Surprisingly has the best pass successful percentage out of all the midfielders today. Carrick is 82% and Fellaini is at 85%. Both of Saints midfielders are in their 70's.

Not to mention 2 cleans tackles. But he is still not being sharp enough in his time on the ball, dallying too much.

Still I have not lost hope that he can play the role.

At the moment every time the ball goes into him it's hard not to be a bit worried.
He's not even doing the things he's meant to be great at, ie using his physical power and height to monster teams.

Against teams like Southampton he might not be too effective. Stoke up next though, maybe that'll be more like it.

Him and Carrick seem to have different ideas of how to contest the midfield, but at least Fellaini's version doesn't involve vacating it completely and behaving like a coward.

He can't vacate it because he's so slow and lethargic.

Absolutely shocking. I'd move Jones forward and bring Smalling on, as Fellaini is a walking liability.

His passing lacks any semblance of ambition, which probably explains it.

Pretty sure I said before that he doesn't even add steel in midfield. He's a dirty player who fouls a lot, isn't very good technically and doesn't close down a lot or tackle the opposition a lot. I thought after his first game I underrated him a bit, but it was against crystal palace in a pretty relaxed game.
Could turn out to be our worst piece of business ever.

He always comes out with really good passing stats because he is a very safe passer.

Saints are comfortable in possession throughout the team though.

A lot of Fellaini's passes only made it to team mates in situations where they had no hope of keeping the ball. He also played safe balls a number of times when he could have put Janujaz in behind.

It's frustrating. He's out pressing Southampton to win the ball back while Carrick cowers away behind our centrebacks like a girl...yet when in possession Carrick becomes composed and Fellaini turns into a confused, panicky wimp.

When are we going to stop using pass accuracy stats to measure a player's worth? Haven't the likes of Mikel, Garcia, Medel etc. taught us anything? It's such a silly stat without any context.

I thought he started poorly and looked nervous but he seemed to get better as the game went on. That or I was watching a completely different game

A lot of is true. But seriously there's been some overreaction to his performance so far.

Seems like people have made up their minds on him so early.

That's just ignorantly wrong though. He rarely ever looked good as a no10 at Everton and had pretty much 2 solid good years as a midfielder.

He needs to up his game from that first half though. I can't remember a single non hospital pass.
His best season apparently was last season, and he was basically always a #10. It always seemed blatantly obvious to me he's not cut out for our style. Whenever I've seen him in centre mid he hasn't impressed me. I don't watch Everton all the time obviously but he just isn't good enough on the ball and isn't mobile enough there. Darren Gibson went to Everton and looked like their best central midfielder right away. It says a lot in the difference required to be a key player for united and Everton. I imagine that Martinez couldn't believe his luck when hew offered £27.5 million for him.

He looks so out of place its embarrassing . Genuinely looks like a fan that won a ticket to play in the first team, at times.

And for a 'defensive midfielder', he hasn't got a clue how to tackle.

It's like he's pulling his punches, timid and shy for a player that should be dominating in the middle. He doesn't need to even be that great in possession or passing, just at the very least be tough to beat and manhandle players. Right now he's pretty poor in all areas.

He is fecking shite. He can't even 'do a job' like people were claiming.

Shocking today, but it's nothing less than I expected. He was never all that and I never wanted us to sign him in the first place. Woodward better pull his finger out of his arse in January.

I'm actually already starting to hate him.

Pete and all the other ABU's were spot on. Shit player. Shit signing.

He doesn't look like a £17M signing so far, but I will give him this season before saying he's a flop. Not the best start though..

He shouldn't have been taken off. No matter what you think of him, he was a far better option than Giggs or Jones in CM.

£27.5 million you mean.

The problem wasn't taking him off the problem was that we had to rely on him in the first place because we didn't sign anyone better. He was 5 or 6 out of 10 today, sadly those who replaced him were even worse.

Will rival Djemba Djemba and Bebe for the worst signing ever.

Sadly at this rate I can't disagree. Not because Fellaini isn't obviously better than those two players but because for the money we spent on Fellaini we could've got a proper, top class number 8. Monaco, after all, signed Moutinho for £20 million in the summer.

As poor as he was, I'd have still fecking kept him in midfield ahead of Giggs and Jones.

Yeah, we could have done with him in there at the end. We were much more comfortable when he was in the middle. Certainly had twice the game that Rooney had. But somehow he's the scapegoat.

You want to have faith in Moyes but he's spent £30 million on this guy. Almost as bizarre as the Carroll transfer fee tbh.
