He hasn't signed anyone yet? #Vangaalout
Don't let him near the OranjeCaf!Louis van Gaal said: "It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, makes me very proud. I have managed in games at Old Trafford before and know what an incredible arena Old Trafford is and how passionate and knowledgeable the fans are. This club has big ambitions; I too have big ambitions. Together I'm sure we will make history."
Are some of you real?
Did you really write that?
Some of you need to get a right grip on reality. We are not winning anything for at least 4 years, if he's given that amount of time. What the hell are you prattling on about here?
van Gaal's fierce funny intellectual snobbery? Really?
If he was to win the World Cup this place would go mentalHaving Van Gaal go deep in the world cup would also help with transfers.
Having Holland win(not very likely) the world cup would not be a bad thing.
Dutch press trying to get van Gaal's transfer targets and failing.
I'm in love.
It's on !!No points dropped since his appointment. A clear improvement.
Well of course it does, we need him to assess the squad at his disposal and bed in the new signings quickly without a transition period where we're failing to gel as a team. If he spends £200m then there will be a hell of a lot of pressure on too, a good start is vital I feel.
You may think £200m is a lot of money, it is indeed but buy five £30m bracket players, add in agent fees and sign-on bonuses and you will easily go above that £200m mark. We're talking about buying a left back, a CB, a right back and 2 central midfielders which can go straight into the team and take us to the top. He's not going to spend 200m quid though. It's crazy talk.

You can't simply chuck that many unassociated players into a pot and expect for it to work straight away. He's not going to do that, he'll make 3 big signings at most.
We can't afford to go into next season without buying that solid core to our team. Are we going into next season having Rafael as our only right back option of first team quality? Remember that Jones and Smalling will be playing CB next season and we won't have a backup for right back. We can't rely on them to cover for Rafael when he needs a rest or gets injured. You can't simply chuck that many unassociated players into a pot and expect for it to work straight away. You are right. Look at PSG and Monaco and both plastics in the BPL took time after spending heavily. Saying that Jose won the league at his first attempt after buying a shit load of players so it can be done.

We've got Jones, Smalling and Evans who must be 3 of the most injury prone defenders we've ever had. At most times, one or two of them have always been injures these past couple of seasons. Are we going to play with Carrick in the back 4 and expect us to really challenge for top 4?
Then there's the other issue with midfield which has been exposed far too often this season. Are you willing to go into next season With Carrick, Fellaini, Cleverley and Anderson as our only midfield options?
At first I didn't think it's worth mentioning since it's quite obvious, but Evra has also been struggling when called upon consecutive matches due to lack of stamina because of his age. Part of blame needs to be held by him for conceding a fair share of goals in the last 20 minutes of games. Would you go into next season with Evra and Buttner as our only left back options?
We must get a reliable CB that goes straight into our back 4, a left back and a right back because we're really thin in those positions and 2 central midfielders to give a boost to a very weak area of our team. These improvements are a necessity, we're not talking about wingers and strikers here but the actual core of our team. Currently we don't have a core that is reliable enough. Without a core, you can't expect to win titles.
Ok, but the club has to fund this from its earnings, there is no unlimited pot where you can simply just chuck the cash about and hope something sticks. He has to be frugal here, because if he isn't and it doesn't work, it could be a very long road indeed. United can't simply keep pulling cash out of its arsehole. There is no instant fix here, there needs to be some mid to long term plan.

On the contrary, you could say it's a bigger risk not to spend serious money and make serious improvements to this squad. I'm not convinced 3 big signings is enough when we need a new left back, centre back, two centre mids and a winger.
He's only got the small matter of the World Cup to focus on right now.So he's got the gig. Why the feck's he hanging around in Holland or whatever?
Don't tell me this one's having a nice long summer vacation in Florida with no Blackberry in sight!??
But you are not looking at this sensibly. If he spends 150 to 200m and it doesn't work, what then? What he needs to do is to get the squad into a good enough shape to qualify for the Champions League as that will then provide more revenue to then continue with the plan. Short-termism isn't going to get us anywhere. And in any case, as Ramshock said, if he is as good a coach as most here believe, that in intself should give a major boost to performance and he will be looking to get some young players actively playing. Simply throwing money at the problem for hoped for instant trophies is not the way to do this. Throwing money at Fallini and Mata really helped didn't it?
To not invest in this squad is madness.
Its a huge risk not spending money when we're currently 7th and the teams above us will all be strengthening themselves. I'm sure there are players who he can undoubtedly get more out of but there are others that need replacing.
Vidic and Ferdinand have already left, Evra isn't far behind but needs replacing anyway. That's 3 players right there that we need, not to improve but to replace.
In midfield we have Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini and Cleverley. Carrick is 33 next season, Fletcher has been well below standard since coming back, Fellaini hasn't once looked United quality and who knows what is going on with Cleverley. Realisically we need two first choice midfielders.
Wide: Nani appears to be off, Young is an abomination of a player and Valencia is just plain terrible. Januzaj is the only one good enough for us and Kagawa isn't a winger.
To not invest in this squad is madness.
Side point, but I've read somewhere that LvG has apparently blocked Nani's alleged impending transfer to Juventus.
...did he not ask Evra to reconsider too?
Possibly, didn't hear anything of the like mind you.
