Sorry, but much as I think Rooney is a dick who doesn't deserve the captain on any moral basis, from a purely footballing point of view the above is bollocks. Of course Rooney is a genuine star player, and he did add much or more for the team this season, taking into account birth players' injuries. Not only that, but the way his attitude on the pitch and style of play make him much more suitable captain material, compared to the talkative aloof RVP.
There are good reasons not to want him to be captain, so let's not make up silly ones.
