United linked with van Gaal in the meeja

I'm starting to think that LvG's appointment is not set in stone as I thought it was. Perhaps the club are waiting to sound out other managers but I honestly dont see the point. I would rather have this be finalized now rather than wait any longer. I dont think there are benefits to waiting if it has indeed been decided that van Gaal will take charge next season.

I think people are starting to some patience after seeing Vidic, Rio, Woods and Phil leave without any news about someone coming in, well besides Shaw but that's gone a bit quiet.

Louis van Gaal will be Manchester United manager, relax people.

Exactly. It takes as long as it takes to get it right. Remember what happened last time we appointed a manager immediately. So long as he gives us the go ahead to crack on with the transfer targets I don't see the problem.

its natural for us to speculate.

i think it more then likly he will end up here, as thier doesn't seem to be any other options, but it dosn't seem to be taking time, so of course fans are going to speculate, why wouldn't we?

Then why can't they just announce it?

Everyone knows about it, it's not like it's going to upset anyone, you'd have had to have lived in a football bubble since the derby to not have a clue about this. After last summer I find our lack of announcement disturbing.

The longer we have to wait, the more agitated we will inevitably become. If this is so cut and dry why are we taking so long to announce it? What's the point of delaying this announcement? Doing so only increases uncertainty around the club.

I am guessing here, but I suspect that Woodward has been using the last few days to fully confirm the back room staff now that Giggs is free and has had time to think about what he wants to do.

Woodward isn't sacking staff and telling Rio Ferdinand he isn't getting an extended contract for the hell of it. We've been told repeatedly that it will happen this week and it's currently Tuesday. If it isn't announced by the weekend then there's obviously an issue, but right now I'm not remotely concerned. Van Gaal talks like a man that is running out of ways to cover up the inevitable.

The reason I believe Van Gaal is in is because Woodward is already carrying out his demands with the approval of the Glazers.

I do hope that the recent changes have the mark of the new manager. It looks as if it does. That's what I'm clinging onto when in a couple of weeks time we all agree we're waiting until after Father's Day to make the announcement
I really think the news we've had today pretty much confirms it's a done deal. Would be mental for Woodward to make those decisions himself, especially before deciding who the manager is.

i agree with pretty much everything you are say, obviously thier is lots to organise with players leaving, staff leaving, possible bid for shaw, so maybe it taking time to get things settled before annoucing it.

But im not sure i agree with your last line, i think Van Gaal comes across as a man been pi$$ed off with the hold up, maybe it as simple as been anoid at the delay in the announcement, or maybe it frustration with united for dragging thier feet.

but like you say i guess we'll know by the weekend, if their been no announcement thier is defiantly a problem!

"Mitten suggested that Giggs will not utilise Giggs if he does not feel he has his full support"
you can't really disagree with that can you?
would any of us want to take on the job if with some one he wasn't on the same page on as his assistant? who holds a massive sway over the dressing room and could easily undermine if he chose two. Not exacly ideal working conditions.

so if this is true, Gaals right, if giggs and Gaal( or who ever gets the job)get on are on the same page, then it be great for giggs to stay, but if they don't, giggs unfortunately can't stay

Yep manager comes first. We need a bit of stability, not Van Gaal coming in and instantly not getting on with Giggs or other backroom staff. If van Gaal is made manager it should be his way end of.

Please stop guys you're making me paranoid about this not happening :nervous:

To me, those quotes suggested that he was annoyed that people were asking him about the United job, instead of the NT and the coming WC. He basically said that he won't discuss anything about United, and if we want any news it will be from the club.

Holland coach Louis van Gaal says his future remains up in the air, despite widespread reports linking him with the Manchester United manager's job.

Van Gaal, who is in camp with Holland as they prepare for their upcoming World Cup campaign, said a few days ago that United are the biggest club in the world and that he would love to be chosen as their new boss.

But he is now refusing to discuss whether he will become the next man to take charge at Old Trafford and has hinted that he has other options.

Asked about the United job by Dutch media on Tuesday, Van Gaal said: "No, I would not say anything about it.

"I'm here as Dutch national team coach, not the future Manchester United coach.

"You must wait until the process is complete. If you want to know more, then you must put questions to Manchester United, or perhaps to another club.

"I cannot say anything further about it.

"I said a few words last week about Manchester United because there were uninvited English journalists here and I thought it would be a little mean spirited if I did not answer a few of their questions.

"I mumbled a few words to them and, from that, they write 60 full pages. But you can't do anything about it."

Asked if he would be taking advantage of a day off for the Dutch squad on Wednesday to fly over to England and sign a contract with United, the 62-year-old said: "Ask Manchester, I don't know.

"Now there will be press sitting outside my house tomorrow to see what I'm doing."

Are you really agitated? Like can you function, without the knowledge of who our next manager will be?

Hope they've agreed not to announce it till Netherlands get knocked out so everyone here goes completely mental.
Same. Hope they reach the final for that reason. People are acting as though their quality of life will be affected unless it gets announced this second.

Yeah and i hope he's never appointed at all and we get Giggs. It's only football.

etc.

I wonder if he'd actually last a few seasons here given his obvious disdain for the media and the manner in which our media behaves depending on the narrative they wish to ram down our throats. An example being the way AVB was treated for refusing to accept any blame for results and performances when he clearly used the word 'we'. They don't let a little thing like 'facts' stop the onslaught.

If Van Gaal gets particularly spiky they'll go for the jugular.

"Ryan Giggs will hold talks with Louis van Gaal on Wednesday to discuss his future at Manchester United with the Holland coach expected to be confirmed as the club’s new manager on Thursday."

Ah Thursday now.

So we've gone from last home game to end of season to Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday now Thursday. And everyone's still cock-sure it's happening? Grand.
