They could have done that without looking like wankers and grabbing the ball and charging back.
If they had done a quick celebration and jogged back, that would have been what? 10 seconds more? It's not like Palace wanted to waste time or anything.
All they probably did was motivate the Palace players... it really did nothing for themselves, in regards to saving time or as some form of weird motivational tool.
Why does it make them look like wankers? I really dont get it. They're chasing a title, they believe they can win it on GD and are thus trying to score as many as possible. It has nothing to do with disrespecting Palace. They'd have done the same had it been Stoke, Fulham, Cardiff or anyone else.
Also, I know its a different case but there are similarities with a side being 3 down scoring the 1st goal, not celebrating and charging back with the ball. They dont celebrate because there's nothing to celebrate, the task lies ahead and they dont want to waste time. It was similar then. You could see Rodgers and Co had taken a win for granted pre game (

), their focus was on scoring as many as possible and thus they didnt see it worth celebrating when the 2nd or 3rd went it, for them, the job lay ahead, scoring as many as possible. Nothing to do with disrespect for Palace.
But yes, it could easily have motivated Palace, that I agreed with in my 1st post.
Don't think you can dismiss it that easily. While Pool players didn't seem too disrespectful when they took it out of the net, the combo of "we're going to score as many goals as possible against you" and the Pool fans chanting "attack attack" did make it seem like they felt they were playing an easily run over pub team. I would imagine it played into the Palace comeback.
Anytime you try to run up a score it will seem disrespectful.
I already said it could have played a part in the comeback. My point is, there is nothing disrespectful about a side chasing a title over GD picking the ball up and rushing back to the goal line to start play. That's what they're supposed to do.
There was the slight difference in that we were playing at home to a Swansea team that had only won one of their last 5, including 3-0 defeats to both QPR and Newcastle, whilst Liverpool were playing away against a Palace team that had won 4 of their last 5, including a win against Chelsea.
There's no difference. I dont think its disrespectful in any way but if it was, Swansea arent supposed to feel disrespected because they hadnt been winning much the past few games?
