Must be on the verge of a "canee take the strain cap'n" just from a certain player starting a game. Valencia and Rafael are the dynamic duo, calm down.

I have to agree with that. He certainly had us on the back foot when Palace played us, think with his pace, he would do it again to an opposing team at home

Are we really at the point where a mediocre talent (talent, not even a mediocre player) is something to get excited about?
He is three and a half years older that Januzaj, he should never be a player that is even on the bench for a team like ours.
 
Kagawa behind Welbeck...on paper it seems quite tasty given both of their technical ability.

I have to admit, I really think it's time to grow some balls and put some faith in the younger players.

They're hungry, talented and fearless, completely the opposite of the likes of Valencia. Throw Zaha on and tell him to make a complete nuisance of himself, take players on, whip the ball in, shoot on sight. Get a bit of fire back in the team.

Won't happen but I'd love to see Lingard and Zaha wide with Adnan behind Welbeck. Just seems so youthful and fresh and they'd probably play with a lot less fear than some of the seniors have been lately.
 
My disappointment at Moyes tactical conservatism aside it should be interesting to see what the results of the extra trainings sessions turn out to be. Hopefully it is improved pressing and crossing accuracy as opposed to widespread fatigue at the hour mark.

Well, not that excited by their technical ability. It's good, but nothing that special that make me excited, not that kind of technical ability. Hope they will be effective though, it's the best combination with Rooney and RVP out. Hope they are positive from the start and move to make trouble for Swansea.

Mediocre is your opinion of him not mine, and players develop at different rates. It's rare for players Januzaj's age to have such an impact on the first team, he's the exception rather than the rule.


Ever since preseason I was excited about Lingard possibly playing a part this season. Now he's on the bench for a league game it's definitely something to look forward to. His link-up play is really good and he's offers something different to the 'spread the ball wide and cross it early' ethos we seem to be adhering rigidly to at the moment. So yeah, I do feel excited about him getting some minutes today.

Can't wait to see if he does.

With Januzaj drifting inside too, hopefully the passing through the centre of the pitch will be a bit better than it has.

Pretty good line-up, I'm glad to see Kagawa playing behind the striker, let's hope he has a big game, he could use one.

So, Januzaj is now your measure stick for talent development? The boy is a special talent. Thats like me as Dortmund supporter dismissing every potential talent at the age of 20 because Götze became a starter at a very young age. Would be a shame, because we would have missed out on several top class players, who simply had a later break.
 
Nice interview from Rafael on MUTV. Didn't really say anything ground breaking but just how much he learnt from pro's already there and how he now helps younger players

Given the fact Welbeck's in much better form and has already shown he can score against Swansea this season, it's not exactly a poor decision to play him.

He doesn't to drop deep, he needs a partner, either Kagawa or Welbeck to drop deep.
 
I thought Fletcher has been pretty good since coming back. Definitely a bit more inventive with his passing than Cleverley.

I don't disagree and have no problem with Welbeck's selection, it's just an observation. Frankly I'd have Welbeck and Hernandez started ahead of Valencia and play a front 3 of Januzaj, Hernandez and Welbeck.

True but he's also regressed from last season where he was much better in his link up play. A lot of heavy touches from him and didn't get his head up quickly enough when support did arrive.
