Urawa Reds vs Manchester United

Van Der Sar - Is going to be an excellent player for us this season. Cool, calm and assured, just what we´ve needed in recent years. Not much to do but did it well.

Gary Neville - Crossing was poor but got forward often enough and defensively OK, bit worried by how often the opposition get in behind him with diaganal long balls though. 6.

Pique - Less lumbering than previous first team performances, which was good, some great interventions and commanding in the air. 7.

Silvestre - Needs to cut out the long cross field balls but defensively good. Still has a bulbus head. 7.

Richardson - Abysmal in the first half, terrible, but second half he got better and his touch and passing improved. Defensively quite impressive, actually. 6.

Smith - Started as our best player, I thought, knocking it sharply about midfield, getting everywhere and making the challenges, positionally improved from the last few games though Urawa had a chance on the egde of our box on the break which I think he should have been covering, but was 5 yards or so out of position to the right. Waned as the game went on though.6.5

Fletcher - Hardly in the game, disapointing. 5.

Scholes - Some neat passes but not as sharp as he can be, presumably due to fitness. 6.

Rooney - Decent first half but exploded into life second half in what I now really think is his best position. Great touch, movement and his finishing has come on alot too. Strikers finish for the first, which was great, second goal, fecking fantastic, technically one of the best goals ive seen. Should play him there as often as possible IMO. 8.

Saha - Ineffective. Fair enough the service was poor but physically he had no presence and the timing of his runs was off. I think we should move him on and play Rooney uprotn when Ruuds out. 5.

Rossi - Good start but got sloppy as the half went on. Decent close control though. 6.

SUBS

Giggs - Hardly noticed him!. 5.

Miller - Quite good actually, by his ankle high standards anyway! :nervous: Some neat touches and runs from midfield, nice ball through towards the end of the game too. 6.

Dong - God awful! Thank god hes just a commercial buy, presumably anyway, because I forgot he was on the pitch completely, and when he got the ball he lost it!. 3!

Phil Neville - n/a

Ronaldo - Started well, some nice touches and electric runs at the defence, decent shto on goal but I think got carried away with the crowds enthusiasm for his tricks and flicks, tried them all too often when a better ball was on. 6.

Nah, they won the 7s convincingly thrashing PSV 3-0 in the final. They also beat Celtic 2-1 in the quarters, a HK side 4-0 in the semis and held United to a goalless draw in the group stage.

This isn't 7s though so it'll be interesting to see whether their pace, passing and organisation translate well to a full match.

My mistake. I could have sworn tnat the Dutch team won, but you are the man on the spot so thanks for the correction.
