Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa was poor in the first half and Januzaj looked a lot more threatening

Easily the best player of the first half. Only Nani was up to his level.

If he's not injured, then I've lost a lot of faith in Moyes. I could deal with Kagawa being eased into things, despite being 100% physically fit. But to take him off after such a good half, is just wrong.

Sorry, but you clearly have an agenda. Rooney's performance wasn't "shite", but Kagawa's first half performance was poor? Ok.

I really can't understand why he went off at HT? Did he have a knock?

This could well be case, though it's equally likely he just doesn't know what to do with a player like Kagawa. I think he's more comfortable with players that fit a get-ball-wide/cross-ball philosophy.

Hence why his wide players for Everton last year were Everton and Mirallas. Proper old-school wingers, them.

.

Absolute rubbish. I know some people have built him up into a savior figure, and therefore will hype up any little thing he does. But he's done nothing yet this season to justify that blind faith I am afraid.

Rooney wasn't great but he played better than Kagawa. Mind you, it did surprise me that he got taken off. Would have given him 15 mins to prove himself

And there we have one of many proofs that your opinion on Kagawa shouldn't count. Seriously, did Kagawa pee in your beer or something?

You're one to talk. Kagawa was nowhere one of the best players in the half

Who except for Nani was better than Kagawa in the first half?

Januzaj did ok when he came on, and probably made a case of moving in front of Young at least, but what is with Moyes' treatment of Kagawa. He was certainly better than some of the other players and were far better options to come off than him. It really looks like he might not have a future here.

ha ha, your location gives you away. No point discussing with a fanboy who has too much of Kagawas cock down his throat to see reality.

One thing is for sure, we were awfull after he was subbed off. Might be a coincidence though, but who knows. He certainly wasn't poor in first half, I thought he was good. I just hope he wasn't subbed off because Moyes tought he was poor.

He was fine in the first half, he didn't exactly set things alight but he wasn't poor by any means either. If he didn't pick up a knock it was a harsh decision to take him off at half.

Our system has been programmed to keep passing the ball to the flanks. When Kagawa roams infield, Buttner overlaps and then either loses the ball or puts in a half arsed cross. His biggest strength is one touch passing and releasing the ball when he's in tight spaces to create more space for others. Instead of going through the same old pass to the flanks and put in a cross routine, we should try to involve him more into the game centrally. He can inflict more damage am sure.

He doesn't stamp his authority in the game. He created our best chance of the game and could have done more if RvP was ahead of him. But still not that great but he was certainly not bad.

I really don't get what the people criticising him see when they say he's been poor. Because he doesn't turn a few times and play a cross against the first defender?

Oh, so because I like Kagawa, I'm completely blinded by his mistakes?:wenger:

In my experience, haters are way more deluded than fanboys when it comes to judging players. The reason is simple: the fanboys WANT the player to succeed, more than anything, so they're gonna feel awful everytime the player doesn't perform well, and as a result; NOTICE it.

The haters on the other hand, will remain completely blinded until the player reaches Ronaldo level. Then they will crawl out of their mom's basement and pretend like they never hated the player at all. But if the player then has a bad game, they'll forever be ready to criticize him. Once a hater, always a hater...

I thought the Kagawa sub was a poor one tbh. At half-time RVP for Hernandez or Fellaini for Anderson seemed more reasonable options.

Moyes said on soccer Saturday interview that he was looking for another way, whatever that means.

So he hooks off Kagawa after he has a solid first half, where he and the rest of the team have created a few chances. But does feck all against City when we're 2-0 down and have created nothing.

For the first time, I'm gonna have to criticize Moyes. That decision is just completely mindblowingly stupid beyond comparison. Kagawa was all over the attacking third, making everyone else's job much, much easier. He also created 2-3 chances and kept possession well in situations where other players would have lost it. I can only remember him making one mistake, and that mistake didn't lead to anything. It also came after receiving a poor pass...

So he plays well in a game and we sub him at half time? Even young wasn't subbed at half time against city.

And you have cheek of saying no one should take my opinions seriously when it comes to Kagawa.

Poor decision to take off Kagawa. He was not playing nearly that badly to have been pulled at the half. Should have given him at least 15 minutes in the second half!

If anyone should have come off it was Buttner. Just not a good enough left back for us defensively and didn't offer much going forwards either.

I just hope Moyes can actually find the sense to stick with Shinji because he is clearly more talented than Valencia and Young combined.

This.

This too.

What made it worse is that after we subbed Kagawa we lost all coherence in the final third. I genuinely don't understand the reasoning behind any of Moyes' subs today.

I wonder if it is possible to ignore users on this forum, so that whenever that poster posts something, there's just a blank space? I'm usually a fan of democracy and everyone having their own opinion, but listening to hobos screaming absurdities will eventually get old and boring. It was fun in the beginning, but not anymore..

He was quite good in the first. Still not completely at home on the left but much better than the last game.

Young's performance vs City didnt deserve a change at HT but this did? Really?
