Liverpool

Maybe I'm wrong but I always felt our collapse in 2011 was down to complacency rather than losing our nerve. Once Arsenal had beat City on the sunday it felt like it was won and we played like that for the rest of the season.

The surprise defeat to Wigan was definitely complacency. Had we won, then 8 points with 5 games would've looked a lot more certain for us than 5 points which we already knew at that stage could be cut down further if City beat us. We wouldn't have been so tentative and wary going into that City game if we'd been able to lose and still stay top, so might have stood a better chance of winning it.

This needs to stay like this!

I hope these taunts wont come back to haunt us, Im holding tough til after the Palace game has been done and dusted.

The Everton game will be the World Cup Final for City.

If they win that, then I don't see them losing the rest of their games. There's a chance that most everton fans will cheer on City this weekend.

All 3 games are huge for them but Everton the toughest on paper, saying that my friend that is an Evertonian said there was a poll where Everton fans would prefer missing out on a champions league spot if it meant Liverpool didnt win the league :D

Haha, from toffeetalk.

Everyone who wants everton to win on saturday is obviously not a scouser and has not endured years of banter fofrom the Muppets across the park.

I want us to be beaten convincingly. Even reading into this Muppets thread you can taste the bitterness of there humiliation of the screaming premature home coming outside anfield yesterday with the shouts 'were gonna win the league' well let me tell you something fella, your not and we will make sure of that. Europa or no Europa it's a win win for us. We either secure Europe of watch you red shite get that smerk well and truelly whiped off your faces.

Commmmmeeeee onnnnnnn city.

Blueeeee moooooooonnnn .....

No grey area there then.

i can understand a blue nose who wants city to win the title but can't understand a guy shouting for his team to lose

Well you know one now, don't you Muppet boy. Glad to see Chelsea parked a bus cause it's the only bus you'll be seeing this season.

Here's one: Liverpool are on 96 goals. Has a team in any league ever scored 100 goals and lost the league on goal difference? That just sounds mind boggling to me. If they lose it on goal difference to score so many goals.

Probably not, at least not in a major league I wouldn't have thought. Only one team have broken 100 goals in a PL season and that was Chelsea with 103, and it's only been decided on goal difference once. Liverpool have already conceded more than any previous PL winner, and currently find themselves only 7 ahead of Chelsea on goal difference, despite scoring 27 more, as well as being 8 behind City, despite playing a game more and scoring 3 more.

Lots of posters have been saying their weak defence will come back to haunt them & that no side winning the league should do so by conceding all the goals they have. Hopefully this is the case.

Arsenal winning the league at Anfield was far more splendid & dramatic than City's triumph, IMO.

Twas for me anyway! They actually finished level on GD, so Arsenal won on GS.

It was better. The two teams going head-to-head, closer GD and a last minute goal to win it......Liverpool losing........great!!

Wouldn't it be ironic if Everton of all teams gave Liverpool the upper hand in the title race again?

Liverpool did their best to win it for United in 95 but Andy Cole was less keen...

That's not going to happen mate. City will coast it at Goodison on Saturday. They'll win by at least 2 goals.

The only thing that's still in our hands is to ensure City have to win their final game of the season at home to West Ham. I'd happily take that scenario right now.

Yeah still a ways to go and lots of things that could play out with Liverpool holding the trophy. But if that happens we can just turn around and laught at City then to make outselves feel better.

What's the fourth tie-breaker after points -> goal differential -> goals scored?

Sky at weekend said that one of City or Liverpool this season will be the first side to score over 90 goals and not win the PL.

Just had a read through that one, it's child play compared to this 143 page beast. They are making a good debate of it, the poll was conducted well before they were out of the hunt for 4th so it's not an accurate reflection of the most recent discussions, but City have gained around 120 votes compared to 30 for Everton since I had a peak before the Arsenal v Newcastle game. It's a good laugh to be fair.

 It's getting quite feisty in there.

I'm really enjoying this run in for once!

Tell you what though, this is probably Liverpool's best chance on taking the prem, if they blow this I can't see them near again for a while especially after Suarez buggers off.

Did you see us winning it this year?

Did you see us winning it this year?

I didn't. I still don't. You've had an amazing season, but I think next year will be tougher with more fixtures to play around with.

You'll need to be very smart in the market - how do you see next season going? what would you be happy with?

Also I should ask, how do you see the remaining few games panning out? I am dreading this weekend.

A city fan using the Red Devil smiley.

No. You want too bad, all the training goes out the window when desperation sneaks in. I don't think you have the cool nerve with the teams around you so close.

It was Chelsea's, they threw it away with shit results against teams they should have beaten. They had the pedegree to cross the line. Now they're effectively 3rd favourites, i think City will take it... that game at Palace is gonna be tough for you and I can see Pulis getting a point.

Next year I'd like to get out the group stages of the CL and finish in the top three in the league.

I don't know how many we'll score or who you'll drop points to, I just think we'll end up with the title.
