Would love to see:

----------------- De Gea
Rafael Smalling Jones Fabio
---------- Carrick Fletcher
Zaha -------- Kagawa - Januzaj
--------------- Hernandez

Our midfield options are so fecking uninspiring.

Don't know if this will work tbh, Sunderland will rip our right hand side apart, plus, playing De Gea near the corner flag isn't a great idea either.

-----------------Cavani------------------

--Reus --------------------------Mata----

--- Marchisio------Vidal-------Cabaye-----

---Coentrao---Dante---- Astori --- Coleman

-------------------Mannone---------------

I know we are probably going to do a West Ham in the final... but if we do get there I'm going to be so fecking excited about ending City's Quadruple hopes. Even though I know we are going to lose. Badly.

Sunderland shouldn't be riping anything apart. They're fecking shit. Plus, if Zaha and Rafael play as they should their left hand side would be too busy going backwards (much like ours was when Zaha tore us a new one in the cup).

Would be surprised if Rooney started given the nature of the injury. No point aggravating it in a League Cup game. Hopefully he's fit enough to make the bench though so he can get some minutes under his belt before the Cardiff game in a week.

This game is massive for us Carl. Might only be the league cup but a trip to Wembley could be just what the doctor ordered.

Not worth Rooney being out for another month though in my opinion. We'd probably get battered at Wembley by City anyway.

Hernandez

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Cleverley, Giggs, Valencia, Januzaj, Welbeck
I believe that given our current form, we should still look to play a strong side that can build some momentum, while maintaining continuity in the side. With that in mind I think there should be just a few tweaks in the side that played Chelsea, some of enforced of course, such as Vidic and Evra who could miss out according to Physioroom.

I don't agree with the notion of dismissing this game as a non-entity, because we would face City in the final, as some have suggested. In a Wembley cup final game anything can happen, as shown last season by Wigan and come the end of February hopefully we'll have van Persie and Rooney fit and firing with Mata well bedded into the team.

Every game is a must win at the moment, but losing this game is more needless pressure on our hands and realistically our last chance of silverware gone, so I hope we name a well-balanced strong team with players in their favoured position and players like Valencia not offered the liberty of starting every game despite playing poor. Unfortunately Buttner and Young would be enforced with Evra's injury and Januzaj's heavy gametime lately.

It is really a sad affair when Manchester United hoping to lose to Sunderland in order to avoid a spanking by City. It really is sad....

Where is our pride? Where is our passion? How can we demand confidence and passion from the player when ourselves have fallen to this state of mess....

Not any more. The chosen Juan will propel us to cup glory.

They've got a better recent record v City than we have, they would have more chance of winning the final.

you actually got a point there

anyway
----------------de gea-------------------
rafael------jones------evans-----buttner
valencia----carrick----fletcher----young
------------------kagawa-------------
-----------------hernandez------------

welbeck and januzaj on the bench should we need an attacking substitution.

I'd rather have the chance of stopping City winning a trophy than having no chance, even if that means we get well beaten in the final.

There's near enough a week between this game and the next, so full strength and go for it. Same team as the last couple of games, Kagawa in for Young and play in the centre with Januzaj to the left, Jones dropping to CB over Vidic and Fletcher coming into midfield (or Cleverley). Hernandez may also start over Welbeck.
