the bench for this one... or rather in the stands. Cleverley on the bench too, with Giggsy definitely starting on the left. I'd have Young on the right (Nani if he's fit, though I think he won't), RVP & Rooney upfront. I'd also like to see Buttner on the left, Evra jogging back for Ramires goal yesterday made my blood boil.

Should be a comfortable win. Don't expect Everton to do us any favours, City are in very good form and play without pressure now.

Hopefully Vidic will ensure that there isn't a repeat of the madness at the Madejski earlier in the season. We struggled to deal with the numerous crosses into the box. I'm sure SAF said Jones will be ready for this so wouldn't be surprised to see him in somewhere (CM since Cleverley looked off the pace?) and maybe Smalling at RB for height? 3 points please, I don't even care if they're scrappy.

I like the team , but this is not a dangerous game, for me it is a nailed on home win.

It's a very tricky fixture, bad feeling about this. Reading at home as a 29th game of the season is one of the toughest games in football.

I just had to.

Does anyone know if Nani is due back? And I wouldn't mind seeing some of our backups in Buttner etc getting a game, just so that if the need arise again where our full backs are full, we can hopefully have more of an option as I think Buttner with a bit of first team football, won't be a bad backup.

Any relegation side are a threat at this stage of the season but Reading seem to be the most gutless of the sides down there and showed very little fight against Villa.

I'm going to OT for the first time since Hargreaves' return against Wolves... so I'm predicting a surprise return for Jones and subsequent 4th minute injury and 2 goals, including a last minute winner) from Kagawa.

Yeah, a bit racist...

I'd love to see:

DDG
Rafael - Vidic - Rio - Evra
Carrick - Cleverley/Giggs
Welbeck - Kagawa - Nani/Young
RvP/Hernandez

Preferably Cleverley, Nani, and Chicharito. Rooney doesn't deserve to play and RvP hasn't been great either, give Chicharito another chance and if things don't work out bring on RvP.

De Gea

Smalling-------Rio-------Vidic--------Evra

Carrick---------Anderson

Valencia-------Rooney--------Young

RVP

Wow. I'm amazed anyone wants to continue with Valencia. That man needs to go to the room Nani was sent to and have a long hard think for a few weeks. Shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

I agree! It's such a shame whatever happened to Valencia, it's painful to watch him play sometimes, remembering how good he had been before.

I can see Everton taking points off City and we should beat Reading by a couple.Hopefully keep Jones for some of the more difficult away games plus the replay v Chelsea, Anderson and Carrick to start on Saturday with RVP and Rooney up front.

Rest: Rafael, Evra, RVP.

Young will start, Valencia won't, Nani to be back.

Talk of this being postponed to fit in the FA Cup replay on 17th.

No mention of Hernandez? IMO he deserves to start, just in front of Rooney. RvP can sit this one out as well.

5-0, Hernandez hatrick, Rooney and Smalling.

Out of interest, why are people suggesting we rest players?!

We're not in Europe anymore! I say we field our strongest team, try to knock them for about 5 and put our recent blip behind us.

Front 4 of: Welbeck, Rooney, Kagawa, v.Persie.

Or maybe Nani for Welbeck if he is fit and fired up.

Rest players would only help Deschamps, van Gaal and Hogdson have fresh players and they will still come back tired.

Just read that the Reading manager has left today, wonder if they will have a new one in time for this match.
If so they will be out to impress, still don't see any problems mind.

Yep, let's hope they don't yet have a manager for the game and we get the 'in limbo' performance which is usually crap.

Once again we face a team who will have just hired a new manager.

Pochettino earlier in the season. Redknapp too wasn't it?
