The very idea of appointing Giggs is 100% more ridiculous than appointing Moyes last summer was.

Well said. We need to re-establish an identity. Van Gaal did it Ajax. He did it Barca and then Rijkaard came in and improved it. He did it Bayern and then Jupp Heynckes improved it.

Some of our players look drunk. What other excuse could there be for such lethargy? We've been a bit sloppy in possession, criminally so in CM. We're slipping into the bad habit of poor aimless crosses again, and that must stop.

Early on some of our play through the middle looked promising. Giggs needs to try and get more speed of thought in central areas so we break quicker and have runners getting in behind their defence. We're playing far too much in front of their back 4 without ever really breaking through them. I can only remember a handful of shots at goal from us.
 
One of the rare times we put in a cross good enough for our lone striker, it was Hernandez himself who crossed the ball. I still don't understand why our wingers can't do that. Watching the kids last night, even our junior full backs were putting in better crosses.
 
This game is crying for players like Kagawa and Januzaj to be on the pitch.. we need wide players who can pass and move.. Young and Nani have been so ineffective in the 1st half.

Our midfield has been woeful because they dont have anyone to pass the ball to when they get it.. Mata's getting man marked while Young and Nani are useless in possession when under pressure.. unlike Kagawa or Adnan

In this form Carrick should be a squad player at best. But we know he can do so much better. It's like he's just not interested.
 
We just need to get a few more crosses in. Fletcher out, Valencia in. Play two wingers on the right.
 
Do Carrick and Fletcher ever play good together? Their styles just don't match.
 
I hate how players just allow crosses to fly into the box instead of defending them and then setting up to defend the corner.

The goal was all on Darren, sadly.

Yup. Dropped our best player of late (Kagawa), picked a winger who doesn't deserve to play for Manchester United on one wing (young), and another who has been injured or unfit all season on the other (Nani). Makes zero sense when you have Januzaj as well.

Also the obsession on crossing needs to stop.

Because we have literally no creativity whatsoever from central areas from our cms. Mata has some but when its only one player you just get tight to him and he cant do much.

If you're referring to that pass that got intercepted, that was Carrick's fault, just took his eye off the ball completely.

Don't know why Young is being singled out once again, probably been one of our best players (not saying he's played particularly well, but we've been pretty poor all over the park). He's put in some good balls which a sharper Hernandez may have got a goal from.
 
Another game that shows hernandez is not of the quality for this team.

Not to mention young, my word hes awful
 
Also, it's laughable how Hernandez put in more dangerous crosses than both Young and Nani combined whole fecking game, they've got literally nothing in their locker.

Because they know their mate Giggsy won't be too harsh on them if we lose. Get Louis in soon as.
 
Only started watching from 20 minutes in, but that looked abysmal. We have to keep on crossing, even though it's clearly not working because it's The United Way™.
 
Young :(

10 crosses. 1 accurate cross. Mata kept putting him in really good positions to put in some good crosses. Such a shame.

Kagawa and Januzaj are creative and should be playing.
 
The CM is just fecking wank. Our wingers haven't exactly set the world alight neither. feck knows why Giggs hasnt put Kagawa at least on the bench. Throw RvP out there.

Well it was also Carrick's fault, the pass wasnt good neither. Carrick's been our worst player on the pitch hands down anyway. What a dissapointing season he has had. Incredible.
 
A strong manager would consider subbing off Carrick in the second half. This has been the worst performance I've ever seen from him.
 
Haven't lost against these at home since 1968. Mass walk out on 68 minutes?
 
There is a possibility that Mata will be the only on field player in our main starting eleven next season. Jones possibly, but not at RB. Very mediocre players out there today, the gap in technical ability between Juan and the rest of the team (except Nani maybe) is staggering.
 
We were just as bad in the first half against Norwich, then Rooney turned things around and Giggs was suddenly a genius.

I don't get the team selection. He seems to just want to pick whoever has been longest at the club. Moyes went for "experience" early on, and it was a disaster.

Whatever happens in the second half I hope this is yet another warning to those claiming we do not need a major squad revamp, we just need a new manager.
 
I'm of the belief that it isn't purely a case of having incompetent managers. The squad has been assembled to aid the wingers. The centre midfielders don't have it in their locker to play through the middle.

It's one thing to demand passing tactics, but if the centre midfielders have no confidence in tight spaces or to take on a man - what can any manager do? Throw Yaya or Ramsey in there, and without even changing a tactic, we'd be playing better in the centre.

We'd be better off with Joe Allen and Jonjo Shelvey in there - that's how bad things are.
 
If our wingers were any good and knew how to pick out players in the box then we'd be up by a few goals. Completely controlled the game until their goal against the run of play. We are getting it in good positions but the final ball is awful. Bring on Januzaj for one of the wingers, and RVP for Hernandez a bit later. Plenty of time to come back and get the win though.
