Film The Movies I want to see thread

It has that fella from the end of Thor 2 in it. So I guess this'll interlock with the other Marvel's too?

With a completed score courtesy of Jonny Greenwood, it looks like the finishing touches are being put on Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice following a shoot last year, but, unfortunately, we’ve still got awhile to go before we’ll see the film. While we were lucky enough forThe Master to get a bow in early fall, Warner Bros. is putting out his upcoming work onDecember 12th, 2014.

With a cast led by Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin, Benicio del Toro, Jena Malone and many more, the film follows Larry “Doc” Sportello, a pot-smoking detective on a kidnapping case in 1970′s Los Angeles. With a late-year release, ourmost-anticipated film of 2014 will go up against Ridley Scott‘s Exodus and the family filmPaddington, but it remains to be seen which film festival it will bow at, if it all. There’s the chance he could return to Cannes after Punch Drunk Love, but with this slot, we’d say Venice or TIFF is more likely.

David Fincher in Talks to Direct Steve Jobs Biopic Written by Aaron Sorkin

According to Variety, Fincher is in early talks to direct the movie. Provided that Fincher approves of Sorkin’s take (the behind-the-scenes material on The Social Network Blu-ray shows that the two work well together), here’s what the screenwriter told The Daily Beast he has in store:

“I hope I don’t get killed by the studio for giving too much away,” Sorkin said, “but this entire movie is going to be three scenes, and three scenes only, that all take place in real time.”

Real time, Sorkin said, “is when a half hour for you in the audience is the same as a half hour for the character on the screen. There will be no time cuts. Each of these three scenes is going to take place before a product launch—backstage before a product launch. The first one being the Mac, the second one being NeXT (after he had left Apple), and the third one being the iPod.”

Matthew McConaughey to star in Gus Van Sant film about 'suicide forest' Sea of Trees

Matthew McConaughey is reportedly set to take the lead role in Gus Van Sant's next movie Sea of Trees, about the Aokigahara forest in Japan which has become a hotspot for suicides.

Chris Sparling will pen the film's script, which according to Variety sees McConaughey play a suicidal man who meets a character played by Ken Watanabe in the forest.

Known as the Sea of Trees, Aokigahara is a 35-square-kilometre forest near Mount Fuji that has become a popular place for people to take their lives, with up to 100 people committing suicide there each year with signs having to be put up in an attempt to dissuade people.

Minor bit of trivia, (I think I posted this before but can't remember where) Japan has a problem with under-reporting murder/suicides to keep the incident rates artificially low. AKA there'll be a guy with a belt around his neck and it'll get recorded as 'household accident' or something. Likewise for murder victims. Cultural influences relating to projecting an outward appearance of order.

Really want to see the Frank Sidebottom film. Looks bonkers. Got good festival buzz too.
Can't believe it's Michael Fassbender. Shame though as the films Frank is already far more likeable and cooler than the real version. Also where's the Lancashire accent.

If you have ever read my posts, you will know how fond I am of shit movies

I'm vaguely familiar. A movie about a demon that comes out of the protagonists arse and murders people who upset him, springs to mind. But this one is truly special. The music, effort, seriousness of it. At the start I thought it was part of Marvel phase 3, and I was waiting for the real effects to kick in, then the full horror of what I was watching slowly dawned on me.
