He disallowed Sevilla's equaliser for an imaginary foul.
Last season with Barca losing 1-0 to Osasuna with 15 minutes to play, Messi scored an offside goal. He allowed it and red carded an Osasuna player for protesting. Barca went on to win 1-2.
He's got a track record of poor decisions, usually in favour of the big two; he's pretty crap at his job. But last night's performance was truly exceptional because of the sheer number of poor decisions. Individually - no second yellow for Ramos, generous foul for the freekick Ronaldo scored, the penalty call - they're just mistakes, all in one match and it's no wonder Elche are feeling aggrieved.
I doubt we'll see him ref Madrid again this season. However even if he does get punished in some way, I doubt it'll be made public.

I just don't understand how a ref like this still gets games at this level.
It wasn't really "imaginary".. Alves was pushed, but either way even if you disagree with the decision it didn't affect the outcome of the game that much, when it actually looked like he helped Sevilla a bit by postponing their equalizer till the last minute of the game, but Barcelona won it fair an square in the end anyway.. To compare that with what happened yesterday is off IMO.
Not saying that Barcelona never get decisions their way, but let's not name random games and claim that it was as bad as anything else..
Anyway I agree that this ref is a pretty poor one, I have seen him ruin many games before, surprised he still gets to referee big games.

Yeah, offcourse I'm not saying it is, just that these Barca players always whine when decisions go our way while they have some very dodgy ones going their way aswell.

The head of the refs has come out and said that Muniz must have been in the wrong condition to officiate - "I don't know why, family trouble, something, maybe he knows." He also pointed out that the players don't help, when they're trying to trick the ref, rather than play football. He wouldn't mind using more technology to help the ref either.

I disagree. I think there is far more whining going from other players and fans about Barcelona getting calls than from the Barcelona players about them not getting calls or about their rivals getting them.
Time to mention Fede again, 20 year old left footed right winger starting for Valencia. Valencia's form has picked up and they're getting points on the board now and their best performer overall so far is Fede. Can be a little bit Messi-ish at times, a bit Silva-ish at other times but needs to work on his productivity a bit before he should really be mentioned with names like that. Last week he got his first assist with a good run down the left and ball into the box. And he shoots 2nd most often for Valencia, while plenty have been good efforts he needs to get on the scoresheet a bit more often as he's yet to get one this season. However on top of being a good dribbler with his small frame and low centre of gravity, good at setting people free with a short pass, ability to have a good shot at goal and his general impressive technical ability, he also averages 5 tackles a game so far this season. Especially impressive as Valencia have been a steaming pile of shit at the start of the season and it shows that when hes played he's worked hard, even defensively, to try and keep them in the fight for points. The 5 tackles is joint most of Valencia's players with Oriol Romeu on loan from Chelsea and statistically Fede is in the top 10 performers so far this season in la liga at 10th.
For one reason or another Isco couldnt get into the Valencia team before moving on to Malaga. Fede is Valencia's best player so far. Should definitely be one to keep an eye on

I'm too lazy to look for quotes but I'm pretty certain Xavi and a few others have made similar comments in the past.
They whined all through 2011-12 about only getting penalties in situations where they didn't matter and not getting the decisive ones (unlike Madrid). Xavi moans about anti-football, the pitch and the ref every time they drop points. They're a perfectly normal football team when they lose.
They don't lose often enough for it to be a high volume of moaning, not compared to their opponents. It's just consistent - it's easy to be quiet or complimentary about refs, when you're winning.

I disagree. They were denied a crucial penalty against Espanyol at the death (the game ended 1-1) in 2011-2012, and they didn't make a big fuss about it at all.. Compare it to the Madrid theatrics whenever they don't get a call that affects the outcome of a game.
Also compare the situation when they were eliminated by dodgy calls from the CL (against Chelsea (Terry's goal), against Inter (a couple of penalty shouts and Bojan's winner)...) to those when they win it after controversial calls (against Chelsea and Mourinho's Real Madrid). The amount of rage and whining is no way the same..

It's not a counter-point; it's a statement of fact.
Interesting player. Valencia previously made sound and intelligent appointments of entrenadores rather than emotional ones (after Rainieri: Cuper - Benitez - Sanchez Flores - Emery all seemed to be young, academically astute trainers. But interspersed are appointments appearing to be more of the optimistic, name oriented type: Raniere 2nd time, Koeman, Pellegrino. Djukic would appear to be of the latter category, hope I'm mistaken.
During the more sensible reigns, Valencia have always managed to bring forth exiting, young footballers, whether from their own ranks or from scouting set ups in South America. I think these two factors have postponed and somewhat masked some of the likely detrimental effects of all the economical and social chaos in the club.
I hope Djukic has got the knowledge and support to bring players like Fede to the front of the team's development.

Djukic did an excellent job at Valladolid, got them playing decent football like most promoted clubs seem to be doing in Spain over the past 2-3 seasons, and also married that to decent results (14th spot). After a rocky but not altogether disastrous start he's racked up two consecutive wins. Banega is looking like a stand-out player again and if Pabon can find his Betis form again he'll be great for them. Jonas and Postiga should both be able to get at least 10 league goals, but Soldado will of course be hugely missed.
I'm looking forward to the development of guys like Fede (very promising so far), Bernat, Carlos Gil (on loan at Elche) and Paco Alcácer. And who knows maybe this could be the season that Canales doesn't miss over half of it through injury?
