de Gea
Jones Vidic Evans Evra
Fellaini Giggs
Nani Rooney Januzaj
Chicharito
No fecking about, three points.

Oh ffs, I knew it didn't look right. It was a brilliant line up in my head. I'll keep them there in future.

It could work, never say never. Just risky, it looks unbalanced to me. Anderson and Kagawa in cm? I know fellaini is there (or Carrick) but those two aren't very good defensively imo.

It was aimed at the other guy that was going on like some sort of ITK by listing the travelling squad before even the media and stating that he's just awaiting confirmation. Then you come in shortly after and prove him completely wrong.

I don't see why people see the need to pretend they know these things when they're going to be proven wrong shortly after.

----------de Gea------------
Jones---Rio---Smalling---- Fabio
Nani-Anderson-Fellaini-Young
---------Kagawa------------
-------Chicharito-----------

maybe a risky option

----------de Gea------------
Smalling---Rio---Vidic----- Evra
Nani---Jones-Fellaini-Young/Kagawa
---------Rooney------------
-------Chicharito-----------

probably more likely - much harder to predict a Moyes team

I think you'll find the official travelling squad hasn't actually been released anyhow, for whatever reason, I do not know. The only difference in what I said to what Moyes has said is the lack of Carrick/Welbeck. If they magically appear in Spain tomorrow night then I'll hold my hands up. Moyes had also said they were both major doubts for this game anyway, and surely if they were fit and had travelled he would have said so this afternoon. Only Rafael and Evans were mentioned by name.

Just to be clear, I am not pretending about anything. I am not in the know and probably never will be. Rather a member of my family departed Manchester airport today (not with the team), hence the 'led to believe', that is all.

That means, fabio on the right and jones in midfield.

I really hope we're not going to start either Jones or Smalling at right-back. I already feel sorry for our right-winger, be it Valencia or Nani, as he won't get any sufficient support all night. I would prefer something like this:

De Gea
Fabio - Vidic - Jones - Evra
Cleverley - Fellaini
Valencia - Kagawa - Nani
Rooney

Give RVP & Januzaj a break. I know it's harsh on Hernandez, but there is yet another chance to see what Kagawa can do behind a striker. We need a strong CM against this lot away from home IMO. Regardless I expect us to start with Smalling at RB, Ferdinand & Vidic at CB and Giggs/Hernandez to start. I admit I'm not exactly confident at the moment.

I'd agree with that. This will be an inevitable fast-pace encounter which would suit someone like Kagawa, particularly in his native no.10 role.

Fair enough about Kagawa but I'd rest Rooney - Hernandez has to play for me.....scores in consecutive games then doesn't play - this is the perfect opportunity to give him the game time he is openly asking for - if needs be Moyes should play Rooney left

we will lose Hernandez if we don't give him the opportunities he deserves

I seriously doubt Moyes will not play Rooney though...Kagawa will probably end up left if he plays

FWIW I think the front four will be Valencia, Rooney, Kagawa & Hernandez, with Giggs supporting Fellaini in CM. I just fear we will have issues in CM again, Cleverley, Fellaini & Kagawa looks a bit more balanced.

Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane on ITV tonight, I'll not be tuning in a minute before 7:45 then.

To be fair to Giggsy he was quality in the return fixture.

I doubt we will rest both Rooney and RVP
Hernandez should start
Valencia has started showing some form recently and should start, especially if Fabio plays at RB.
Kagawa would do well in this sort of game I would think.

Thus looking at Hernandez, Rooney, Kagawa and Valencia

For midfield Fellaini should start and either jones or Anderson. I reckon Anderson as we may want to save jones to come on later in defence somewhere.

Why the feck are MON and Keane doing the punditry. Jesus Christ. I bet they spend half the time talking about the Ireland job, too.

OK, I thought you were talking to me.

easyjet flight from Moscow was diverted to Copenhagen on it's way to Manchester, apparently due to unruly CSKA supporters that had to be dumped in Denmark

DDG
Fabio Jones Vidic Evra
Fellaini
Cleverley Rooney
Nani ........... Kagawa
Hernandez

I don't like Cleverley sitting further back as others do, hes better further up the field, not in a directly attacking sense but in a supportive/creative role.

Why does that mean fabio on the right? If no rafael it will be smalling or jones.

Won't play fabio in difficult euro away game

I think Valencia has to start. From the first game, you can see it's clear that their left back isn't too bothered about defending. Valencia being as direct as he is, is the ideal man to exploit that, as he's always going to be in the right place at the right time to exploit it, where as our other wingers are more likely to roam. I'd put him on the right, Nani on the left and either Kagawa or Rooney behind Hernandez

Good point. Hernandez up front, Valencia to the right, Rooney just off Hernandez, and Nani in from the left.
Cleverley and Giggs/Jones behind them, or Anderson too.

I doubt Rio hasa traveled without starting and I don't think we'll rest both Rooney and RvP.

De Gea

Smalling
Rio
Jones
Evra

Valencia
Cleverley
Fellaini
Young

Rooney
Hernandez

Yeah, that has nothing to do with this thread.

If Ando doesn't start this game where Moyes will utilise his squad, i'm afraid he's really off in January

I wouldn't mind of he was offloaded in January if it meant that we'd bring in a CM that would improve our starting 11. I've written off Anderson a long time ago, as both a starter and a squad player. He's just not good enough in my honest opinion.
