Bundesliga 13/14

hamburg player dived against Boateng; they are both arguing head to head. Boateng also slightly touch him in the face. He gets red. Hamburg player gets only yellow. Just no reason to give him red. Both players are also massive idiots.

Just give both a yellow and be done with it.

Not to worry, this means we will see Javi at CB next week!

Braunschweig what the hell..awful!Conceding in the dying seconds :(

Lewandowski getting his deserved applause while taken off. Never really liked him personality wise (never a crowd favourite in general) and his agents are real cúnts, but he is a true professional and contributed great things in Dortmund. For that he deserves my respect and the one from the crowd. Farewell Lewy (for now), GL in Munich.

Doesn't change anything for Braunschweig. Mainz will beat Hamburg anyway and Braunschweig needs to beat Hoffenheim. Nürnberg looks lost. There's no way that they'll win away at Schalke next week.

a bit offtopic. I enjoy English commentary so much more than german or spanish one. German commentators are just too bad; makes me sad, that guys like Reif or TuT make a living out of the money i pay for sky. Spanish ones always pissing me off with their "GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAL" shouts.

His worst season in a long time, no idea why. The whole team didn't play great this season, so I wouldn't really hold it against him. He looks better since Hyypiä is gone, the whole team does. He's a quality player and I'd be surprised if he wasn't back to his best next season.

Cool, was hoping Leverkusen would finish out of the Top 4, as it might make it easier to sign him lol. A lot of talk in the papers here about us being linked to him. Not sure if the German papers are saying the same.

Do you think in a more defensive and holding role he could do well for us or not enough disciplined to play that role? From what I've seen more of a box to box player and not really seen him play as a holding player.

Couldn't agree more re: Reif and TuT but the list of horrible German commentators is almost endless (Fuss, Rethy, Bartels, ...). Same goes for most "experts" on Geman channels.

I feel sorry for them (i.e. for Lieberknecht) but they are a club I admire.

First of all, Lieberknecht was realistic enough to say from the beginning onwards that the promotion into the 1st BL is too early for the club.

Secondly, Lieberknecht did something rather extraordinary: He wanted the majority of those players who achieved the promotion to be rewarded by actually playing in the first league and not be replaced by new (potentially better) players. Remember Düsseldorf's last promotion? They did a rather big overhaul but got immediately relegated. Lieberknecht managed to build and keep up a strong team spirit, and you've never heard anything unsettling from them.

Last but not least, from the Braunschweig fans I know, they had only one objective for this season to consider it a successful one: To beat Hannover 96! :D Which they actually did once, and achieved a draw in the other game.

Well done, Braunschweig! I'll be happy to see you returning to the "Oberhaus". :)

What channel do the games come on? Fancy getting into German football next season.

oh no i've been promoted, who's gonna take care of my long-term bundesliga thread in the newbs?

@maze I've missed you mate!

In some Bundesliga news, kicker are reporting that Ginter has agreed terms with Dortmund, no fee agreed between th3 clubs yet.

They have also reported that, apparently Roma are willing to sell Benatia to Bayern for £20m which I find hard to believe.

the newbs has now fallen in the hands of those who worship the bald sith lord.

Aren't Bayern going to buy Aymeric Laporte?

:lol::lol::lol:

Do you bitch about him with Manni a lot?
not at all, but his minions always tried to lure me into their cult. plus THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD!

on another note, i'm just kidding. please don't send me back to this pit.

How many Germans are there all of a sudden? I don't feel special anymore :(

I'm still laughing at 'bald sith lord'. How was the thread like when Madrid thrashed them?

See it from the bright side. Now this thread is at least more than just a conversation between us two. Also feels good to finally have some guys besides me up here talking about Dortmund in some detail.

Nice that you have finally escaped the swamp down in the Newbies, maze. Took you long enough ;)

Yeah, but if I wanted to talk with German football fans about German football I could visit a German football board and do it in German ;). At least I don't have to defend the Bundesliga against the 'it's a shit league, it's a pointless league' comments on my own anymore.

Don't worry Balu, you and @Sphaero will always be our firsts. I need to get rid of my exams ASAP and start promoting the Serie A like you guys are promoting the Bundesliga.
I enjoy reading the Serie A thread. I really liked your summaries for the lesser known teams at the end of last season, it was a brilliant read.

Seems like we are not wanted here.. :(

@Bader That rumour seems to have died down a bit. I think he said in an interview that he wanted to stay and play in the CL with Bilbao. I do rate him a lot, but perhaps the board will be looking for a more experienced defender. I can't say much about Benatia, though many people seem to rate him highly.

As long as you all dislike Hamburg as much as Sphaero and I do, I'm sure we get along very well ;).

ok, so what's the issue with boateng?

granted he had a streak of sloppy matches, plus the red card was super-unnecessary, and he had done so in the past - but other than that i'm puzzled why anyone would rate him below world-class and/or replaceable, if not soon-to-be-replaced? i found him marvellous for huge parts of the season but the last few weeks. hope he comes good at the WC. beast of a defender imho.

Because he has his moments of stupidity. He regulary has moments where he simply done goofed. If he plays at his best, he is world-class. Especially due to his athletics. If he has an average day he is always kind of a risk factor in my opinion.

Also that red card might be quite harsh, but you simply dont touch another player in the face. You have to expect a referee to get harsh on you there and the red is by no means not justified. And those are the moments I mean. Though since he is at Bayern it has gotten less, but that could also be because of dominance of Bayern and the high possession.

Bayern fans, before you want Hamburg relegated just remember that they've been a 6 point fodder for you lot in the last couple of seasons.

(I also don't want my German teacher - HSV fan - to fail all of us on the finals)

Last couple of seasons is not right. Prior to 2012/13 we hardly made away points there... But yes, lately they have been.

And they have not been for Dortmund... ;)

Lately Hamburg doesn't even seem to try against Bayern. It was shocking to see how little motivation they had in the DFB Cup quarter finals against Bayern. (where they crashed out of the competition 0-5)

Not surprised one bit that Dortmund fans want them relegated though, but Nurnberg and Braunschweig have been equally terrible, if not worse (well, for former, except Drmic, and latter I cannot blame them for). I think Hamburg will move onto the relegation playoffs.

@Balu Sorry, I feel sad now. :(

To Hamburg: Yeah, they are shit now but the club would be a huge miss in the league. Great stadium, fans and the team could get good money in the summer. Do we want that or Paderborn....

Their fans were so happy and amused when Cologne got relegated. A team with a nice stadium, tradition, fans etc. too. Hamburgs work in the past few years in every department was terrible, they just deserve to be relegated.

I don't care about where we get those 6 points from, but that club is such a mess that a year or two in 2nd league to think about what they are fundamentally doing wrong couldn't hurt (Same could be said about the VfB.). Part of their fan base wouldn't be missed, either.
Matches against HSV used to be fun in the early eighties, in the 90ies they developed a habit to roll on their back when it was good for whoever was battling Bayern for the title.

Final Day Tomorrow: There's bound to be a drama around the CL/Europa and Relegation playoff places.

Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart - Stuttgart are safe, expect a Bayern win
Hannover 96 vs SC Freiburg - Deadwood
Wolfsburg vs M'gladbach - Both fighting for CL place, perhaps less certain (more like near-impossible) for Gladbach.
Hertha vs Dortmund - Deadwood
Schalke 04 vs Nurnberg - Schalke fighting for automatic CL qualification while Nurnberg is fighting for relegation.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen - Leverkusen fighting for CL qualification. Expect Leverkusen to win. (unless they bottle it again)
Mainz 05 vs Hamburger SV - Mainz fighting for EL, Hamburg fighting for relegation.
Augsburg vs Frankfurt - Augsburg fighting for EL. Expect them to win.
Hoffenheim vs Braunschweig - Braunschweig fighting for relegation. Hope they can beat the odds.
