I'd like to see either Zaha or Lingard get a chance with Januzaj on the other side
Kagawa behind either Hernandez or Welbeck
Also like to see Fletcher again but not sure if he's ready for another game so soon

Zaha has to play in my opinion. Even if it's just to make it up to him for yesterday.

We'll win this (because it is away). Only to then lose at home and get eleminated from them.

I don't care that much about this competition but it is the only chance to get a trophy this year, so I hope we win. After two defeats in a row we need our confidence to turn back before the tough games on the league so a win is most welcome.

You might laugh but this could end up being important.

To be honest I would rather finish 6th rather than 5th. feck the EL it's unwanted distraction. having said that, this cup is our only realistic chance of winning something. We also need to get back winning and this is a perfect opportunity for a confidence boost.

Well in 2014/15, winning the Europa League will come with Champions league football so I'd say teams will try a lot harder to win it IMO, it might get some prestige to it as well.

Make your mind up! Tbh winning this comp is not going to paper over the cracks though is it and defo wouldn't be compensation for finishing 7th:(

Hellboy, they might think it's a walk in the park and treat it like the Wigan final last year! I would dread playing them in the final actually, because they'll see it as a game they'll want to raise theirs through the roof for for a chance to embarrass us.I accept there are going to be planty more lows this season, but I shouldn't be dreading a cup final! ...Is is August yet?

How is it we have 2 games in 3 days, and that included the late Sunday kick off? What the feck is that about?

DDG
Smalling Evans Vidic Evra
Carrick Giggs
Zaha Lingard Januzaj
Welbeck

I'd fecking love it if Zaha and Lingard started this game - it's not like they can be any worse.

Switch Januzaj and Lingard and then that's potential sex worthy.

Yeah that could easily work too. Lingard had mainly been playing as #10 for Birmingham and I saw him there for the England U21's when they destroyed San Marino, but he did brilliantly on the left in our pre season and it would be nice to see Januzaj in the middle.

I think Lingard has more pace, so would prefer him to be in the position to do the running. Plus he can cut in nicely and use is right foot, and yeah Januzaj is our future in that position so would like to see that. That is potentially our future front 4 and a very exciting front 4 too.

Of all the games we have left, this is the one I'll be least pissed off with losing. There are more important games coming up.

If there's one thing this slump has done it's certainly added a bit of spice to every game, unwanted spice but still; every games is like a cup final these days.

You would need to win the final to secure that! Runners up dont get it.

Assuming the final is against City the runner up will get a Europa League spot as City will most likely finish in the top four.

That only applies in the FA cup not league cup. If you remember when you faced Wigan in the final in 2006 Wigan never got it despite you being 2nd in thew league.

does it matter if City win the title?...rather than just finish in the top 4 I mean.
League Cup runners up never get a European place, ever, ever, it doesn't matter if the League Cup winners win the League, CL, Europa League, Fa Cup, Superbowl, Grand National, the League Cup runners up still don't get into Europe. It goes to the team finishing 6th/7th. Which may or may not be us.

No, as Leroy says the runners up never get a European spot, unlike the FA cup where they do if the winner is already there.

I hope we go with Welbeck leading the line and then being supported by either Kagawa or Januzaj in the #10. The midfield just isn't strong enough to support 2 up top, especially when one of them is Hernandez.

Most of the team picks itself it would seem but I'd like to see:

De Gea
Valencia Smalling Evans Evra
Carrick Giggs
Zaha -- Kagawa -- Januzaj
Welbeck

Praying Zaha gets a run.

If he doesn't get a game in the cup when we only have one other winger fit and that winger is horribly out of form then I don't know when he ever will. May as well loan him out if that's the case.

But Valencia must start.... because... that's why.

Let's be honest he won't.

Valencia was taken off at 60 to preserve him for tonight, and Januzaj didn't start on sunday because of tonight. It will be 4-4-2 with Rooney/welbeck and Carrick/Giggs/Cleverley.
