The Grand Budapest Hotel - Gorgeous, if not a bit too corny. It was enjoyable and all, had more spark than Moonrise Kingdom but ultimately nothing great.
Watched In the Mood for Love..and yeah...a visual masterpiece. The man gave a masterclass in film making. Although Maggie Cheung's bare buttocks would've been a fitting climax. Loved the way we were made to feel like the invisible person present in the story, as if we were spying...and they kind of felt our presence.
That should be a good enough reason for me to watch it. I remember being excited about watching Moonrise but felt sick in the stomach once the wide angle panning shots began. I hope it is half as good as the trailer.

Yeah...seeing as it's a visual medium, the aesthetics are possibly the most important thing. Well, it's what captures my imagination, In the Mood for Love for example mesmerised me because it was so fecking sexy.

A decent watch. Though the climax is a bit of a stretch and last few scenes seem to be made up just to git to a good ending, overall the movie is quite good. Good action scenes with dry humor, it keeps you engrossed till the end
Did not actually get on why he gets back to helicopter after last kill whereas in all other kills he gets only to waking up in handcuffs
Edge Of Tomorrow
This was a really enjoyable action romp. The story was told really well and the style of the film felt a bit like a computer game. Tom Cruise wasn't annoying and Emily Blunt was super hot. The reset gimmick was done really well and it had some fantastic sound design. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I think the trailer actually undersells the film 8/10
I didn't understand how Emily Blunt could have known her resets stopped... surely if she died after the power left her, she would be dead?
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
A fairly decent action film but marred by genre cliches. The film never outstays it's welcome and is paced quite well. The action scenes were ok, Chris Pine does a decent job but Keira Knightly's character is so damn annoying, damn clingy bitch. Still, a decent film, worth a watch but don't expect to remember it a few hours later 6/10
Those good reviews (here and elsewhere) for Edge of Tomorrow have intrigued me, looks like one of those awful brain-dead Hollywood films from the trailer, should I be less cynical?
I'm so glad 'In mood for love' got a mention. Wish there was an English translated version. Having to read subtitle takes a lot out of enjoying the film in the first watch.
Not done one of these in ages! So lobbed in a few films that I've watched.
Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit: I like Chris Pine, no homo. He's a brilliant Kirk and I find his performances entertaining. He's decent in this film too I must add, that's pretty much the only highlight. The rest of the film was pretty dull and the characters were crap. I wasn't impressed, I've forgotten the storyline already and I only watched it a week ago. 4/10
Iron Man 2: I was put off watching this film. Negative reviews everywhere and I didn't want that to tarnish my enjoyment of Iron Man 1. I finally sat down and watched it, kept a fresh mind and expected a terrible film. I actually thought it wasn't as bad as people made out. The action was great and the storyline was not bad. Introduced us to new characters and provided a very good villain. It wasn't as good as Iron Man 1, but it wasn't that far off and a worthy stab as the tricky second film. 6/10
Iron Man 3: So I watched this a day after Iron Man 2. The interesting thing is that I actually thought this film was the worst of the 3. Their were obvious plot holes (see villain powers), the villain himself was annoying, the "twist" I thought was predictable (although enjoyable) and the set pieces felt a bit too OTT. I did however make the error of skipping Avengers so I was left a little baffled at the start of the film. But it didn't really matter. Enjoyable film all the same. But was a bit meh for me. 5/10
Avengers: Thought I'd finish my Marvel marathon by watching this film the day after Iron Man 3. This film was much better than both IM2 & 3. It was a superb action film, set pieces were great fun and had me entertained throughout. Storyline was a little shaky (I thought the middle section lost its way a little bit). But the final third of the film made up for it. 7/10
Hobbit Desolation of Smaug (2nd Viewing): Forgot to add this film in. I watched this a 2nd time recently. First viewing I left feeling a bit underwhelmed, not that it wasn't a bad film. But I felt the pacing was off and at times it dragged it on. On second viewing, I actually enjoyed it far more, the She-Elf (can't remember the name) wasn't as bad as I remembered and the pacing was much better than I remembered. My only grievance (and its understandable) is that they tend to focus in on only 3/4 of the Dwarves. The rest tend to get forgotten and used as background material. I'm going to enjoy watching it on Blu Ray when it comes out.
Pacific Rim: I had no idea what this film was about. I watched it and was actually impressed, CGI is amazing and the story was decent enough. Didn't like the ending much though! Also the music reminded me of the music in the computer game Crysis 2 but it works well with the film. Decent, entertaining, I enjoyed it! 7/10

As he floated down, he was coated in the Omega's goo/blood giving him the power to reset again to whenever he wants, I guess since it's Omega blood and not Alpha blood. At the reset, he told them to bomb the Louvre, I'm guessing, since the Omega was there.
Cruise said that he knew the "power" was gone when he woke up after the transfusions. It probably had some characteristic feeling associated with it and they didn't want to test it afterwards?
So............ Finally got around to watching Blade Runner......
I know a lot of people on here will think WTF is this guy smoking?! But seriously, I've seen posts on here saying its one of the best movies Ever? Really?? I've gotta ask anyone who actually considers Blade Runner in the top 10 movies of all time...Are you fecking high??
For me its 6.5-7/10 at best.
I'll start of positive I suppose....The cinematography is amazing, such a beautifully created world and visually it is incredibly, even more so considering it was made in 1982. That for me is what makes up at least 5 of the marks I've given it. It genuinely was ahead of its time, that there is no doubt!
However, it was incredibly slow moving / boring, Overly pretentious and full of cliches towards "Big Brother", Religion and and for me it is trying too damn hard on too many different levels.
For me though, it was the lack of characters, there is no back story there other than a brief write up at the start, giving us Zero reasons to be involved with the characters. You know absolutely feck all about the lead character (Harrison Ford) and by the end of it you still know literally feck all about him, with that in mind, when he is in that final scene with Rutger Haeur I couldn't give two fecks if he died or not. Why would I care? Not like I had an investment and reason's for him to live. Basically the movie went into Overkill with its visuals and gave nothing into the characters. Oh and I care even less if he was a replicant or not...it simply doesn't matter!
Now I must flee the nerds before they surround me!
