Yeah I have noticed that aswell, even when they made a break down the left it was him that was one of the only players back defending.

Agree! Very naturally fitted into the midfield today and his positions sense is good. Didn't do anything wrong and disciplined in that role. Thought he did better in the second half than the first half today.
I say give him more chances playing in midfield, he did well for the previous friendly matches as well.

you know, i think Silvestre got a better understanding with VDS than Howard.

Phizza throws down a defender and pushes the keeper 3 times after a raid down the flank. Yellow card.

Get in.

He's great is our Phil :smirk:

Someone needs to kick their keeper in the head, after every tackle by a United player he starts pushing people.

Come on Smitty.

Is that a new tattoo on Rooney near the neck area or just some strings stuck on his skin?

Guess who stopped running and threw his arms in the hair, immediately letting them come to rest on his hips, looking for a whistle?

Midseason form.

Who was it?

Ratings please.....
Gary Neville's 'tache gets an 11.

His brother gets a 12 for being called Philip.

The rest get 13 because it's the preseason and nobody really cares.

TJ Hooker gets a 14 because of Shatner's Member's Only jacket and some white kid described the suspects of a crime as "2 brothers." I'm not sure how he knew they were family, but I'm pretty sure how he figured out they were black. The 80s ruled.

Commentator mentioned Ronaldo was out getting treatment on his right knee towards the end of the game.

Well one thing this match does confirm.

Richter is our lucky match thread starting charm

Anyone with doubts about Smith as the holding midfielder ought to watch this game. Early days yet but he's looked good & comfortable so far in this role in pre-season.

smith looked very good in midfield me thinks. very good indeed. vds has the worst haircut ever, and rooney's neck seemed to be giving birth or something. all i all - bring on the new season (and the barber)!

Hope so too...he looked to have improved further this preseason. Bigger & stronger as well.
