Manchester United vs. Reading

This is bullshit!!!!! WHY ARE WE ONLY 1-0 UP AT HALF TIME AGAINST THE BOOK READERS????? FEGRUSON SHOULD BRING CLEVELERY ON

Poor half the goal masks a terrible slow performance from us. Get Carrick on, someone to get hold of the ball and make things happen.

It might be the pitch, it might be the rain, it might be the citeh result..but this is probably the most boring half of the season. Its great that we are a goal up, but I mean this looks more like a training session than an actualy football match. We don't look interested in getting out of 1st gear, and reading seem content to sit back despite being a goal down, making this an absolute borefest.

I don't fault our players for slowing the pace and playing the safe pass..keeping the ball. But this is really some boring football with barely anything happening in the last thirds of the pitch.

I hope we show more killer instinct and finish this reading side off because they really are dire.

With a midfield of Anderson, Giggs, Young and No-one, we were never going to play scintillating football here.

Rio and Giggs have been good, and No-one has been the better of our wingers.

Barely created anything. Rooney has been subpar other than the goal. Young hasn't touched the ball much. Its been very disjointed.

Reading were running around without actually doing anything, we aren't even out of 2nd gear and its still comfortable. We will pick them off second half.

Surprised by the first half. Thought OT was gonna be really up for it and the players the same after Everton's win today.

We're barely trying and we're still very comfortable.

We're lacking so much in midfield its scary. I used to be a huge Anderson fan, but he's nowhere near clinical enough for the level we require.
Bringing on Carrick would be a good idea, but having a rest for him sounds good. Cleverley could do the job.
We as a team today are dire, and seem to lack the desire to go out and win it.
Its as if they're forgetting we could go 15 points clear.

The strangest thing about this season is how many players seem to have lost their confidence despite the fact we're storming clear at the top of the league. The way we've dominated domestically since the season started you'd think everyone of our players would be feeling on top of the world. Just think of how we've left the competition at home in the rear view mirror and abroad if not for a referee we'd have knocked out Real Madrid too. The players in our side should be supremely confident in their ability but they are visibly not. Even Van Persie seems to have lost a little bit of self-assurance. How can belief be so absent when the results have been so good?

It's been torturous listening to the droning whines of ESPN commentators about the quality of play this season.

Pretty mediocre half, but we're winning and looking comfortable. Anderson/Giggs looking decent in the middle, Ferdinand looking quality again...

Would be nice to get a quick goal after the restart and afford Powell a good half hour or so.

1-0 is never comfortable in my world

What are you on about? RVP blazed a shot at goal from 35-40 yards out. He's not low on confidence, he's probably just lacking a bit of form and has a bt of fatigue. He could do with being rested. This game asked for Kagawa and Hernandez to be honest, RVP is unnecessary.

Its a bit meh but thats what happens when you have partnerships that rarely play together like Buttner-Young, Smalling-Welbeck and Giggs-Anderson. Theres no real linkup or reading what eachothers going to do. We've made shitloads of changes from the last game, with many lacking a bit of sharpness. Should still be ok, don't see particularly much danger from Reading.

Didn't read. Lolz

What a boredom 1st half. Get Kagawa in, and play him behind Rooney.

Last time we lead in a premier league game at old trafford at half time, and lost. Was 29 years ago

Didn't we lose to Pool after being up 1-0 at half time in the 4-1 loss or had they equalised by half time?

Anderson completed 97% of his 37 passes in the first half with 27% going forwards (from twitter)

Rio set up our best two chances of the game with his assist and that ball out to Young that he hit just past the post. That says it all really. Giggs is the only one playing penetrative passes. It's incredible how often Young is just completely anonymous. You'd think after missing out on the Madrid games he'd be fired up and ready to prove a point...
