Olympiakos vs. Manchester United

In any season prior to this one I believed we could improve as the game got on. So I wouldn't be worried at this point.
But this season this hasn't happened once. So I am expecting same shitty performance in the second half.
COME ON UNITED!

Seems most of the posters were correct in their concerns.

Valencia, Cleverley, Smalling, Rooney, Rio have all been very poor. Not good enough!

A part of me dies when I see Sults lose faith. I know I have long lost faith but the fact you believed still Sults, I dunno...was appealing to the irrational part of my brain. There was a part of me wanting to believe we could still amount to something this year. Now, its really done.

They were nailed on to start this one....

I hope this finally shows Moyes if you start Valencia and Young you don't win. Kagawa and Januzaj probably need to replace them, with Fellaini for Cleverley. Think most fans hoped that would be how we started the game.

I reckon Moyes will leave it too late and we'll be lucky to get a draw.

That's another sad thing, SAF has had many weird formations which were criticized before matches during numerous times. However he managed to get many great results with his formations and despite each criticism, fans always hoped for something good to come out of it since SAF knows his shit.
Moyes has been a confirmation of every single things fans were afraid. His poor first 11s can't even surprise us with some decent results. It's all too predictable.

I can't do it mate end up going one it the other.

On the first half, disaster first 10-15 mins then we started to play reasonably well, keep it tight and try and pinch a goal was the plan ! We've been sloppy in dangerous areas and poor, still when the goal came it was still a surprise as Olympiakos haven't looked like much of a side. We need to pick up the pace here but we've seen this before and Moyes might react to this half sometime in March.
Let's see.
It was easy to do this game, there was nothing to pass comment on, I must admit in some match threads I tend to vent a bit and post rubbish.

Its the fecking formation. We did so well against palace, movement all over the park, short, incisive passing.

But here, back to a rigid four four fecking two. This limits our attacking play immensely. Why the feck can't Moyes see that? Why can't we be a bit more adventerous again OLYMPI feckING AKOS!!!!!

Exactly! I thought our movement, possession and invention was very good at Selhurst Park. But was our response? To revert to the same system that's buggered us up all season.

We're like the child who doesn't learn that the stove is hot.

Moyes will throw on Hernandez and Welbeck with 15 minutes to go the adventurous devil.

This is the last time I bet on Utd to win. I can't believe what i'm watching. The combination of Valencia/Carrick/Cleverley/Young is awful. Possibly the worst i've seen Utd field in the history of the Champions League.

Can anyone think of a worse one?

I'm starting to feel like 1-0 to Olympiakos might be better to take home than 1-1. At 1-1 we'd be going through on away goals, try to sit back at OT and concede in the ninety-fourteenth minute.

Dortmund have had an atrocious injury crisis and struggled immensely in Bundesliga yet scored 4 in Russia. Surely United can score once in Greece!
I know, all the injuries they have had and they are still a real threat. I know it has affected their league form, but maybe Klopp wants the CL. We just use it as an excuse.

Dreadful performance. Maybe the worse I've seen this season, given the opposition. Everything bad about Moyes' United summed up in 45 minutes.

4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1 as we've played it) in Europe with two wingers is simply ludicrous. Forget the "defensive cover of wingers" or any of that. The best way to defend in Europe is simply to keep the ball. The best way to attack is simply to keep the ball. Bring at least one, or maybe both, wingers narrow so that you can keep the ball and build up pressure.

With two wide wingers you dont get to attack, coz you dont get the ball anywhere near their penalty area. Sure you may have it at the back, but we've barely had a touch in their half. All our "wing play" has been on the half way line, or just inside. How the hell is RvP going to get a chance from there?

And especially after the promising display on Saturday - why go back to the system thats failed us all season?

Moyes, please. Sort it out.

We really didn't though. We were less terrible than usual and that's the height of it.

I enjoyed the performance against palace - it didn't nearly put me to sleep as so many of our other performances this season have, particularly this one!

I got i funny feeling...

That we wont win the CL.. That are news to Moyes as he seems to think so..

If Moyes says at the end that we played well, I will throw something through the TV. Wish MUTV would just say they have been shit.
"We played well. We controlled possession & hit the bye line about 30 times. We just needed that little bit of luck, which Olympiakos got. We've had no luck this season. Well just continue to work hard & our luck will change"....

Best say goodbye to your tv DTP. :(

If we struggle immensely in the league (3rd place), then what are you guys doing this season? We also show a different face in International matches. Fun fact is also, that we dominated (the two goals by Zenit were the results of an offside situation and an extremely soft penalty) with less possesion than the Russians. Shows that the 61% of United today mean absolutely nothing.

It didn't take Kevin to call that one though, it's happened all season.

We play Valencia and Young and get the ball wide and it never finds it's way back into Rooney or Van Persie who grow increasingly fraustrated.

Carrick does his business quietly while Cleverley offers the grand sum of feck all divided by zero.

Why is it we can all see it and even predict it before it happens but Moyes can't? It's honestly an absolute disgrace.

Said it earlier but I just can't understand how we can do this time and time again.

Off the ball we drop Rooney in and although I don't think the positioning etc is great it sort of works when people arent slipping over.

But as soon as we get it back, regardless how deep, players are straight up the pitch, which means we can't get out of our half and loose any momentum.

We've done it so many times this season it's unbelievable. Plus we've got the great benefit of seeing Valencia and clev both in central areas accomplishing nothing.

Pretty much what i was thinking.
