CL Group Stage, Matchday 1

Apparently Ronaldo was missing everything in the first half, and Isco was the man. Sorted himself out in the second.

Andy Gray: "And here's Arjen Robben, whose goal at Wembley last year was very important."

Well no fecking shit Andy, it was only the winner in the dying minutes of a Champions League final. fecks sake.

Just seen the Real Sociedad highlights (admittedly a Spanish edit) - Shakhtar took their chances well, Real really didn't do anything with theirs.

Ronaldo's hat trick goal against Galatasary tonight. Scrumptious...

Weiss played briefly for Asspanyol (loan) and was excellent, glad to see him out of Barcelona

I cant help but not get that excited about our group, it feels like its a replay of last seasons run to the EL final!

I know some prefer the average/poorer sides in the group stages, but the bigger games get you exited early on, and provide better tests. Schalke will be a decent match but Basel and Steau are those sides which will shock you if you're not taking them seriously, but at the same time give off that feeling of less pressure which is dangerous.

Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Lampard, Van Ginkel, Oscar, Hazard, Willian, Eto'o.

Glad Van Ginkel is getting a run out, I really hope he can replace Mikel long term.

Barcelona starting XI:

Valdes(C)
Alves Pique Mascherano Adriano
Cesc Busquets Iniesta
Alexis Messi Neymar
Bartra & Montoya still not getting any minutes, gotta think this is a club decision regarding their renewals

That's a disappointingly good starting XI.

crappy one-sided games tonight except for Napoli-Dortmund. That should be good.

Was watching SSN last night. Holy feck but the Jose wank fest was beyond belief. He was talking some shite about eggs and him being the father of the eggs and they lapped it up. In the ten minutes I was watching they showed it 3-4 times.

No surprises at Dortmund's starting XI:

Weidenfeller - Schmelzer, Hummels, Subotic, Großkreutz - Bender, Sahin - Reus, Mhiki, Kuba - Lewandowski

I don't get it, our transfers this summer have been quietly not much better if not worse than Uniteds.

We fail to get in a top quality striker, loan out a promising one, keep one who doesn't even make the bench most games, buy a relic, and god knows where Ba will fit in, then our biggest signing is in a position we're already sorted in.

Some questions need answering, especially if our lack of a striker really starts to affect us.

I think Roman had a stroke recently and since that day thinks football is only plays with attacking mids and wingers.
