Manchester United Vs Southampton

Barring injuries, I don't think he will change it up much.

I don't think Januzaj will start this one. Moyes won't want it all going overboard too quickly and I think he will start him on he bench. He did that with 17/18 year old Rooney quite a lot if i remember right.

Hope he starts personally. Kid has given us the lift we so desperately needed and the fans will be excited seeing him at OT as well.

I'd go with the same team. Internationals will be done for a while too, so hopefully we can settle from here on. Talk of dropping RVP for Hernandez is also not wise I think. Saints are aggressive pressers, and as many players who are adept at keeping the ball as possible are required. The likes of Cleverley, RVP and Nani are players who could possibly be switched but I hope are not.

This will be a tough bastard of a game. Not saying much when you see we've already lost three games already. If Moyes gets a run now, confidence will grow and he can start to mould the team as we wants it. Please God, we'll get a win.

Why wouldn't you start Januzaj if he's clearly playing better than any of our other options? If you're good enough, you're old enough. He hardly appears fazed either so I don't see the problem.

Very true. Also, for an 18 year old, he seems to be very head strong.

One of the many positives about him on Saturday was the fact that his head didn't drop after the yellow card, and the point that instead of celebrating his first goal, he instantly picked the ball out of the net. At such a young age, you'd forgive him for getting a little carried away.

I'd not worry about his age personally, seems very composed, when you are ready, you're ready... and he is ready.

You don't drop form players. I know it's only one game, but he is currently in better form (for the 2 goals alone) than most of our squad right now..

International football can feck off.

Also, should keep Adnan in the team as he'll be well rested by then.

Adnan Solo will save the day.

Chewie is out injured for seven weeks unfortunately.

would have thought it'd be ideal to start Janujaz for the Southampton game.

He's had a great start, and it'll give the crowd a lift.

Don't think he's in an U21 squads, so will be fresh

Problem with this is Januzaj will have had two weeks off and will be rested, so no excuse not to play him, over players who will have a ready made excuse of being with their international teams for two weeks. It's the best excuse for them to say they are knackered.

Yep, I hope he starts. He won't play football for the next 2 weeks, while our other players will. It would be nice for him to get another start after that performance.

This will be a tough test, they passed straight through Swansea at times last week and Lallana was a right handful, can't afford any defensive cock ups.
We looked a lot better 2nd half in our game and positive signs we're going in the right direction, my only concern was the forward line again looked a bit devoid of ideas, Adnan aside we struggled to make in roads and if we don't crank it up a notch then Southampton could roll us over.
Agree with the majority that the Janujaz should start, sometimes youth players benefit from coming into the game later on but this kid has no fear and he's fit and in form, he should be starting.

Important game this. Southampton are well organised and playing good stuff at the moment. We, on the other hand, are not at our best (our little Albanian/Belgian/Kosovan/Serb/Turk aside). We need to be ruthless in attack and for the love of god lets not concede and especially not an early goal and give them a chance to bring everyone back stifle our attack.

Feck off! It's like calling a Palestinian who has born in Belgium 'a Palestinian/Belgian/Israeli'

Well apparently his mother is of Serbian descent. So It's like calling a Palestinian, who has an Israeli mother but was born in Belgium a 'Palestinian/Belgian/Israeli', which while strange would be acceptable. So I stand by what I said.

The extent of her descent is that Kosovo used to be part of Serbia. Considering they, and Albanians, really hate Serbians in general, I think Januzaj would probably feel insulted if somebody considered him part Serbian. He's Kosovo, Albanian or Belgian. That's it.

RvP
Januzaj - Rooney - Nani
Carrick - Cleverley
Evra - Vidic - Evans/Jones/Smalling - Rafael

Fair enough. I was simply going from the fact that he qualifies to play for Serbia and Turkey through his mother.

Usually you are allowed a slip up at home to a 'weaker' team, we did that against West Brom, sometimes you are able to get away with two but very rarely. So it's such an important game and one that if we want to make a challenge, we need to be winning. I think and hope we will see something like this.

-De Gea-
-Rafael- Rio- -Smalling- -Evra-
-Carrick- -Anderson-
-Nani- -Rooney- -Welbeck-
-RVP-
Cleverley obviously has a shout to be in over Anderson and rightly so but I think after the international break and with a game a few days later, I think it's a chance to use the squad. With Januzaj, I think it's important not to pile pressure on him and throw him in hoping he does something for us again. Would like to see him start though.
Kagawa and Rooney is very 50/50, I think one will start on the weekend, the other will start in Europe.

We need Cleverley in CM along with Carrick for this. Anderson is unreliable and given Southampton's pressing game, his f**k ups might cost us. Better to start Anderson vs Sociedad home and Norwich home (league cup) and Cleverley vs Southampton and next league game vs Stoke. Hodgson might not use Cleverley for 180 min in international break, so he should be OK.

God, we look se short in CM with Fellaini's injury. Hopefully we can get through to January without any further injuries to anyone in CM, get Fletcher up and running by December and buy someone good in Jan.

Really hope Hodgson plays Gerrard, Lampard and Wilshere again. I moaned about it (Gerrard and Lampard mainly) in the last international break but I'll be over the moon if he goes with it again for both England games coming up, and gives Cleverley and Carrick a nice little break. Particularly Carrick. I care far more about how United does in our coming games and he could do with a rest.
Id love to have them both fresh and rested for this game against Southampton.

Agree with what a lot of you guys are saying in that we can't drop Adnan as form must be rewarded, I'd go with something like this... (Trying to rest some of the International players) and knowing we have quite a few games after this in a fairly short spell.... (Again assuming Fellaini is out due to injury)

DDG
Rafael Ferdinand Jones Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Nani Rooney Januzaj
Hernandez

I'd like Moyes to start Januzaj again, but due to Southampton's strong pressing game the rest of the team might have to be more balanced. It might mean Valencia starts on the right.

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Rooney Januzaj
van Persie

I'd like Hernandez to get a start, but Moyes will probably keep picking van Persie. Might be an ideal time to play Ferdinand and Vidic after a rest, though it could just be one of them.

I'm surprised at the amount of people picking Rio for this. He's been a shadow of himself, a liability in some respects and this game won't exactly be easy for us at the back.

I'd bring him back in one of the easier upcoming fixtures.

I think he started the season well, it wasn't until he'd been picked for too many games in a row that he started to faulter, IMO anyway. He's not played for a bit now and he'll have another week and a half off before this game.

I would prefer a Evans-Jones combo in defense. Considering how good Southampton can be at pressing, we need defenders who can pass well. Evans is a must IMO for this game. Vidic-Rio combo would be a suicide considering that both struggle nowadays to pass well.

Suppose Vidic needs to play himself into some form, Rio has been getting much criticism (rightly so) but Vidic has been poor too.

Can't agree with that. Vidic had a stinker against Sunderland (fortunately offset by Jones having a good one), but other than that he's looked good this season. You don't drop a top quality player and hub of the side like Vidic for a one-off bad game. From what I've seen in the matches next to Ferdinand it really has been a case of Ferdinand making the mistakes and Vidic playing well.

Yeah, awful vs Sunderland and poor vs City IMO. Plus I don't think he is great on the ball which is starting to annoy me and could be particulalry important in this game.
