Shinji Kagawa

I said our team lacks a player that offers the short option to a pass negating the need to go long, such a player would need to be in a state of constant motion and pass and move. For all of Scholes passing quality he made many safe passes to keep possession, he knew when to try a killer ball.

When Kagawa doesn't play we lack that player offering the short option. When he does goals like the third and moves like that add another dimension to our play since he always tries to make himself available.

Clearly you don't respect football like Barcelona plays and you don't respect players passing and moving. You are content with the football club lacking a player that makes himself available and you are content with our players being forced to play a futile long pass when their is little chance of it being completed because somebody isn't coming nearer to offer an alternative passing route.

I don't care whether it is Kagawa or whether it is somebody else we sign but we need to ensure around the half way line, in our half and also as we enter the final third that short pass is an option.

Kagawa haters for you. I merely point out how we have missed that since Scholes and I get accused of stating Kagawa is like Scholes. I am pointing out something in our football missing and the player that helps solve that one problem. And it's a big problem.

I also love the point regarding an essay. You really should give yourself up to science if you think my post constitutes an essay.

God forbid you tried to read a book

It's not the sign of an intelligent mind to use 500 words when one or two will suffice.

Stop saying shit like "you should give yourself up to science" all it
does is make you sound pompous.

If you can't see my point about Kagawa fair enough. Going on about the beauty of Barcelona and Kagawa haters was fantastic entertainment though.

DDG, Rafa, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Mata, Carrick, Felliani, Januzaj, RVP, Rooney

keeper, Vidic, Jones, Young, Welbeck, Chicarito , Nani

With Valencia, Cleverly, Fletcher and Kagawa all missing out

2 wingers and 2 strikers but no place for Kagawa? Never mind the fact he's miles better than Young.

Well they've all had better seasons than him. (Apart from Nani) Considering Rooney/Jones covers CM and Young, Nani cover the wings what position are we keeping Kagawa free for?

And Young has won us games this year. Kagawa hasn't.

When you measure Kagawa by Ashley Young's standards, he's been amazing. When you measure Kagawa by his Dortmund standards he's been okay.

Why will he play more between now and the end of the season? What's happened between him playing 0 minutes for a month and suddenly he deserves more?
Probably because Moyes will use Adnan more sparingly between now and the end of the season as he wants to avoid burning him out at such an early stage in his development. He's already hinted to that effect.

Hopefully Young and Valencia move on. If RvP decides to move on, here's hoping we see more of Rooney at striker and Kagawa in the hole.

He was alright but I wouldn't be surprised if his fanbois (hundreds of them in the newbie section in comparison to the mains) would think he "changed" the game.
He helped with the passing rhythm.
I don't think even the most ardent Kagawa fans could be arguing that he set the world on fire yesterday but helping to improve our passing game shouldn't be trivialised and dismissed seeing as it's something we have been poor at all season. It's almost as if short passing moves and fluidity are valued less than getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible.

I agree with you and a player like him was good to be introduced that late in that match. The movement was good prior his sub and he contributed to its improvement. Passing and moving is among the basics of football but we've been so bad at it for the last 2 seasons that when it happens, the players who play a role in it should be it valued.
We have had the players to play better football for a while with all the injuries to key players taken into account during various moments of the season. We just need to keep at it and maintain this way of playing for several games in a row.

Ashley Young has been much better than him this year.
It depends what you class as better. Kagawa usually wants to cut inside and do things centrally (something we have been lacking this season), Young wants to hug the touchline and get crosses in.

Young might have more goals/assists (not supprising as he's probably played more than him) but i prefer using Kagawa and believe we should give him a chance at a run in the first team than continue with Young - and not just 20 minutes here and there

Actually Young has no assists, same with Kagawa. This is despite Young being our 6th most frequent crosser. We cross a lot so... 74 put in by Young so far, Rooney and RVP havent turned one in yet. Kagawa averages 10.1 passes more than Young per game and 7% more accurate with his passes. Kagawa has dribbled more often, won more tackles, made more interceptions and so on. The main thing is Young got a couple of goals this season, Kagawa has none. Oh and Young is faster.

Young has played more in the league. Kagawa got a bunch of games in the champions league where Young hasnt featured too much

This is why stats are shit. The stats will show Ashley Young with no assists but I remember him whipping in a ball to get us a 3-2 win late on earlier this season.

Does he not get an assist for being fouled in the build up to a penalty as well?

Yeah penalties... Ashley Young

Young blows hot and cold a bit too much for my liking. Kagawa on the other hand, oozes class. That video where he created loads of chances that were squandered by players on the other end speaks volumes.

See this is my problem. He does "ooze" a type of class. He plays football how we'd all like to see it. However when he's not contributing or dinking little balls to the keeper with no one around he's incredibly frustrating.

Still better than Young's head down and cross it anywhere style...

Young is limited but can certainly give us a goal threat with his balls. There's been four or five games this year where Ashley Young has dramatically effected the game in our favour.

But even when he has, we have gone 80 minutes looking shit, much of that due to Young stopping our attack arguably even more than Valencia. Young does score some great goals from time to time, and this season they have been important. He's OK as a squad player, but he limits our play.

fecking hell on what planet? Is that because he scored a couple of goals?

He ran 15 yards into the corner of the pitch with his head down against Olympiakos. That's the player he is.

And Kagawa's first two contributions yesterday were to dink a ball to the other teams keeper and then get shrugged off the ball.

Clearly, one or two wouldn't suffice because despite using 500 words as you say, in order to make a point and then continually reinforce this very point you still misunderstood entirely what I stated.

In fact, repeating myself on these forums has arisen in response to posters not unlike yourself. Prior to this, often users would read what was stated and reply to the post as though something else had been stated therefore in order to increase clarity in my responses I made sure to repeat myself. This successfully worked as I found users understood precisely what I was getting at however you are a unique case, despite repeating myself several times to drill home my message and avoid confusion, you still somehow, near miraculously, failed to understand the text you read.

I don't care whether I sound pompous, I'm being honest. Of course we live in a society where perhaps honestly isn't the best policy, where silence is golden and those that speak the brutal truth are condemned. But in this case I do feel you could be of importance to mankind and if it is so you often read something yet misunderstand this very thing then you could be of great contribution to fields such as psychology somewhat like Harlow's monkeys, Koko the gorilla and those dogs from that learned helplessness study in the 60s.

And again you misunderstand my point, in this case regarding Barcelona.

I find how you read something and then fail to understand even the simplest underlying messages from that text utterly fascinating, this is what I said:

I won't insult you further, I am now at a stage where I feel sympathy for you. It is though something occurs in your environment but as your senses perceive this event, your brain reconstructs it so it is consistent with what you want to have happened. At this point your new memory of the event has changed from the reality of the event.

Not just his goals. His pace and movement as well. Hence the won penalty v Crystal Palace and the one he should have won against Tottenham.

:wenger:

I tip my fedora to you good sir.

You're talking about a football player on a forum. Utterly bizarre

As pointed out earlier, all his no-look-crosses this season has yielded ZERO assists...

:lol: go on son, fight the righteous fight.

Hasn't Kagawa started more games?

No, Ashley Young has started 9 games in the EPL this season, Kagawa has started 7. Just as a bonus, Valencia has started 17.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find people who think Ashley Young is a better player than Kagawa. He scores the occasional screamer which shows up in highlights, but he's been poor considering his transfer fee and wage. Not to mention the fact that he's always played in his preferred position and still not yielding great results.
