From what I've seen RVP misses more sitters than Rooney though he does score spectacular goals as well
Exactly. Rooney and Hernandez are players I'd much rather have at the end of those sort of chances than RvP.

Rafael has been a bit shit, the rest has been average.

I thought for until 30 minutes this was the best half we have played in pre season so far by a country mile. Anderson and Nani ripped them apart. I really hope it's not another hammy for Nani though but it certainly looks that way.

Terrible performance. Nani about the only player who showed some quality, and he went off injured - feck!

By far Zaha's worst performance. I blame the hair.

Anyone slightly worried by our lack of cutting edge even though we have most of our first team lineup starting in terms of attacking lineup? (cue 5 goals in the 2nd half)... I just feel this side needs some injection of quality.

Nah, I mean Valencia young and nani have barely played, look how much cutting edge nani gave us in half an hour. Rvp hasn't quite hit goal scoring form yet, but still Hernandez and potentially Rooney to come back. Plus kagawa had barely featured and you'd expect him to give some creativity in the middle.

Bebe on instead of Zaha at some point and I mean that. Zaha's been pretty dissapointing this half.

Anyone see that marquee signing quote mutv add?
feck me, he was annoying.

We're pretty much 4-3-3 and whilst the midfielders are knocking some decent balls through and over the top, none are really supporting RVP or covering the wingers so it's not particularly inspiring at the moment with just the front three around the box when we're attacking.

Really? Was it three seasons ago that Ferguson said that Rooney would never score tap-ins? Just because RVP misses the odd sitter doesn't mean that most strikers don't do the same. I've seen Messi miss an open goal from six yards and Ronaldo has done just as mind boggling things. I think you remember bits and pieces here.

Thought we did very well as long as Nani was on

That, and Zaha, although great with the ball, seems like he has no clue what the other players might be up to at times. Even Ando stopped smiling at one point!!

Jesper Blomqvist has just wandered in. I bet he wasn't even meant to be there.

Well, they've given him a microphone, so they must like him enough to keep him.

I thought we've played well, don't see where people are criticising the lack of cutting edge. The amount of chances Zaha had to play the ball in the box and didn't play the right ball were countless, but with a bit of a better final ball there'll be loads of chances.

I think we're just lacking people attacking centrally and quality in the crosses. Giggs seems to have dropped quite deep and we've lost the thrust through the middle on terms of the midfield bringing the ball forward, that would allow the wingers to try and make a diagonal run. Plus they look like they're a decent team.

I won't comment about Rooney but in the past season I've seen RVP miss a lot of sitters. Most of his goals are sublime

The Nani praise was a bit ridiculous. He had a few runs in a friendly match that's all.

He's missed lots of the so called easy chances in the past season.

I thought we did alright, we clearly still lack some sharpness in the final ball and crossing.

We are going to see more frustrating performances from Zaha. He's a little over enthusiastic. Always doing that unnecessary trick when a simple pass would suffice. It's all a part of his learning process. Van Persie seems a bit off lately. Entertaining match so far. AIK's left winger is having a blinder today.

We're just saying what's painfully obvious that he's by far our best winger. Just so unlucky that he got injured, and had terrible luck last season.

I'm never against players doing one or two tricks too many. Zaha though looks a bit clumsy and not always in control of what he's doing.

I just feel that when the likes of Kagawa and Janzuaj are not in the side, we seem to lack direction and intelligence. Its abit like watching England attempt a 4-3-3, straight line passing and just low on quality all round. RVP also looks slow, and not enough chances being created for my liking or dynamic play.

His control when receiving the ball on his chest is easily one of the best I've seen. Nani is one of our best players, a team with Nani and Rooney on form, with RVP in it as well would easily win the league. It's a shame Rooney may be leaving.

Almost fellaini like.

Final ball is pretty much the only fault I've found with Zaha all pre season. Thats something he needs coaching on, he will improve, and I think he will improve fast. His natural ability is up there with the best we have had at that age.

"And Januzaj" already? feck me sideways, he hasn't even made a competitive appearance yet. He's no where near first team regular

I haven't seen a compilation of his goals last season, but I do remember quite a few of them being from within the six yard box, thus considered sitters. I think he doesn't really miss many more sitters than your other top strikers - as I said, I've seen Messi miss an open goal from close range. Hernandez rarely misses those though, but he too does from time to time.

That said, no doubt that RVP should have buried that chance. And is it just me, or does Evra look quicker? Looks to have had a good pre-season. Makes a few sloppy mistakes though, trying to make things too fancy.

I thought Nani looked very, very sharp in the first half. Basically laid on a goal for Zaha, who decided to slice it. Then his great take and run set up a great RvP chance.
