Not always some of them were just due to lack of effort and not being focused. It wasn't always about individual errors, their away form this season was shocking

Those clubs have a monopoly and none of the other clubs can compete. We don't.
Also Spanish, German and Italian players are better than English players at the moment.
We haven't. Arsenal were interested for one but scared off by wage demands. He knew what he could get at United so no need to lower when speaking to other clubs.

Can't say I agree at all. City didn't win the title because of James Milner and his 'grit'.
Chelsea's defines practically gives meaning to the word 'grit' with the Lionheart and his apprentice, yet finished third. I've seen more 'grit' from Angel Di Maria and Modric than I have any British players this season.
It's kind of a myth that British players are all hardy and resilient, really they just run a lot to make up for their lack of skill.

I don't know. But I wouldn't be surprised if he just resigned anyway after reaching some kind of compromise. I just don't think its very likely, thats all.

So United have always had a core of home grown players but City won the league this year so we should abandon it and copy them? Other than financially I'm not particularly jealous of a side that can be in the middle of a title race and still have 7,000 empty seats they pretend aren't there for a home game. Maybe a sign of what happens when the players/team lose connection with the fans? (or a sign of City fans just being shit)

Our recent success was down to class of 92 and Fergie. We won't get that again.
We won't get another manager that lasts 26 years. Won't get 5 class players from the youth team.
But when Neville suggested we have always had a British manager and should keep to this its shouted down. English players are not good enough. We have the best one and its a complete joke how expensive it is for second rate performaces when compared to the European elite on similar wages. We as a club have to field the worlds best players not Englands best players.
Hmm I was kind of thinking the same, however then I thought of how I would have felt if I was Kroos rated as the no1 up and coming CM in German football, and all of a sudden the new gaffer goes and brings in Thiago.
We have already seen this season Kroos's displeasure about being substituted under Pep and he has had to play a number of roles in midfield. I think there is more in this than meets the eye and may not just be about money, although its a big factor. I think some of it is down to status, Kroos's likely wants to be the no1 in CM and wants Bayern to acknowledge it to him (by paying him what the top earners are earning). Then again I could just be reading way to much into things in order to make the situation support the outcome I most want.
If Kroos signs a new deal and we don't end up with a top CM this summer, we're going to have egg on our faces yet again!
Remember when Ferguson was supposedly sitting next to Sascha Breese at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago? I also remember a lot of people telling me that bald dude wasn't the same guy Moyes was talking with in januari at a Bayern game.
I wasn't convinced, since it really looked like Breese/the dude Moyes was talking with, but I know too little of the man. And now somehow I convinced myself it really was Sascha Breese talking with Ferguson, and I hope we have a very good chance signing Kroos.

The class of 92 played very little in our recent success. We've only had Giggs who has been a shadow of his former self for years and Scholes. Nobody else unless you count Neville, which it's best not to.
I'm not against foreign players or think English are owt special but I do think you need a core of players that are familiar with the club. They don't have to be English as such but lads like Rafael or Ronaldo or in years to come Januzaj - players signed at a young age who develop an identity and affinity with the club rather than the City method as supported by @RedorDead21 where you just get a load in for a couple of seasons, win stuff, ship them out and get another load in.
Whatever nationality you have you need to have a core of players with a link/affinity to the club and it's just easier to get that with natives, although as seen above you don't have to do that exclusively.
I'm not arsed about English players per-se, you can be Brazilian and have an affinity with the club, but the affinity needs to be there for the base of your squad. If you ship in and ship out a new team every 2 or 3 years, IMO that'd be fecking horrible.
Im sorry but a spine of young foreign players could and should last 7-8 years together and you wouldnt better it with a core of home grown!!
I know you have to be careful watching compilation vids of players best moments, but we could have finally replaced Scholes if this happens
I've heard him criticized for being slow, he appears to more than make up for lack blistering pace with his speed of thought. Every clip I've seen he's looking up before he even receives the ball. Fantastic range of passing, and some pretty good Scholes-esc goals too

I would say at the moment the times, cosnidering Mark Ogden works for them and he has been pretty spot on this year with his information.
What about the arguement that he isnt a CM but rather a #10? How will he handle the physicality found in CM in the EPL? I'm all for him(I usually am when it comes to these sexy names) but where do you see him fitting with those questions in mind?

For me it depends on the writer. Ogden, Daniel Taylor, James Ducker are fairly clued up. McDonnell and Ladyman are decent too.

From what I've gathered on the Caf, more than papers themselves, it's the journos you should be looking at. I think Ogden is considered to be reliable, and I've read Ducker is too. I think.
Yeah true. Writer rather than paper would probably be a better criteria. I'm almost over the edge on this Kroos deal now. I am close to thinking it may actually happen
