Everton vs. Man United

I think Moyes will still be safe despite this result. We knew that we are missing out on CL football and Europa doesn't mean anything. Sacking a manager for one result isn't the Manchester United way. At least he is trying to win a CL spot until it is mathematically impossible (may be even after that, give his condition).

It's not just one result though, is it? it's an entire season of mind-boggling incompetence. The mans a joke.

I like the way you use him trying as a compliment, as if we should be happy with that. I'm pleased he's not showing up to work drunk but it's not exactly praiseworthy either.

People aren't calling for him to be sacked after one result. There has to be one result however which is the straw which breaks the camels back.

Also, I know a lot of people had tried to see a bit of positivity in our recent revival (yes we now include going out the CL as a revival as long as we don't embarrass ourselves), and the Everton game was seen as a way to measure whether it was yet another false dawn

We've got little cohesion and despite a decent rest look really sluggish. We're a collection of individuals playing against a team, that's the difference.

That's the whole point, some posters were praising the first 20 minutes because we were basically tossing ourselves off in meaningless areas. Having skilful creative players helps you move it quicker because they have the technique to do that, it's completely pointless them being so laboured in possession while their use is lessened even more by having an unfit/out of form striker not making threatening runs and by the wide areas they vacate being covered by full backs who are our 2 least talented players.

G Nev had it right, it's like a training ground keep ball exercise, but unless the possession is 100% we're roasted on the counter

Can't just pin this all on Rooney [who is clearly at about 40% fitness].

None of them have a clue what to do, it's not even our CM because we've had comfortable possession that half.

The entire front four don't have a fecking clue how to break through a defence or the confidence to even take a shot on.

No manager in the world could plan for that sort of lunacy fron his own players.
No but how managers would have spotted the threat from coleman and done something about it? Our wingers aren't even trying to take on the fullbacks. We have three #10s on the pitch and no 9. That is the managers fault. We have essentially 6 midfielders on the pitch.

So Everton are a vastly better without Moyes and United are a vastly worse side with Moyes.

Does anyone disagree with these observations?

Dwight Yorke getting a little mad in the studio, stopping short of criticising Rooney and Moyes tho

kagawa Mata and nani can t play together at the same time. Most posters over here were happy to see them in the line up but the actual game showed the flaws of such a formation. Great with the ball in our feet, extremely exposed when we lose it.

His other shit results?

Fletcher - Carrick are offering nothing going forward and they still manage to get caught out on the break. Seems like a concentrated effort to take up the most useless positions on the pitch.

Absolutely, it's crazy how they can offer so little offensively yet still provide feck all defensive solidity.

Not a good day (so far) for a couple of Caf's most popular views - one concerning the desire to play Mata Kagawa Nani instead of at least one out and out winger, second the myth about Everton under Martinez. That's the least inspiring and simply horrible to watch Everton I can remember. The first decent move they played was in 36th minute when they managed to string 3 passes together and even then it ended up without a shot.

We played like this at Anfield, apart from Everton have been a much bigger threat on the break. Lots of possession but no cutting edge.

...except Barry and McCarty are doing what midfielders should do instead of what Carrick and Fletcher have done.

Maybe. Just maybe you know that could have to do with the manager?

That said, I dont blame the CMs for our position in the game.

Im beginning to think we dodged a bullet with Rooney.

He's miles better than anything you've got.

You'd have won the league if you got him. And having just typed that I now wish you'd got him :(

Can't you do something weird in his general direction rim?

i've been hip thrusting a google image search of his name for the past 5 minutes.

Carragher is just a prick, we are playing badly but to call 2 excellent players like Mata and Kagawa Monday to Friday players, to say the centre backs are useless, he's just showing his colours, it isn't analytical, its just taking cheap shots.

Other than the scoreline, it's at least foundation of the type of football I'd like us to continue playing. We haven't fashioned any chances but, we've been able to put them under pressure.

Both goals stem from defensive mistakes and not the result of Moyes being out of his depth. I said to my boy at the start of the game, not fussed if we lose as long as there is a sign of some good football by us.

I believe we'll come back if we can get a goal early enough in the first half.

I'm confused as to why it's Jones at CB and not Smalling

We all are. Well, I am anyway. Smalling is clearly our best CB. He is obviously no good at right back. But hey, let's play him there anyway!

Moyes would be just as good as Klopp, Guardiola, Ancelotti, van Gaal, and Mourinho if United allow him to spend 150 million. That is all that is needed.

You've got to feel for people like Yorke and Neville on the TV. They used to have pride when playing for Manchester United, and showed it on the pitch. They must be reeling looking at the current squad and how fast we are in freefall.

I Just don't think the players give a shite to be honest. Nothing really to play for apart from honouring the fans hard earned cash that pours into the man utd coffers. Having watched Liverpool earlier...this performance is just bloody depressing

Rooney has just played one of the worst 45 minutes you have seen this season.

You don't get it do you?

They have set up like this and pre-empted our tactics. That's why they are hitting us hard on the counter and playing direct. This Everton side under Martinez are flexible with their tactics depending on who they are playing. Something we are nowhere near yet.

We are just woeful defensively and offensively Rooney has ruined any decent position we've managed to get into, what's wrong with his decision making?! One with and Fletcher and another with Mata all he had to do is square the ball to the player unmarked on the edge of the box! Get Chica on.
Yes Rooney is slowing our play down and getting in the way, he has been very annoying first half in my opinion.

Some serious over reactions on here. We haven't been great but if the defenders weren't all over the place this would be seen as a good performance so far. It's all on Evans and jones and buttner so far.
