Credit to @SnowRoll for making this! brilliant!

:lol::lol: I love it

Yep, I suppose it's like a player really. Generally the ones that are very self believing and almost egotistical make the best. You have to believe your the best to be the best. Something Moyes unfortunately had not learnt yet.

I've long since thought that being stubborn, single minded and self centred are qualities that you need to be a pro footballer. As kids they're probably told a thousand times they're never going to make it. The ones who did are the ones who didn't listen.

True. I'm just happy that we will now have a manager worthy of stepping into SAF's shoes.
Hold your horses. Nothing confirmed yet, Woodward is scrambling about desperately trying to feck it up somehow.

The most important question is, will he come in and tell us "THEY keep telling me about Chicarito's movement", "THEY keep telling me about Shinji Kagawa"?

Imagine if he said "They keep telling me what a brilliant player RvP is" :D

I don't think it there's anything wrong with these comments but they really did piss me off.

? He has played against Chicarito before and he has had a preseason with our players and those comments were made after he had already been our manager for a few months. It's absolutely inexcusable if you don't know your players a few months into a season.

Those comments were weird, no matter how much you try to dress them up. Couldn't he have just said something like 'I remember when Hernandez scored that headed goal against me at OT, he's such a natural finisher' or something along those lines. He didn't instill any confidence that he knew what the hell he was doing with comments like that.

Van Gaal coached the best. If Giggs is his assistant, he can be just as good as Guardiola and Mourinho with time.

I actually get the impression Woody is the anti Gill in terms of he likes a bit of razzamatazz. I get the impression if he gets his shit together he will be a fun CEO for fans. He certainly seems like a transfer muppet.

Actually I worry about Woodward becoming our Florentino Perez, or worse, Garry Cook. Manager asks him for targets to improve midfield and he goes off and buys a 'superstar' striker.. koff, koff Cavani...because it seems sexier.

 Don't know how many times people have gotten this wrong. Cavani would be a luxury purchase but not at the expense of what we need. Woodward is a money man first and foremost..he isnt fcking that stupid.

They were strange but I'd like to imagine that he wasn't in shock at his skill-set. I'm not sure there was a lot of truth to what he was saying, more he was trying to big out players up in a somewhat strange manner.

Watching that interview, he cracked me up when he said "I've waited a long time to be in a world...championship...cup...league"

Get it sealed Woody.

The only exception I can think of is Ancelotti. He's the coolest guy ever. Seriously, a humble, nice human being. He's won just about everything football as well.

The only complaint anyone can make against him is that he hasn't won enough league titles.
Yep he has done very well

It's definitely true. Just look at kids for example, if you play like Scholes and keep it neat and tidy, or play like Messi and dribble round 5 players and score; whos more likely to get picked out of the bunch.

It's like he was just going through every word he could think of for a competition, waiting for the journalist to correct him  cup?...league?...championship...tournament...invitational?.... :D

I don't think it there's anything wrong with these comments but they really did piss me off.

They implied a lack of ownership of the club, as though he was just standing in or someone else was in charge.

One thing we can guess about Van Gaal is that he's going to want to take over the place.

LVG has the best gifs, I want him here for that alone.

The question in this interview is more telling than the answer and the answer is perfect for that reason.

To ask an elite level coach "what do you know about Manchester United" is quite insulting to the club and the manager, its a leading and loaded question.

What was the interviewer implying? That not many people know about Manchester United? that weve slipped so far off the boil that were in a worldwide crisis that plants us firmly in the same bracket as Aston Villa? Everton? managers now fumble over themselves when asked about us? "What do you know about Man United?" expecting "Well they have a rich history and seem to be struggling now days, I dont know about their squad, they have players like Rooney? Van Persie? and some others?" utterly embarrassing for the journalist. I mean realistically hed be better off asking that question about Man City.

Thats why I love his response, "Stupid question" simple, accurate and completely slaps the british press in the face. Almost like saying "Are you fecking kidding me, you think were talking about Barnsly or something" he obviously has a huge respect for the club and a stern way of handling himself. Hell remind these players what club they are playing for.
In my opinion, the "Stupid question" remark is one a manager of Man United would make. The fact he got annoyed shows the deal is done and he's on his way.

The reporter was trying to put down United or suggest that United are not as big as we all say they are by asking him what he knows about United. Hence the angry reaction. If this wasn't nailed on he might have given a more laid back answer regarding the size of the club.

That sky sports interview is absolutely class haha. The disgust on his face when the guy asks him "what do you know about Manchester United?" !

I can't blame him for that. AC Milan were showing some signs of decline back then but to beat them back then was a historic feat especially when one considers that VG did that with a bunch of homegrown talent.

van Gaal is a top drawer manager. Anyone that thinks otherwise will be very surprised when they see the progress our team will be making under him.

Love how positive this thread is. Great to see a pretty much United front from United supporters wanting Van Gaal, thread is a million miles away from the very much divided opinions on last years Moyes thread :D

The imminent announcement of Louis van Gaal as Manchester Untied manager has been dragging on for over a week now. At first it would be announced in 24 hours, that soon changed to 48 hours and most reports now claim that it'll be next week.

There's been calm over the situation because both the media in England and Holland have been reporting that a deal has been done, with some of the leaks to the Dutch press appearing to have come from Van Gaal's camp.

However, the Holland manager has been speaking to Voetbal International and seemed annoyed that it was being reported that way, insisting there is no deal and he's considering other clubs too. Voetbal International said he was particularly annoyed with the English media, but then they would say that.

"There is no deal. There are newspapers saying that I've already signed, there are even names of assistants... Too bad it goes this way. "

"There are several clubs interested in Louis van Gaal, we'll see who I choose and what choice the clubs are going to make. It's a process, so it goes with all clubs."

At the same time as Voetbal International were reporting the Van Gaal quotes, several English media outlets were saying Van Gaal had told them Manchester United are the greatest club in the world and he wants to manage them.

This will all be sorted imminently, although we may have to think of a new definition for imminently.

Relax, the reporter was doing nothing of the sort. He asked a poorly worded question, stop overreacting.

Pretty much what he said in the sky interview, and other clubs = Tottenham. Yesterdays article too by the way.

The difference we will see on the pitch between this season and the next will be amazing. Moyes is all about fitness training with little time on the ball whereas Louis van Gaal is pretty much the opposite. He tries to use the ball in every one of his training drills and that will show result on the pitch. Like Rene said, during a game the players show what they did during training that week. Under Moyes the player did little training with the ball and that is why we looked so rigid and boring while in possession.

The results we will see won't happen overnight but at least we will see progress week after week as the players adapt themselves to van Gaal's system and his training methods but I have no doubt about the end result, we will be champions under van Gaal sooner rather than later.

HaE to say I picked up on that too, he's already defending us, I imagine most managers would have a similar response and i have no idea what that reporter expected?

If you think about it, which players currently on our roster excites you the most next season? A healthy RVP and the continued improvement of Januzaj and Wilson. We know van Gaal will get RVP playing top quality football next season through his Dutch team experience and he's known for making younger players with talent get their chance and helping them improve. There would be many beneficiaries to van Gaal becoming the manger but those three plus Mata and Kagawa immediately come to mind.

I've my final year project presentation coming up soon, I'm half tempted to respond to any query with: "That is a stupid question." The man is an absolute legend and exactly what we need.

They weren't really that divided... Most of the forum didn't want Moyes from the start and only when he officially took over did people go back on their words and say he can come good if given time and what not. When fergie was still here a lot of people said stuff like anyone but Moyes whenever his name got brought up though.
This thread is very optimistic though, compared to the pessimism of last year. This year we're all thinking about how good we'll do, how good we'll play, whereas when Moyes took over everyone was just fearing how far would we fall with him at the helm.

It'd be so frustrating if after all this he goes to Tottenham :wenger: it does seem like the type of thing he do the way people are banging on about his ego and liking a challenge, hope he does come to us but I would be pissed if he went to Spurs

People need to relax. In all honesty I reckon something has been signed, it looks like we'll wait 'til the end of the season to announce it. I can think of a number of reasons for this, it allows the player's and manager complete the season without much of a media frenzy, it allows Giggs to continue to be indecisive when pressed on his future, and it allows Manchester United the headlines during the week following City's title win. Relax, he's ours.
