He was practically un-fecking-breakable at Villa. Never got injured. Since he came to United he seems to get crocked at least once every couple of months. All very annoying.

Don't or you will find a thread on RAWK starting a petition to get Carrick tested for drugs and that's why we won the league It's a shame he is out for the rest of the season, but in reality now is probably the best time to get a bad injury.
I seem to recall a few of his injuries this season coming as a result of going into tackles trying to win the ball back. His ankles aren't holding up too well in challenges.

I am not his biggest fan, but he is really unlucky with all these injuries. So far his United career was disappointing.
I'm sorry to hear this news, but if Nani can't get a game now(when he's fit that is), well then he might as well start packing his bags now.

I know it's for the rest of the season, but how long will he actually be injured for? He shouldn't really have any excuses next season if his whole pre-season is dedicated to fitness.
Valencia, Nani, Welbeck, Kagawa, Giggs... Zaha. Sad to say it but it's gonna be hard for Ash to find place with that form caused by injury streak.

Huge blow to our title hopes. Maybe he can still play an influential part in our last few matches, which im sure would still be crucial.

Indeed. At Villa he started 37, 36, 37 and 34 games for them. Like you say, he was unbreakable. I feel that there is something amiss with our preparation. Our training games are supposed to be very physical.
I still like Young as a squad man for United. He's had a thoroughly forgettable season largely due to injuries but when fit he can turn in a nifty performance. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "fan" of Ashley Young, but a squad as big as United's has to be has to have players on like Young on the squad -- provided he's not on a wage of 150k/week or some equally ridiculous number.
It will be interesting to see whether Young survives the emergence of Zaha or the possible acquisition of a big name wide player like Bale. You'd think the exiting player has to be Nani, but maybe it will be Young. Who knows?

He's been really unfortunate with injuries for us, which IMO have really hampered his time at the club. In his first season he was producing some absolutely fantastic displays, was playing most games and then the injury really pushed him off track. Clearly wasn't match fit when playing for England, and his form there spilled over to the beginning of this season. Then a couple of injuries already this season have really hampered his progress. Big shame.
I'd like to see more of him on the right wing at some point.
He's not a huge threat on the left. I'd be interested to see his delivery from the right. He'd probably be more productive than Valencia.

I pretty much agree with this. I think the reason he's not a Caf favourite is that - and I hate these terms - even though his bottom level is quite high, his top level isn't very high either. The result is that he doesn't have big swings in consistency as someone like Nani, in comparison Young is fairly dependable and reliable which us why I think SAF trusts him a fair bit and uses him more often than not when he's fit. He doesn't have a lot of 9/10 or MOTM performances but I think he's a good squad player. Sometimes the criticism on here for him is way over the top.
Had his perfectly legitimate goal at the Etihad not been wrongly ruled offside he would have been the hero since he also assisted Rooney's first - fine margins. I also still don't have the slightest clue how the heck he ended up getting blamed for RvPs miss against Sunderland when he actually laid it on a plate for him. I actually find that ridiculous

I'm satisfied with his progress. Just disappointed he has kept getting broken this season.
I actually feel it's the opposite. When he's off (the last Sunderland game springs to mind,) I think he's absolutely useless, and brings nothing to the table. When he's in a good run of form (which hasn't happened much lately,) he's fairly dangerous, especially shooting from long range.

The thing is, when he's not producing as regularly as he did in spells last season, and for the most part at Villa, there's really nothing left except for a glorified and overpriced Park. This may sound harsh as Park was still a decent player, but a decent player isn't what should be starting week in-week out for United while the likes of Kagawa and Nani warms the bench.
And this season his output has been terrible, I don't see how we can deny this. I just don't think he's got enough impact in him to be relied upon as a first choice winger here.

This whole "Young starts too often" shit is boring. He's played less or a similar amount to Kagawa and Nani, and they've both had longer spells injured than Young. Its not like Young is consistently starting ahead of others.

Nani has played 13(5) total - 6(4) in the PL.
Young has played 17(4) total - 17(2) in the PL.
So 21 appearances to 18 isn't similar?
It's less than Young, not more. It's also far, far less in the PL, our main competition.
In fairness, it's not a fair comparison as all three of them have been injured a lot during the season. Valencia is the only winger who has been injury free a lot. Hence, the number of games Welbeck has played on the flanks and Rooney/Giggs being used there.
Young picked up most of his game-time during the period when both Kagawa and Nani were injured as well. It's not like he has been selected over Nani or Kagawa regularly. They have all had stop-start seasons.

Don't want to get into a pedantic argument but 21 as against 18 is a similar number of appearances IMO. Nani may not have made as many appearances as Young in the league but he started the Real match and Chelsea QF and they were big games.
Either way, their appearance records are more a reflection of the number of injuries they have had this season rather than Fergie preferring any of them over each other. We have rarely had them all fit at the same time and all the wingers form has been suspect.
Well it should be judged more so on starts shouldn't it, so 13 vs 17, and yeah, two big games, but what else? Pretty much everything else was the FA cup, COC, and group games of the CL. 6 league starts in contrast to 17 league starts is crazy really.

Yeah similar to Valencia in that regard. But I prefer him to Valencia myself because Young atleast has more attributes and variety in his locker. When he decides it's time to get serious, he is capable of dribbling past players and his shooting is quite good.
He did superbly well to get on to the loose ball and bringing it 40 yards to goal, but his ball to RvP was weak, and it allowed the defender to close RvP down. Watch it again.
