not sure i agree it good to wait, thier is going to be no good point to announce it between now and the world cup, and think it would leave way to much uncertainty leaving it till after the world cup.To be honest, there is a Dutch match on at the weekend. Friendly or not, it's still a warm-up game for the WC and the Dutch FA/United feel it's showing consideration that they don't announce it now while LVG is coaching the Dutch side in prep for the game on Saturday. After that, they have 2 weeks before their next game. Plenty of time for things to settle down once it's announce on Sun/Mon. The media is just blowing things out of proportion because there is no announcement to write about.
I agree with you that's probably what has been discussed in the Giggs/LVG meeting. People just need to chill out a bit and be patient. United never said there was going to be an announcement this week anyway. Just need to wait for it to be formally announced but, in my opinion, I think the deal to get LVG was officially done a couple of weeks ago before LVG joined up with the Dutch squad.
There's nowt sinister going on. United are just being respectful of the fact that LVG is currently working with his national squad and the announcement will come when they're having a rest day.
As for Ladyboy at the Daily Fail he knows nowt - amazing how desperate they are to sustain this idea that we remain in utter turmoil.
How do you know LvG does not completely trust Giggsy?!You make it sound like Giggs was Fergie's partner over those twenty six years whilst he was just being managed by Fergie . Those twenty six years were spent as a player, those medals won as a player and whilst it's desirable to have him within the structures of the club it also shouldn't be a deal breaker . Another thing is that it is not ideal for a manager to work with a #2 he can not completely trust and who doesn't owe his presence at the club to that manager . The situation that makes it impossible for them to function as a team has been brought about by the likelihood that their fates won't be intertwined meaning that Giggs will most likely benefit from Van Gaal's fall . This scenario is fertile ground for mistrust because no sane manager will ever trust someone who has been made heir apparent before they were appointed and Giggs' desire to land that job will provide motivation towards undermining the incumbent . This insistence on Giggs being given a senior role has made Van Gaal vulnerable, he has been undermined before even landing the job .
You couldnt be any further from the truth with that. There are plenty journos who have literally zero contacts at Utd but with the one you mention, i categorically know you are 100% wrong.
Whatever the reason for the delay is, it doesn't matter, we're really in no rush at all, it's not like he's going to start next week, it's still May.
Details are important, we've rushed with moyes and he ended up starting in july anyway, it'll be sorted soon one way or another so i'm not worried at all.
So nobody is bothered that we've gone from "we'll get our major signings done before the world cup to avoid the last minute panic of last summer" to not even having a manager?
Agreed! Plus It's in the news (the Guardian) that LvG is already giving some potential transfer list. Announcement is just a formality. If we all just take a step back, take a deep breath and relax we'll all realise that we are just being a tad bit impatient! LVG is going to be our manager, it's just a case of when, not if, it's announced. That doesn't mean to say that he hasn't already signed with United. Saying that, we need to show a bit of courtesy to LVG/Dutch FA but letting them prep for the WC warm-up game on Saturday and then announce it, officially, while they have a couple of weeks break. Seems more sense to me to do it that way than announce it now, 2-3 days before his current employers have a game on.
Spot on, people laugh because it's the Mail but Ladyman is more right than wrong.

Has been this season, that´s for sure. Seems they´ve got themselves a source of some kind - them and the Telegraph have been pretty much on the money during the Moyes and post Moyes era.

Interesting tho, cause we have much better attacking players than defenders in our squad.I doubt he will. He almost exclusively plays 4-3-3. The only reason I can think that he's switching to three at the back for Netherlands is to maximise the attacking potential of the squad with the players at his disposal.
So there might be something to Ladyman reporting about this Class of '92 unrest?

Yes, I reckon it's spot on. The very reliable Mark Ogden reported the same thing.
I didn't know Ogden had reported it too. I got flamed in another thread when I referred to it.
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler believes that Louis van Gaal is not the right man to lead Manchester United and claims that Ryan Giggs should have been handed the job.
With van Gaal set to be announced as Man United manager any day now, Fowler believes that Giggs should have been given the full-time job after David Moyes was sacked. “I don’t know if Louis van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s had his time. It might sound silly, but he’s too old. “You can’t argue with his credentials and what he’s achieved, but Man United should have gone for a young, vibrant manager.
“The board might have said to Van Gaal he needs to get Giggs ready to take over in a few years. That was one of the stumbling blocks early on. Whoever came in would have to take him on to the staff. “But they should have just given the job to Ryan. It’s one of the biggest jobs in football but Giggs knows the club, he knows what’s expected and everything about the club.
“They should have appointed him and brought in a superb number two to help him along the way. “I’m not saying that as a Liverpool fan who thinks, ‘let’s get the young manager in and hope that he fails’. I want young British managers to do very well because it’s good for British football as a whole.
“You don’t have the career he’s had at Manchester United if you’re a bit of a wimp. He knows what he’s doing and they should have gone done that route.”

Didn't Woodward say he wanted to be more open with the press? The club has been a lot more open since Ed took over. Mark Ogden of the Telegraph has almost been correct every time he has reported anything, so his source must be high placed. I would add James Ducker from the Times to the list.
I think LvG will know how to look after RvP in training and how to get the best out of him. I can see RvP having as good a season next season as he did in his first season.Delighted if true. However only if his fitness is good. What's the point having a captain who hardly plays?
Same goes for Rooney though. He's injured far too much.Delighted if true. However only if his fitness is good. What's the point having a captain who hardly plays?
He's s**t stirring for sure. Unrest? I don't see Scholesy throwing tantrum not being offered a job, not Nicky making a fuss staying put at the reserved/academy. As far as Neville is concerned his presence was only due to Moyes and he's more Everton quality than united anyway. He has no bargaining power. Ladyman was just trying to create headline out of nothing, using words like "in danger of getting ugly".So there might be something to Ladyman reporting about this Class of '92 unrest?

Based on nothing much, this guy thinks RvP will be Captain next season, depends whether he can stay fit for the greater part of the season or not, I suppose:
Robin van Persie is expected to be named as Manchester United's new captain when Louis van Gaal is confirmed as the club's new manager, according to leading Dutch journalist Pascal Kamperman.
Van Gaal led Netherlands' final training session before their friendly with Ecuador on Saturday with the timescale on his highly anticipated move to Manchester United no clearer.
The 62-year-old named van Persie as the permanent captain of the Dutch side 11 months ago and Kamperman expects the former Arsenal striker to succeed Inter Milan-bound Nemanja Vidic as United skipper.
"Yeah I think so because they do have a good relationship," Kamperman told Sky Sports News when asked if he thought van Persie would captain United next season.
"At the beginning when van Gaal took over as the head coach of the Dutch national team they had to find their position a little bit. But after that it went really well and van Persie was very positive about him.
"When van Persie was over here (in Holland) last month because of his injury they talked a lot about the World Cup and the way they like to play in Brazil. So yes he does have a very good relationship with him."

I'd imagine LVG will have more idea how to keep RVP fit than Moyes did.Delighted if true. However only if his fitness is good. What's the point having a captain who hardly plays?
