Stoke City F.C. vs. Manchester United F.C.

No Adnan and Rafael probably because of Stoke's physicality. Need big men for set pieces... Not that I expect Young to do much there.
Stoke XI: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters; Odemwingie, Whelan, Adam, Arnautovic, Walters; Crouch

Whelan and Adam in CM.

Finally a CM we can dominate?
Don't be silly.

The only problem I've is with Rafael on the bench, in fairness Rafa hasn't been very good this season. Adnan deserves a rest, the bloke has been our best attacking player in absence of RVP and Rooney.

Good team. I'd have liked to see Rafael, as he's not only our best right back, he's our only right back.

Good side though. Young essentially picked himself after his last game. Would have been harsh to drop him.

RVP, Rooney and Mata together. Boner.
Pretty much this.

Looks a good side to me.

Interesting to see Carrick and Cleverley who are good in possession linking with Rooney, Mata and RVP.

Like others have said you can't really drop Young after Cardiff and Valencia is not in the starting eleven.

Disappointed there's no Januzaj but no doubt he'd get sawn in half by Stoke's thugs.

De Gea

Jones ---- Smalling ---- Evans ---- Evra

Carrick - Cleverley

Mata --- Rooney --- Young

van Persie

Decent. Young deserves his start, but I'm not a fan of this "Let's play Jones/Smalling at right-back" lark.

I'm not adverse to Young being there today. We've got enough for Stoke to concentrate on for him to have a good game under the radar and unlike Valencia he has had an upturn in performances.

Will be interesting to see who plays where in that team. Hoping we see Mata central but seems like we will play a 4-4-2 with Mata/Young as wingers.

Would be great if Rooney decided to play a deeper role though, will be necessary almost.

Devastated. Cleverley over Fellaini and Fletcher. Feck right off.

Not really fuzzed about Young starting, he deserves it on merit compared to other options.

As much as I sort of understand the decision to play Jones, I just wonder if any other top club would drop their right back for a centre half when playing a side third from bottom? Stoke don't really play that way anymore either, when I've watched them this season they've passed the ball around, it's actually painful to watch because it doesn't really suit the players they have. And Rafael's season has been disrupted by injury, he seemed to be getting back towards his best against Cardiff, so the timing is also quite annoying.

Happy with the rest of the side though, Young deserved to stay in the team at the expense of Valencia.

Only annoyance is with Rafaels omission but that's only as he's in my FF team. Not sure why I agree but im not going to argue Fergie/Moyes are wrong on dropping Rafael for these games.

Is Kagawa injured? Otherwise him not even being in the squad would be a pretty big sign.

lol - I was happy with the midfield and attackers that I missed Rafael not starting. Guess I need to have at least one thing to complain about.

Mata, Rooney and RvP in the same team. Good lord.

He isn't injured as far as we know. He'll be sold in summer IMO. Shame but it looks that Moyes doesn't rate him.

Nice to see a midfield made up of midfield players

Adam - Whelan. Slowest CM in the league?

edit: Parker-Sidwell might take that.

Hard to argue with this team I'd probably preferred Rafael at right back and push Jones in for Cleverley but can't argue as Young deserves his place.

Moyes seems similar to Fergie in that he just wants Jones in the team regardless of where he plays and who he displaces in it. Indicative of how highly he's rated really.

Would have much rather Rafael at Right Back and Jones/Fletcher in Midfield over Cleverley. I expected Young to start and he has kind of earned it, so happy with the rest. Either way this team should be enough to do Stoke by a couple of goals. Also, that bench is probably one of the best any team could hope for...

You can argue that Adnan is much better though and despite Young's good game on Tuesday he usually is very bad.

Jones at full back, Carrick's sudden return to the team, RVP playing twice inside a week, those would be the selections which leave me a a little concerned.

It will be interesting to see how Moyes intends to make that attacking line work, a little more imagination than we've seen previously wouldn't hu8rt.

I also think that Moyes needs to address this issue of Fletcher's absence from the team of late. Going from our best CM and a regular to a mere onlooker warrants a little explanation in my view.

Quite, though Adnan probably deserves a rest and Stoke would only try and kick him off of the pitch. It'd be 10 times worse than Craven Cottage.

I haven't been this excited for a United game in a long time. Hell, I haven't been excited for a United game in a long time!
