Rafael injured?

--Valencia---------------------Evra--
-----------Carrick----Jones----------
---Rooney------Kagawa-----Welbeck
---------------Hernandez------------

Lindegaard, Evans, Fletcher, Cleverly, Mata, Januzaj, Nani

PACE, POWER, ATTACK-ATTACK-ATTACK!

Mata on the bench for when Kagawa tires - Mata on for last 20 min, to skillfully administer the Coup de grâce. (before that he's no use as he can't run or tackle)
Don't want Fellaini any where near a shirt - send him a message.
Rehabilitate Cleverly - even if it's just to get a decent price for him. (£27 million to Everton?)
Nani - I'm feeling soft here - needs some pitch time before the world cup but really, I'd love Giggs to bring through a youngster.

I'd pick that formation, it's what the players are comfortable with after all. With Evra injured we'd need to play Buttner. Left flank does look a little weak, so we could have the option of picking Evans at LB if we want it to look a little more solid defensively. Welbeck upfront is a most for me, that's his best position, he scores goals and gets assists on a regular basis in that position and is a constant threat with his pace and trickery. I'd have Rooney and Welbeck swapping about when it feels natural. I.E. If Welbeck runs the right channel to pick up the ball, Rooney makes a B line to get in the CF position along with Mata.

Carrick and Clev is our best midfield partnership imo so pick them. Valencia at RB although I'd love it if Giggs gave Varela a chance.

Giggs to wear full kit under jacket, and come on!

Still, here's to United, under Giggs, blitzing Norwich on Saturday. Wonder if they'll be passing it around the 18 yard line all evening?

That't not what Mata does at all, infact he is direct player who creates opportunities and would be a breath of fresh air in such a passing team which doesn't create much. Anyway, you don't rate Mata, I rate him as our 2nd best player behind RvP, so we won't agree here. End of discussion.

My claim is that he can't run or tackle & that kind of player, is a luxury United will not accept.
Can he run? How many yards does he give away, over 40 yards to say, a 33 year old Gerrard, who's just taken the ball off him on the edge of the Liverpool box & is breaking up-field?
Can he tackle? Well, no of course he can't, not even Scoles standard, leaving a foot in. He is a luxury player in a United shirt. Last 20 min when the opposition are tiring, fantastic - take them to pieces.

Calm down Tony Pulis.

Cantona never did much running or tackling either.

Valencia looses concentration occasionally, at RB but he's got to worth a punt, rather than paying 15 million.

I see Hernandez as chomping at the bit to prove a point but I've faith in Welbeck too.

Against Norwich, Buttner should be able to press - take the game to them & see them off by half time. ;)

By occasionally do you mean almost every time he plays at right back?

End of discussion :D NO, it isn't. Mata is a great player but not at United. Slows the play, hesitate, foot on the ball, pass it back, Cleverly in disguise. He wasn't at Chelsea but JM dropped him for good reasons. He's an individual & when United have had 'individuals', they also had all round contributions to give the team - even Eric would put his foot in - Mata? Please.

I've liked the look of Buttner anyway going forward in the last few games. He's not as bad as people make out imo.

I'd certainly rest Jones after that mistake last game and I'd pick Rio's leadership qualities ahead of Evans and Vidic. I'd probably start Vidic if it wasn't confirmed he's off in the Summer tbh!

The front 4 is a difficult one as we have so many class players. I'd certainly look to involve Nani, Kags and Hernadez using them as mid way subs on the hour mark.

We will win this one with ease, trust me. Boys will be on fire and playing with relief that Moyes is no longer around. They will play for Giggs this time, with passion and belief.

That’s how it will be. Comfortable win. I want to feel some emotions once again.

Cantona never did much running or tackling either.

He tackled, not always legally but he tackled & got up & down when required - was also useful in opposition set pieces. Mata, P_lease.

Yeh - I admit it - but in this very important fixture, I'd go with him over Smalling or Jones. I want to see us attacking, through the middle with Kagawa, Hernandez & wide with the full backs - the United way. ;)

As quiet as Giggs is, he will do what is best for the club and if that means not playing Rooney, especially if he has still not fully recovered from injury, then he will do it. He has played under SAF for too long not to understand that tough decisions with big players need to be made.

It's hard to judge this season if a player has been out of form or not, due to reports that players purposely didn't play to their normal high standards in order to get Moyes sacked. If that's true, it's really unprofessional on their part. However, it looks like Giggs will revert the team back to the old United ways of attacking with pace & power so he'll have his own ideas on who he feels can do the job for us.

I'm really excited for Saturday. Giggs will get the team pumped up for it and challenge them to show that this United team isn't done & dusted and we can still be ruthless against other teams. Looking forward to his press conference tomorrow.

Have a feeling we'll tear them apart. (Again.)

I have to disagree with this, every time I've seen Mata play he hardly ever loses possession and is always looking to pass it forward and attack. He's the closest we've got to Scholes imho in the team at the moment. And his attitude is outstanding.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play under a new, more attacking, manager.

Me too but I just hold the opinion that eventually we'll find out as JM did that he's a non fit. I don't think for a moment, we'll be going down the 'progressive' road of Barca & Bayern - more Madrid for us please. Mata is not even Modric standards, so far as his all round contribution goes. Modric was supporting Coentrao, when the full back tired last night - I don't see Mata doing that - hope to be proved wrong.

Closest to Scoles in one aspect of play he may be but still, no way he could play as a part of a two man midfield as Scoles did for so many years and as such, he's a no10 & IMO, a bit of a luxury one at that - Jose told me so ;)

Gary Neville endorses this message.

William Hill are offering 14-1 that Giggs gives a youth player his senior debut v Norwich.

A cheeky tip off to a mate, followed by a 1min sub appearance for some youngster, and everyone cashes in. :p

"Almost every word". your too kind.

Now let's see, an average of 8 posts, every single day, for nearly three years. Your either a genius footballing guru or, a very boring chap.

No need to get personal. He criticised your post, which is fine.

Yes he did LR7 but in a manner that was unnecessary, don't you think? Who got personal first? Am I supposed to just take that on the chin?

I like how you worked out his average posts since he joined whilst simultaneously insulting him for having no life ;)

You insulted him, not his post.

De Gea
Jones--Evans--Vidic--Evra
Valencia--Carrick--Cleverley--Januzaj
Rooney--Welbeck

I'm pretty certain this will be the team. I hope I'm wrong.
