Are people fecking oblivious to the fact that we've a CL game on Tuesday or something?

I would worry for Fellaini if Moyes feels he must save him for tuesday. He's not played for a few weeks and surely could play two games in three days.

And yet Van Persie and Rooney both start...

There's no hiding the fact that Fellaini was a panic buy, and much as many of us including me have tried to convince ourselves otherwise since, he just doesn't improve us enough to justify the outlay.

 One of the worst bits of transfer business we've ever done. At least when we splashed the cash on berbatov and veron, they were really talented, just didn't fit in. This guy is shite and doesn't fit in (as I said long before we signed him). Jones and cleverley in midfield is probably the best we can put out when Carrick is out, which says it all about fellaini. Moyes seems to be accepting that he massively overrated him too.

Of course they do, they're our most important players, they'll always start. I'm not trying to put Fellaini in their bracket, merely saying that he might be kept fresh for Tuesday's game.

He's been left out of the last few games cause he's been terrible for us and we started winning. Why would he be kept fresh for Tuesday, when Rafael, Vidic, Evans, evra, de gea, januzaj, Rooney, van Persie and cleverley are all playing? Actually, you can include jones in there too as he's impressed far more in midfield then fellaini has. He might well play on Tuesday, but he's being rotated in to rest others in that game, because he's fallen to 4th choice now, rightfully. Our lineup today is basically as good as it gets with Carrick out, fellaini just isn't close to our best 11.

Yes, Moyes accepts he's overrated NOW after managing him for years and then signing him. I don't think you understand the idea of stepping up to playing for a big club with a different playing style than the last one. Fellaini may turn out to be a terrible buy, but judging him in the first few months when he has hardly played and is probably adjusting to the team is silly

He lacks game time rather than being tired...

What's the sodding point of spunking 27 million on a centre midfielder who you don't trust over Phil Jones - against what should be PL cannon fodder; especially with carrick out. Granted, Jones has been better in cm recently than he has been in the past, but clearly there are misgivings over the signing by the very people who made it. I want to give him time, at least a year of semi-regular football to make a judgement, but this hardly instils confidence. Could turn out to be a real blunder

He needs games, but Moyes will have his reasons. I am far from writing off Fellaini at this stage

I really want to see him get some games as an outright DM (ie alongside Cleverley or Anderson) so it's weird to see him not playing when Carrick is absent.

But then on the other hand Phil Jones is the first name on the teamsheet (this isn't really a joke..) so what ya gonna do?

Madness isn't it? You'd swear he was the only player we've ever bought who struggled a bit in their first season and wasn't automatically a first choice player for us.

That's the sensible thing to do.

New player in struggling n the first season shocker. I remember when Yaya Toure struggled in his first season.

Can you name a single one who was such a high price signing, coming into an area where we are so weak and still doesn't get a game when our best player in the position is injured?

I'm not writing him off after seeing him for united. I wrote him off long before he joined us because it was painfully obvious to me that he'd never fit in to our style and just wasn't suited to us when he was at Everton.
He might have stood out at Everton because of the style moyes played, and he thought he could get to another level at united, but now that he's here, moyes might see in training how far behind fellaini is technique wise to the rest of them, and since he's not a key player here like at Everton, he just doesn't fit in.

There's a big difference between keeping faith in players like kagawa after a touh first season, because he's a very talented player who played in a team who had much better movement then us and played quicker football. Naturally it would take time to adjust. Fellaini is just not talented and doesn't fit in with the rest.

Bebe.

Does it matter anyway? That's just a pointless question.

get a grip you drama queen. every single sentence you wrote is either wrong or just plain fecking stupid. im sure youd be one of the fans booing last weekend too, if you cant allow a player to have 5 games for the club before turning on them. i hate idiots like you

A quarter of the price for a wide player, a position we had plenty of options in and was never expected to go into the first team. Good pick.

You're acting like there's no reason people should ask questions about his omission because things like this happen all the time. If the best comparison you can give is Bebe then It's obvious this is a fairly unique occurrence at Utd.

Bebe was obviously a joke answer, fecking hell.

I think it's fine to ask questions, it's the idea of completely writing him off as a failure, saying he was a bad signing, bemoaning the price, whatever, that's what's completely idiotic, just because he's not picked for this game? So What, it happens. He's had an underwhelming start here and also, Jones and Cleverley were very good together in one of our best performances of the season midweek, so it makes sense to me anyway.

People will look for any way to dismiss him, I think he'll go on to be a good player for us, not a great one, and he won't justify his fee (feck all players in the current transfer climate will), but in time, he'll be a good player, the Caf however don't know the meaning of the word patience.

What part exactly is wrong? Fellaini has always been one of my least favourite players, united buying him doesn't suddenly make him a saint or some talented player. He's not very good, simple as. Me not liking fellaini makes me one of the fans who were booing. feck off. I never turned on him, I just never liked him and was constantly saying I hope we don't get him, that I'd rather get nobody because I thought he'd be a huge waste of money and wouldn't fit in at all. I even said he isn't any better then cleverley in a midfield 2 and people laughed, but now it's accepted on here that fellaini is 3rd or 4th choice. I don't need to see him play for united to form an opinion on him, he's been in the premier league since like 2008.

Moyes should never have signed to begin with.

Plenty of time for Fellaini to change that opinion. We all know we needed someone good enough to step in and replace Carrick, so you'd expect him to be capable of playing today and in midweek. We shouldn't feel like our midfield is still an issue after such a big signing.

Sadly it still is and besides I don't consider Fellaini as a big signing (well he is tbh when it comes to the fee but not as much when it comes to football).

If anything he adds to our squad depth. I'm pretty sure Moyes will be able to get the best out of him but he needs time to bed in and also overcome his injury.

Yep he has, not the first time he's played well this season.

To be fair, he is bound to improve and fit into the team better as the season goes on. He isn't as good as we'd want him to be but he's definitely better than he has shown for us up to now. If he can fit into the team properly and regain his best Everton form he'll be a better option than Cleverley at least.

Looks ok when he came on. Certainly the best of our 3 subs. and nice to see that bit of passion at the end too.

Did well, but today wasn't a true test to be fair.

The best thing he did for me was how he backed up Adnan. Was fantastic to see.

Great game and the way he handled situation after Richter's stomp on Januzaj's leg was 100% in United team spirit.

Good lad. Will be definitely useful. He knows how to create chaos in opponent's box.
