La Liga 2013-2014

Modric looks like he's ready to become Madrid's playmaker now with Ancelotti running things and Alonso out of the picture for the next few weeks. Not seen this kind of confidence from him in a long while.

Did Bilbao just bring on a couple of midfielders that weren't Herrera?

A MEN journalist's just tweeted that a deal's been agreed between United & Bilbao:

He would be so good running around our midfield like he is today :(

Modric bossing the midfield right now.

Isco is incredible, he's going to be one of the best players in the world.

Isco taking all the limelight early in the season and rightly so too! He has been brilliant for Madrid so far.

Great first touch for that finish. They are in second gear.

Neat goal from Athletic - static defending though. Plenty of bodies but just missed him completely.

Yeah it looked a bit easy for them. Madrid looked like they'd sort of switched off a bit since a win is all but in the bag for them.

Sergio Ramos yet again getting away with one of his trademark "challenges"... if that had been outside the box it would've always been called IMO.

Modric and Isco flourishing in Carlo's 4-3-3, Cristiano so far no great shakes, probably down to his usual slow start but might also be because he's afforded less space than in José's 4-2-3-1 and he needs to adjust to that.

It'll be interesting to see if that current system they have is disrupted when Bale comes in. And whether Ronaldo finds himself playing a central role a lot more often like he was towards the end of the match today.
