Mesut Özil

Yeah, that Rooney was ace, but I can't think of any players out there like that at the moment.

Same, but I'm hoping guys like Barkley and Janzuaj turn into that sort of player. I'm tired of seeing number 10's in the modern game who are very pretty and silky, like your Silva's and what not but they fade in high tempo matches, play alot of safe passes and don't go for goal enough themselves.

Kagawa could match Rooney's scoring from last season when played in that role. He's a very direct player who loves to get into scoring positions, he's very different to Özil.

True he was like that for Dortmund, but I can't see him being given the chance unless Rooney's dropped or injured.

I'd like to see

Carrick-Fellaini
Nani Kagawa Janzuaj
RVP
If he is given the chance to play there and still doesn't excel then he's not good enough.

There is seemingly no end to all the things Kagawa could do. Quite possibly the best player ever to not show anything in a United shirt.
I was more talking about the type of player he is compared to Özil, didn't mean to make a prediction of what could be when. He scored 21 goals in 49 games for Dortmund in the league, that's pretty good for a very young player in that role and it's weird to suggest, he can't play there because you need goals from that player.

Is it out of position?
Yes.

Completed more passes in the final third (34) during the game vs Sunderland than any other player has in a PL match this season.

I want us to play this team, I do.

Players like Shinji drift around looking for space, they are rarely held to one position. I like that system, I have said for while that is the system I would like to see, and the one I believe suits most of our players best. However I would have Kagawa on the left instead of Januzaj, Rooney in the hole, and he and shinji can swap positions as they see fit. It would suit them both I believe.

Solid debut from the German. Tough times ahead though, when team start putting hatchet men onto him. He's good enough to sort them out, but where we have an advantage now is that if they focus on Mesut, we have Santi, Jack and Aaron waiting to take on the creative responsibilities.

This will be a far more interesting season than the last few for us. Hopefully we won't be scrabbling around for 4th again.

Also, the younger lads will learn loads from him. The quality of play automatically improves when you have someone around you who is that good. Bit like how Cesc made Ade and Hleb look better players than they were.

A little compilation here of his game. The touch, the poise, the weight of his passes all a joy to watch.

A good watch, great ability to play the pass forward between players. Too many times we keep moving the ball sideways because our players aren't confident enough to pass forward through tight spaces. He made Wilshere & Ramsay look better as well yesterday imo.

Yep. Although I do think Ramsey is in magnificent form. I didn't realise he had those finishes in him, really. It's just nice to see so many players performing so well at once.

Surprised at how good he's been. I suppose I had - sort of - written him off a bit. Very nice bonus for you if he actually turns out to justify the hype that surrounded him a few years ago.
Can't see him providing a brace every other round, though. So, the real question is whether you have the players to consistently finish off those moves that you are - unquestionably - capable of creating. Over the course of a whole season, I mean. If so, Arsenal will be a handful, even if I would still question your solidity at the back.
Oh, and that German lad, whatshisface, looks half decent.

Cazorla to play on the wing then when he's back ? Too many playmakers in the side maybe ? Maybe Arsenal will lack width

Our fullbacks will be able to provide the width and Cazorla & Ozil can drift wide when required as well. We're not a team who rely on wing play much so things won't be much different.

As for Cazorla, yes he should play on the wing for us but I think him and Ozil will interchange frequently. As for too many playmakers, you can never have enough :D To be fair apart from Cazorla & Ozil there isn't a player in our squad who I'd rely on for a final pass, Wilshere/Ramsay/Rosicky can both break forward with runs but not with passes imo. Rosicky could in the past but his final pass is unreliable now. Having both will also mean both can be rotated and rested as well, Cazorla struggled around Christmas time for us but we had no options. Another problem has been Jack's fitness and he needs to be more heavily rotated whether he likes it or not. Ramsay naturally has stamina but he'll need a rest as well and for once it gives us options. We can set up the side with a lot of creativity to blow the opposition team or set up more defensively minded with Flamini & Arteta in the side. Our main problem is up top though and having just Giroud & Podolski as our experienced strikers, Theo can do a job there but his strength is on the wing and I think he has realised that.

Ramsey has been like that for a few months now. I wonder what would happen if he didn't horribly break his leg. He could only better than now.

Only left for him is to realize how shit he's at set pieces now.

What's funny is that I've been reading on the Caf about Ramsey being one of the worst players in the EPL.....mostly in the Newbs, but it's still funny.

I was among the people who were laughing at him being clumsy many times. I think he is a completely different player than the one who used to miss chances after chances. Plus he's so young and had that injury. I was really harsh with him.

Yeah, that's where Cazorla is going to play. It's his best position IMO. He overloads the central midfield and creates an advantage for Arsenal. Ozil is best utilised down the middle. Walcott missed two great chances yesterday, but I'd be very surprised if he doesn't score more than 20 goals this season with the supply given to him.

One step at a time my friend ;) Ozil looks much better at corners and I think Santi/Podolski should be our freekick takers

Wenger showed incredible patience with him but then again we were so short there we didn't have many other options! Forget about opposition fans he used to get a lot of stick in our home games from our fans. Since last season he has got better and better, now is brimming with confidence. We need to show similar patience with Jack now and ease him in rather than all this pressure he is under to perform for club and country.

Not just you and the opposition, there were enough Arsenal supporters blaming him for our disastrous run last season, atleast till March, when he really started to show his qualities.

I wasn't convinced he'd shine. I think this new look midfield and him playing through the centre is working very well for him. Let's hope he carries this on. Wenger deserves massive credit for sticking with him IMO.

He's not going to score bucket loads admittedly. But he's already hit 5 goals, so there's no reason to think he couldn't hit 15.

What I don't get with Ramsey, despite having seen him basically every week, is why he's now getting on the end of moves when he didn't before. His position hasn't noticeably changed. Maybe he just has the confidence now to run on in attack and have a go once in a while. His first goal yesterday was absolutely world class. If Ozil had done that, the press would have gone mental.

Not going to lie either - I criticised Ramsey immensely last year, but I feel for good reason. He kept losing the ball in dangerous areas and he really just wasn't up to scratch for a top 4 side. He's changed though - he's quicker, sharper and has cut out a lot of the errors. Well done to Wenger but I guess he saw something on the training ground that we in the ground couldn't see.

You weren't alone Kouroux.

His injury was potentially career-ending, so it was always going to take a lot of time to get over not only physically, but mentally too. Luckily he has a strong personality and is finally showing the talent he was before his injury.

He has been magnificent so far this season, already reaching his highest goal tally for a season and has laid the most tackles in the PL. His engine is phenomenal.

Good thing we yoinked RVP.

Imagine Ozil and RVP together. Unstoppable frate trane.

See Darren Fletcher.

Same thing really, United fans used to be livid with a young Fletch until he started beasting that CM role for us

I'd agree much like Ronaldo benifited at Madrid from Ozil I think Theo is the one who will benefit mostly at Arsenal. Expect a massive upturn in goals and performances from Theo this season.

I think Cazorla will benefit as well, less pressure on him because he won't be marked as heavily. I think having another player who probably is even more intelligent than him on the pitch will see them link up well. Also having both means we can afford to rotate a bit when one is feeling tired.

I agree, Podolski and Walcott will benefit from the balls being played through behind the defender. Cazorla will definitely benefit from not being the centre of the oppositions attentions every game. Being able to rotate them both too will be a godsend.

On a side note: I can't wait to see Cazorla, Ozil and Wilshere link up.

That midfield is as good as any.
