Shinji Kagawa

Video shows you why stats can be so misleading. Some glorious chances he has made. Also, look how quick he manipulates the ball. Too bad that's not what is wanted by our coaching staff. Not only from Kagawa but, the rest of the team.

You'd swear our team didn't want him to get any assists when you watch that video:lol:. It's just this season too

Someone show this video to Moyes and his staff and ask them to take a better look at him. They must be blind.

And his crossed were not hopeful punts from long to a crowded box as well. You have to wonder why a talented, two times bundesloga winner like him is overlooked by our manager.

I've never understood why Kagawa has been so misused by Moyes. It's not as though we're Bayern and we're overflowing with talent right now while destroying our opponents for fun.

Klopp and Jesus are in tears.

He's got great close control and can squeeze past defenders in tight spots. That creates space for our strikers, or a chance for Rooney and VP when he draws a foul on the edge of the box. Pity he'll be sold as we haven't really seen what he's capable of doing in a United shirt.

Same reason he's always putting Smalling as a right back, didn't use Nani when healthy, and has completely underused Henandez.

Never got quite that one, we gave him a 5 year contract and have barely played him and will try and flog him in the summer.

He's put in 12 crosses in the PL and 6 in the CL. A teammate has got on the end of 3 of them. The video goes to show that they should have been goals. Someone make the video twice as long and post it to David Moyes

That's the problem. He hasn't made as many crosses as Moyes wants. 18 crosses for 6 months? Pff, Baines did that for a single game.

Well yes and given the chances he's created from the crosses you might wonder why he hasnt tried more. But its not just the crosses, its the creative passes too. Just not enough overall and his shooting has been quite poor compared to what hes shown he can do at Dortmund.

However I'd prefer Kagawa's "not enough" to Young's "not enough" in pretty much every game.

Not surprised at all to see that. Kagawa's passing and crossing is criminally underrated. He makes passes like this consistently for Japan.

Even in his worst season ever he looks infinitiely more threatening than Young and Valencia. Moyes truly is blind.

Kagawa would be an ideal fit for Chelsea if they didn't have Oscar. He is Mourinho's type of player. People claim he lacks a defensive aspect to his game, but he is a very willing runner and I've noticed more and more that he puts himself about and isn't afraid of putting in a tackle. It's such a shame we do not utilise him well enough. It's like we are trying to emulate City or Chelsea in the fact we employ a traditional winger and then someone who drifts infield on the opposite wing, but we lack the quality in midfield to drive such a team. We NEED to put a team of players out there who play one type of football. Moyes needs to see this. It is no good putting Rooney and Mata in a team together when Rooney's choice of ball is out wide thus cutting Mata out of the game. Januzaj - Kagawa - Mata. Try it please Moyes.

I agree and mentioned it before that Mourinho would like him with his willingness to close people down. The other side of it though is that Mourinho seems to favor the more athletic, faster players as well and thats an area like Mata where Kagawa pulls up short.

He'll probably be gone in the summer, having had two seasons at United with managers who didn't use or didn't even know how to use him properly. Such a shame.

I just re-watched highlights of his Norwich hattrick. It's absolutely criminal that we haven't been able to use him more (although he has to take some blame for not seizing the opportunities he's had.) He's ideally suited to the style of football so many of us would like to see.

Kagawa's turn against Sociedad. I don't think any other player in our team could have pulled that move off so effortlessly. Mata is the only decent shout.

I'm sure De Gea does them as well.

The obvious difference would be that Kagawa made some space and moved forward through the center. He didnt pass it to the wings at first opportunity.

Same here, it's like a weird parallel universe. Valencia made a decent cross with his left foot. And Kagawa score a hattrick. Also take a look at the goals. The interplay between Rooney Kagawa and Welbeck was sexy .

That video just shows how poor we've been in front of goal this season.
Yeah complete profligacy really and it's criminal that he doesn't have an assist this season when he has laid on chances like that.

Anyone predicting him to start tonight. Be interesting to see if we go with any out and out wingers. Young isn't going to get much luck out of Sagna so probably be worth putting an inside winger there such as Januzaj or Kagawa.

Given our team it normally would be wise to attack through the middle but I feel Arsenal can be hurt down the wings although we don't quite have the wingers to cause trouble. Hopefully Valencia can cause Gibbs/Monreal some trouble if he starts and Januzaj down the left hand side.

What amuses me is that Kagawa hasn't been playing recently and we are still conceding dumb goals. Perhaps Kagawa's "defensive weaknesses" (erm, also said of Mata) isn't one of the reasons for goals conceded.
Those oft preferred "wide" men, Young and Valencia, are clearly doing a fabulous job both attacking and defending...?

Somewhere in a parallel universe, DM, putting his belief in 'best form of defence is attack', has persisted with Kagawa-Mata-Januzaj until it finally has clicked and teams are now lining up against us defensively, with their midfield instructed to stay back and tight.

Perhaps also that Kagawa and Mata are fundamentally more effective No 10's than Rooney, but that would be an unforgiveable thing to say on this site?

I hope DM realizes that he'd get a lot more respect from the squad simply by rotating RvP and Rooney up top - from RvP and Rooney themselves as well, once we start winning.

Just needs to call them into his office separately, tell each of them that at this point he has to try it, and scouts honor if they're unhappy with performances/results at the end of the season yadda yadda. Also he needs to show them that he's mapped out future fixtures where they'll definitely play/likely won't play and the reasons why. He has to do that prep work. Professionals see you put that work in, they respect it. They're not happy, of course, but they respect it.

The tricky part will be convincing them that he really is doing it for the sake of the club and not to try and make himself look better. Winning helps.

It shows the other players - without him having to say a single word - that he's placed his belief in them. All these subtle things that a born man-manager does without having to think about it.

Mata might be yep probably is, but not Kagawa.

In the PL, yes. Any other league and I think it's pretty even. But it's very risky to play Kagawa there without an aggressive campaign against the refs to give him protection.

It's just my opinion. Then again, I also like Rooney in the striking role because he's done it before and scored loads of goals and because he is less selfish than RVP.

Is he really? As a striker, would you label Rooney less selfish? That is very doubtful imo.

Rooney was absolute rubbish against Fulham. He takes a while to get going after an injury, but that was abysmal. I would love to see a trio of Januzaj, Kagawa and Mata behind RVP and put Rooney as a central midfielder for this match. He can work his socks off, as he usually does, has a little more pace than Carrick/Giggs/Fellaini and offers a genuine goal scoring threat from the middle. I just think that our attacking play will be more dynamic with Kagawa in the midst of it.

I agree and I forgive - should I forgive if I agreed in the first place?
Imo, Rooney's technique and passing is great for a striker and works even as a central midfielder, but as a No 10, then he is too sloppy for me. Kagawa and Mata are better suited to a fast flowing game than Rooney, imo of course.
