This Dortmund stuff came all up after he stated that he wants to play for Dortmund again one day if they take him back but hell even Ronnie said he wants to play for Manchester United again one day and he hasn't returned yet.

Of course this all might change if he this season again can't get a starter spot in our team and we might bring in an alternative or Januzaj turns out to be world class a pushes ahead of him but so far I think this season will be his break through and he will be our main man behind the striker which will mean Dortmund will have to wait a few more seasons until their lost son returns.

Read: forever. He's not a German and he's got no real ties to the club besides playing there for two years. If he's a success here (and I fully expect him to be), I don't see him ever going back except in very exceptional circumstances (United become shit and drop out of the CL, for example).

Well why did he say then that he wants to play for Dortmund again one day if they will take him?

Like I said the best chance for him going back there is if he can't make it here for whatever reason but I also doubt it will happen any time soon but of course you never know if we don't end up signing an amazing attacking midfielder that will put Kagawa back on the bench or like I said Januzaj turns out to be absolutely world class.

But yeah of course the chances of that happening anytime soon I think are fairly small and Kagawa should have the quality to make it at our club.

No I didn't miss it. You're missing my point. I'm saying that once Kagawa settles in and becomes an important part of our team, he won't want to go back to Dortmund. He has no special ties to them, really. But obviously it's something that he won't stop considering an option until he is a firm success with us, hence the quotes.

Once Kagawa becomes an important part of our team, but if he doesnt? He wont be the first good player that for some reason or another just never does.

That's exactly what I have been writing all along.

If he does make it here these thoughts will be fast forgotten but if he doesn't it's a possibility for him that he surely will consider, especially because the fans still love him there and he had the best two season of his life with them.

He was obviously touched that Klopp and the fans still holds him in such high regard which might have triggered the response but I think it's also fair to say that he holds the club who helped make him the player he is now in pretty high regards.

Fair enough. I thought when you said 'this season will be his break through and he will be our main man behind the striker which will mean Dortmund will have to wait a few more seasons until their lost son returns' that you meant that he might return after a few seasons even if he is a success with us, which I don't see happening.
 
Well a "few" probably wasn't the correct word but you never know what happens, so putting an exact time frame of how long he will be with us is a bit difficult. If everything works out for him and for us he might be here well past his thirties.

So we'll give him another week's rest. I think Shinji's going to do some training with the club, so he can have some more time at home in Japan. He'll do some training here.”


So, we shortened his holidays just because we had to have him playing in Japan because of the sponsors obviously, and now when he has played those games, he will return to his holidays for another week, even tough we have community shield and Premiership starting in two-three weeks, so he will miss pretty much whole preseason. So, we shouldn't be surprised to see him having more injuries next season.

Overtraining and not having a proper break between seasons is just as likely to cause injury as under-preparing. I'm sure making sure every player gets a decent rest has as much to do with their fitness as it does with wanting them to have a holiday.

Of course he should get his 4 weeks rest, I never said he shouldn't. I ain't no fitness coach, but the things that worries me is that we are interrupting his holidays just to have him train one week and play one and a half pointless game(s).

Oh I see. Well, I suppose it's irritating because it's clearly down to the financial stuff that he had to play in Japan. But he himself actually asked to end his holiday early for good because he wanted to get training with Moyes as quickly as possible. So I don't think he'll have minded that much.
 
I'm sure it's just down to that financial side of stuff, and it'ss really irritating, but I guess that's what football is all about.
 
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawarejected the chance to return to the Bundesliga this summer.

A knee injury restricted the Japan international to just 17 starts in the Premier League last season following his arrival from Dortmund in June 2012.

Kagawa is currently with United's squad for their tour of Asia and netted in the club's 2-2 draw with Cerezo Osaka on Friday.

Klopp, whose side secured a 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Supercup on Saturday, says that he contacted the 24-year-old regarding his availability but was told that he wanted to remain at Old Trafford.

"This is not an issue for him this year, not even for us," the BVB coach told Sky.

"It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once."

Sounds like Klopp will take him back if things do not work out this season.
 
Seems to have not been mentioned much, but I cannot recall a worse performance from a United player than Kagawa today. Didn't touch the ball for the first 20 minutes, then wasted two golden chances, then disappeared again.

If that's the player that's going to be replacing Wayne Rooney as our key creative force in, oh, 2 days we're in so much trouble it's funny.

Complete crock of shit. It was a friendly. He hasnt had a proper rest this summer nor has he been training with the team as much. Kagawa is quality and how you cannot see that proves you dont know what you are talking about.

I like Shinji, and it's a friendly, but what was today about? He was absolutely woeful.

If he's not fit yet, the season starts in 2 days.
 
So? since when is every player ever ready for the start of the season? He had the confed cup, two games in japan and not much rest. Not to mention Klopp keeps making eyes at him and he like everyone else is getting to know the manager. Be patient.

We played him on the left...again....even without Rooney in the team.

Unlikely when we have RVP and Carrick around but it'll be very interesting to see.

I would argue Carrick is MUCH more important to our team than Rooney.

Take Carrick out of midfield and we turn completely to shit - take Rooney out and we still score goals.

I was talking about who is better.

More important can have little to do with comparative quality. Carrick is more important to us right now than xavi is to barcelona but it's only because we don't have another quality midfielder and neither one who can defend.
 
In the Japan squad for their friendly on wednesday in Japan. Flying to Japan and back must put his availability for the Swansea match in doubt; I can't imagine he'll be in any state to start the match.
 
If that's true, and Rooney is indeed out of contention, then I hope we start Januzaj at #10. I know it's a massive step for the lad, but I'd rather see someone suitable but inexperienced playing there than a more senior player playing out of position there. Specifically I don't want to see Giggs there, which is something I'm afraid Moyes might opt for.

He doesn't seem to be anywhere match fit yet, especially not for the premier league fit yet so I doubt he'd be in real contention to start anyway. Maybe the second or third game he'll be more ready to start.

A good game for Japan might boost his confidence a bit.
If he doesn't play vs Swansea I wouldn't mind Januzaj, RvP(behind Welbeck) or even Giggs there.
 
More than anything, he just needs to steer clear of injuries and that will coincide with a good run of form, I have no doubt.

Couple of points on the debate that is unfolding about his position, I'd like to think that we'll be looking to develop a fluid and interchanging system. I've a feeling that Moyes is going to favour, roughly, a 4-2-3-1, which always allows the forwards to drift around. Secondly, the likes of Mata, Silva and Cazorla have all produced outstanding form playing a variety of attacking positions, including out wide - if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for Shinji.
