Adnan Januzaj

I'll tell you what aswell, I bet Fergie loves this lad. He's the skinniest kid around, yet he goes in for everything and will often hold the ball up against guys twice his size. You don't often see that at his age, especially from the most technically gifted player.

Indeed. That's what I alluded to when I said that while he didn't mind getting stuck in, he's not the biggest which is why Championship or Premiership might be a bit too soon for him. I'd prefer he got a bit of muscle on him so he'd break less easily against some of the oafs that are likely to target a skilful young lad like him.

Been given the squad number 44. Looks like he might play a part in the last four games.

That's all well and good, but how long until he leaves us to win the u21s trophy?

:(

Expect him on the bench for the last couple of matches, wouldn't see any other reason to give him squad number at this stage of the season.

Perhaps Fergie might use him wide initially...like he has with a young Fletch and Welbeck etc. If Nicky is going to be used deeper I'd be interested to see something like this for a game or two.

Amos

Buttner
Smalling
Jones
Vermijl

Carrick
Powell
Cleverley

Welbeck
Hernandez
Januzaj

Give Tunners a spot on the bench with Jesse Lingard and possibly Tom Thorpe.

I know this probably wont happen...but just sharing thoughts for the likes of Swansea at home and West Brom away. Our involvement in the latter stages of the U21 League may mean it wont be possible anyway.

Yeah unlikely but given the match is completely meaningless for both teams you never know....

Personally Id much prefer to see Cole given a chance ahead of Tunnicliffe though. We dont have anything more to learn about him....

Me too, Vermijl impressed in the game against Chelsea I think, or was it Newcastle? Maybe both. Some players just don't stand out as much until you see them in the first team.

Either way, Adnan! fecking brilliant. I'm so excited for this kid, hopefully people don't expect too much from him too soon but he's got bags and bags of potential.

Looking forward to seeing him play in the first team. Certainly an advantage of wrapping the league up early. It would be excellent if we won our next 4 games despite fielding some younger inexperienced players. Hopefully we will just play without fear and pressure and get good results, or at least worthy performances.

"The lad we have at the club now, Adnan, I can’t pronounce his name, we just call him Adnan, is the one to watch, one of the most promising talents we have had here."

David Silva, imo.

And i think, he can be equally good too if everything stays on track.

Nah he seems tall and languid to me. More Glenn Hoddle or Thomas Muller than Wilshere/Silva type imo.

High praise! I presume he includes the 90's fledglings in that comparison.

There's something special about homegrown (or relatively homegrown) talent. Can't wait to see him play for us.

Yeah I think so too. But he's also so much more. (Not that I'm Implying that he's better than Modric)

This is really all I've seen of him (although he did come on against Aberdeen pre-season I think) as I don't have MUTV now and haven't got to see a reserve game in the flesh since moving up here.

Exciting quote. Looking forward to seeing Januzaj impose himself more and more on games next year because he's definitely got the talent to do that.

Delighted that he has got a squad number. It must mean that he will have a role in the remaining games.

He couldn't be much less like Wilshere.

Hard to find a good comparison, actually. He's got a Berbatov-esque touch and languidity, but he also normally works very hard. He plays in a position which is normally dominated by small players like Silva, but he's actually fairly tall (or lanky, anyway).

He's a little like Ozil. Or perhaps Milan-era Kaka minus the pace (since Adnan's got a lot of trickery and flair about his game.)

Lovely to hear that from Ferguson. I really do feel like if he remains firm on trusting in youth, United will reap huge rewards over the next five years. Januzaj is just the first of a really incredible generation. It's important that he's able to blaze a trail for the likes of Daehli, Pearson and Pereira to follow.

Lads let's just agree that he's a mixture of the good points of Wilshere, Modric, Ozil and Silva.

Looking forward to seeing him (hopefully).

What a player...!

For what it's worth, I also think the best comparison is the Ozil one. :D

He's got 3 or 4 mentions now in the past month or so? SAF more or less gives him a mention when he mentions Powell these days.

I hope we start using him in our last few matches, as we have literally nothing to play for now (no record to break)

We can't play a weakened team against Chelsea - it wouldn't be fair to Arsenal and Spurs. For the Swansea & West Brom games there's nothing at stake for either team, so....maybe.

He reminds me a bit of Pastore from PSG in terms of style and body shape

From the Mail- not included a link because it's the Mail.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he expects Adnan Januzaj to be among the next group of youngsters to make it into the first team at Old Trafford.
But just what do we know about him?

Who is he?
An 18-year-old Kosovo-born Belgian, plucked from the Anderlecht academy in 2011. He shares the same birthday, February 5, as former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo. No pressure, lad.
Where does he play?
He’s one of those very current and fashionable ‘floating’ midfield players. He can play centrally or out wide and drift inside into the gaps – and is not hugely dissimilar in style to United’s own Shinji Kagawa. He has excellent vision and awareness and has that knack of instinctively seeking out space and angles amongst the gangs of opponents. He has tended to start games on the right hand side of midfield, but is in fact left-footed. He is also a superb taker of set-pieces.

One to watch: Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped Adnan Januzaj (left) to go all the way at Manchester United
What does Fergie reckon?
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed, this week giving the Belgian youngster the squad number 44, as the boss looks to hand opportunities to youth players after sealing the Premier League title last week. Fergie has today said: 'Younger players are the foundation for the next five or six years, like Adnan Januzaj, the Belgian boy, who’s really looking very good.'
It is not the first time the United has spoken out enthusiastically about Januzaj. Earlier this season, he told Inside United: “Adnan is a beautifully balanced player. He’s only 18 and still to grow into his frame. But he has good balance, good acceleration and he’s a very good technical player.”
How much does he want to make it?
So often, we see talented youngsters who lack the industry to go alongside the invention – Ravel Morrison a notable example - but regular observers of Manchester United at youth level have been impressed by the dedication of Januzaj and his determination to succeed.
He has had very few problems settling, and staff have been taken by his enthusiasm. Reserve team coach Warren Joyce says: 'He’s grown up a certain way and I think he has had a tremendous education over in Belgium. He’s come over here with good technique and is desperate to be a footballer as well so he’s got a lot of things going for him.'

Track record: Sir Alex Ferguson has brought through his fair share of youngsters at Old Trafford
Another young, talented Belgian! After Eden Hazard, Moussa Dembele, Jan Verthonghen and Christian Benteke, is Januzaj going to take the league by storm next season?
Well, he hasn’t made a single first-team appearance yet, except for a friendly against Aberdeen during pre-season. So, let’s not be too hasty. But there could be room for a talented midfield player in the United side next season. Central midfield has long been a concern, with Darren Fletcher unwell, Paul Scholes seemingly set to retire while Anderson flatters to deceive.
On the wings, Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young have all had poor seasons, so who is to say that Fergie will not plump for youth and unleash Januzaj and new recruit Wilfried Zaha on a consistent basis next season?
What could hold him back?
United have a good track record of giving young players an opportunity. If he’s good enough, age will be no barrier. The major concern may lie around his physique, with his body still developing at the age of 18. He suffered prolonged injury problems in his first 18 months with the club, and it is only this season that he has remained fit on a consistent basis.
Coach Joyce outlines the plan: 'Adnan is still developing but there’s no doubt he’s got talent too. He’s got a good footballing brain and a good touch. We’re trying to get him stronger and fitter and he’s getting to know the Manchester United style of play as well.'

Comparison: Januzaj is from the same mould as current United player Shinji Kagawa
And what does Januzaj have to say for himself….
He seems a nice lad and grateful to be playing football, telling the club's official website: 'Ever since I was five, I’ve loved to play football and always had the ball at my feet. I am just trying to make a career in it because I really love football and I hope to keep going and do something for the future.'
CURRENT RATING: 2/5
POTENTIAL RATING: 4/5

He's not really in the Kagawa mould is he?? Not watched hell of a lot of Januzaj but he seems to be more in the Silva mould

Well it says out of all the current United players. I guess he is the closest at the moment- although Januzaj does like to cross the ball and can take set pieces as well.
