Liverpool vs. Man United

Any chance of Rafael being back? He's had some good gamed against Liverpool. Jones is a decent fill-in defensively but not a real full-back and certainly no substitute for Rafa.
Speaking to
MUTV
on Friday, Moyes explained: “To be fair, we have got very few injuries, only Rafa really. Jonny got a game, which we felt he needed because he had missed a bit of pre-season, coming in and out at different times.
“Nani has done more training and is getting closer to it, Chicharito has had a hamstring but he has trained for the last three or four days and is doing much better. So we are very close to full strength. Maybe it is only Rafa who is a doubt.”
I'd much rather Fabio at fullback than Jones or Smalling.

Just heard on BBC football focus... We have scored only twice from free kicks in the past 3 seasons... That's insane. (Guessing it means direct from free kick, not assists from FK).

It isn't that unbelievable, who have we had in that time who consistently tries to score directly from them?

What? 2 FK's scored in 114 games? I don't care if we don't shoot every time from them, but you'd expect more than 2.

Surely that's not true?

last 3 seasons i.e 12/13,11/12,10/11. Rooney scored twice against Arsenal, once against WHU. RVP scored against City. That's 4 already

It doesn't count cause Young touched the ball before Rooney shot at both times.

We scored a lot of goals after crossing from free kicks, which is probably better to do than wasting most of those on ridiculous long shots that never end in goal anyway.

In which case that stat is pretty worthless, because we've scored more than a few from taking them like that. Rooney almost always prefers to take them like that these days.

Arrrgh! Just noticed the fecking 1:30pm kickoff, going around my parents for Sunday lunch and I can't watch the game from there.

I can just see it now.

Arrive at 13:00
13:05 *nom nom nom, slurrp, nom nom slurp* "No need to bolt down your food, Daniel"
13:10 Rush to boil kettle. "But Daniel we haven't fini--" "Sugar, mum?"
13:15 "Aww, lovely to see you, thanks for lunch" - "Daniel, you were going to tell us about your new jo--"
13:20 *Sound of car screeching off parents drive and down the road*
13:21 *Burrrp*

How did you get promoted?

What's wrong with Giggs starting in AM or LW?

I thought people were only unsure of him playing in CM?

Bloody Giggs.

I hate Liverpool-United games. Always really high charged encounters and in general the football is atrocious. I can't see it being any different tomorrow. Also, as a fan they are usually 90 mins of agony and nervousness.

With Rooney out i'd field:

---------DDG----------
Jones--Rio--Vidic---Evra
Anderson--Carrick--Cleverly
Valencia----------Welbeck
-----------RVP------------

Bench: Lindegaard, Smalling, Fabio, Giggs, Young, Kagawa, Hernandez

If Rooney is out, we've got either Giggs, Anderson or Kagawa who could take his place. I would opt for Kagawa if he was fit but sadly I think he is still playing catch up... could see Giggs starting in Rooney's place.

Or Welbeck in the middle and somebody else left wing - Young I guess.

Would prefer Kagawa though for sure.

Does anyone know what time this will hit the torrents? I'm going on a canoe trip today and won't be back until later this evening so will miss the game and will need to download it later of possible.

Big blow if Rooney is out.

I know he doesn't often play well there, but none of our boys do!

Hope we can put that right for once, as it's Moyes 13th visit to Anfield and he's looking for a first win!
