It's not Liverpool winning the league that most have the problem with. It's the media love in, how unbearable your fan base becomes, the delusion etc.
City will win the league, celebrate for a week or so and then look to next year. We'd never hear the end of it if Liverpool win it. There'd be articles and poems on RAWK for the next 2 decades about how it was the greatest title win ever in the face of great FA corruption and therefore outweighed United's 13.
I also feel as though with City having won it recently, that duck has been broken. We accepted that they will continue to artificially inject money in and spend ridiculous amounts to remain competitive where as Liverpool haven't been a top side for a quarter century. I guess we don't want that to end.

I'm actually amazed how many people really don't want Liverpool to win it - which has become apparent over the last few weeks. United and Everton for obvious reasons, but even looking around, a large majority of the Villa fans over on Villa talk don't want to take points on Wednesday now they are safe, along with more than a few West Ham fans over on Knees Up Mother Brown wishing a loss on the final day over Liverpool winning the title. Quite a shock to me.
I think it's because Liverpool fans are universally insufferable arseholes.
I was more surprised by the media-driven "the neutrals want Liverpool to win it" bollocks. It's been an insufferable love-in all year round and I think people have been awaiting the day it crumbles...even if it means City win it.
It's not just United who are universally disliked...it's just there's been more reason to wish failure upon United because up until season they've been there are thereabouts for 20+ years. Liverpool's fanbase has maintained its johnny big-bollocks attitude in that time period - and I know many people who absolutely detest United who equally dislike the arrogance of the Liverpool fans whilst generally being relatively insignificant excluding 2001 and 2005.
Nobody wants Rat face to win the title.

have a couple of City supporting mates....they hate the scousers like we do.
I just had this feeling that Liverpool would lose points against Palace. That assist by Gerrard to Drogba to help Chelsea win the game a couple of years ago came back to haunt him, funnily enough against the same Chelsea team. Hopefully City wrap up the next two games to seal the title and make Gerrard cry. How come Gerrard pushed the camera away today instead of kissing it today?
I wonder if this was Liverpools best chance of winning the EPL and that next season and the following ones will be harder for them to win it, Utd, City, Chelsea and the Arse are all going to be stronger next season and Liverpool are going to have to contend with the extra games of the CL

That's what made the tears so much sweeter! You could see them realize that they had let their best chance get away from them and next year it will be different. They are punching above their weight right now, they only have domestic competitions. This was the golden ticket. I need to go watch Suarez cry some more.

After City won it the other year, other than the Agueroooo moment the hype died down very quickly, because ultimately no one cares in the long run if City or Chelsea buy the odd title. It's expected and inevitable for as long as their sugar daddies retain an interest, and because of that any success they have is not held in nearly as high esteem by the media or by football fans. It will always be tainted.
If Liverpool win their first title in almost two and a half decades we wouldn't hear the end of it, especially with the number of their hangers on in the media.
On the topic of Suarez, do we think his blubbing might have something to do with his imminent departure? Maybe wanting to leave Liverpool on a high note. It reminded me of Ronaldo's reaction when we lost in the CL final.

This is true and deserves to be highlighted more. It will be brushed under the carpet by the media though because it's Gerrard and because it's the current England captain.
But he really has bottled it these last few weeks. The tears, that huddle! (Can anyone imaging Roy Keane doing that? Actually, Kompany or any other club captain?)
The slip, the ridiculous solo quest for redemption and tonight not managing the game or showing any football intelligence, instead trying to add to a 3-0 lead. The fundamentals of any sport is get the job done first and foremost. But it was Schoolboy stuff from him.
Liverpool fans won't admit it but for us and a lot of neutrals, Gerrard will be forever remembered for these last two weeks. The demba ba chants will be sung at every away game for years to come.

It is because the Liverpool fans I know down here are easily the most insufferable group of fans and that seems to be a theme all across the country. It is also because we are fully aware of how much a Liverpool victory would be shoved down our throats for the summer, especially with the 7 million kiverpool pundits on TV.
I know one Arsenal and one Spurs fan who wanted Liverpool to do it and one West Ham fan who was ambivalent but leaning to Liverpool. Everyone else, man utd (obviously), Everton, West Ham, arsenal, Chelsea (if they couldn't), crystal palace, Leyton Orient, Fulham, Millwall, Man City, Spurs, Newcastle, QPR, Bristol Rovers, Southend Unitedand Wigan all wanted Man City. Admittedly a few of those clubs I only know one or two of their fans though.
